Thanks for the encouragement Taomeow, your posts regarding the full lotus have been really helpful. Looks great joeblast, I think my coworkers would be taken too far aback if they saw me sitting like that on a chair

anyone here meditate on real fur/fur carpets? any particular effects? for some reason i think it'd be a good idea, i'm not sure if i read it anywhere or if it's late night intuition.
-
You said you want to develop your ability to heal, do you meditate? If so, how long? You're unemployed so you should be able to practice hours a day, do you? I sense a strong sense of entitlement in your post, if it's misplaced I apologize but I do not believe it to be so. You desire to travel the world and learn the secrets of the ancients but you don't work and basically don't want to get out of your comfort zone to make it happen.

It seems this thread has been in the grave for some time, here is to some inspiration (for those whom still cannot)

yeah that's interesting, anyone familiar with how to go about buying a hide? i could always hunt and get a deer myself i suppose.

i'm curious what kind of culinary guidelines are followed here to optimize jing and, most importantly, overall health. i've always had difficulty with my dietary choices and have gone from low fat vegetarianism to full fatty meat protocols to more or less the same result. i figure that perhaps the innate cues that let you know when you're dialed in have been turned off or dulled enough that i cannot guide myself anymore or have never been able to, really. "pro jing" has been mentioned in the title because i am a male and concerned with the declining sperm counts worldwide and the overabundant estrogen-mimicking compounds in the environment..etc it's also my natural state to continually seek improvement in whatever i decide to devote myself to so it's natural for me to ask this i suppose.

OK. I'm starting this thread to have an organized place to discuss Wang Liping and his Longmen Pai teachings. My main question is, and I'm sorry if this has been answered before, what should one do if one can not yet afford to attend a retreat? Stillness meditation, lower tan tien, etc? Should one stretch to attempt the full lotus for the 4 hours, per described in the Opening of the Dragon Gate? Are there any dietary principles should follow to prepare themselves? In short, what is the best you can possibly do to reap the greatest benefit from Wang Liping and his retreat.

I have a review in my practice section.
-
I just got my copy today and it is indeed a practice manual, very excited.
-
Mine arrives tomorrow, I'll let you know.
-
Are you retarded or what? Its still very interesting footage to look at.
-
I wonder if that book he's reading out of is the manual that was recently translated into English?

NOTICE: Master Wang Liping 2012 US Intensive
mantis replied to DragonGateNYC's topic in General Discussion
I'd be pretty upset if I was told Wang Liping was coming and at the seminar it's one of his students and not him. Its false advertising. -
According to Amazon mine is arriving on Wednesday, I too hope we can get something out of the manual instead of it just being a sequel to Opening the Dragon Gate so to speak.

You're going to have to become friends with pain if you ever wish to sit in the full lotus for an extended amount of time, I know I have

Very well said Scotty. We can look at Maslow's hierarchy of needs to further expand on this: If your basic needs aren't met doing any kind of cultivation would be difficult and probably prove fruitless. There aren't too many places where you can just live in the jungle off the land anymore.

Those Magus of Java excerpts are really interesting, I might buy the book now

Don't waste your time, he isn't Enlightened because some people on here don't believe he is.
-
It's not out of curiosity, this is an offensive question. Who is the authority? Some Chinese man in a garb in a mountain, probably.
-
Nan Huai-Chin has been verified to be enlightened, I'm sure if you contacted Bodri on his site he could probably set something up, a few people on this forum have met him. You could always join a monastery.

The book is free online.

I have no experience with the tapes, I haven't listened to them fully yet. I'm kind of of overwhelmed with the Yan Xin Qigong method, though, I more or less finished reading the "Secrets & Benefits of Internal Qigong Cultivation" today and it's VERY demanding, visually. You have to keep a number of visualizations running simultaneously and it all seems like quite the headache. When I have some more time I'll listen to the tapes.
