Sinfest, why are you trolling this thread? If you don't agree with Veganism or Vegeterians don't post in here, many have been able to do so.
-
The book that you can download describes the first step if I read right and the second, the Volume 9 book has all the steps. I haven't gotten around to reading the first.
-
I just bought the Yan Xin Volume 9 book off Amazon for $30 shipped.

There used to be a thread on this but for some reason you can't search past 2011 on this forum anymore? Anyway, it was about a Asian shaman I believe who prepared these "gold pills" that were used to successfully treat a variety of ailments in his village or whatever, and they sold them online. I used to have the site bookmarked but that was a long time ago and I've since lost it, does anyone remember that? There used to be a video on him too but I'd have no clue how to find that. EDIT: Nevermind, found it. http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/6389-shamanic-healing-video-documentary/

Residing in stillness isn't boring, to me.

The idea is not to suffer as much as possible, but you must understand that in some cases there is nothing you can do, this is one of those cases. Minoxidil and Propecia work but both have a host of side effects and even then, they do not work forever and you will eventually still go bald. It's only a delaying of the inevitable. The only way you can truly escape balding is to have a hair transplant which will set you back thousands of dollars.

do you carry a copy of the tao te ching with you?

Do you have any idea why Fu Xi and Nuwa are depicted as snakes? -
Propecia has caused irreversible sexual dysfunction in thousands of men, just have a peek at propeciahelp.com. As far as I know there is no known cure for balding in any medical system, Eastern or Western. Asians are genetically less prone to balding, its not because of their lifestyles and diet. Its well documented on pubmed. While there is literally an endless list of supplements purported to help if you're losing your hair now I'd just eventually learn to accept the fact that you will one day be bald. Life could be much worse than simply not having hair.

Interesting thread, it's worth noting that the OP was made in 2006, possibly explaining why the link doesn't work anymore.

Very interesting thread. Gerard, if you have the time, could you make a thread with regards to dietary advice? I'm curious as to your input. I just got some Pu Erh tea I ordered today, incidentally, it's a very "earthy" flavor but I finished drinking it hours ago and I still have a pleasant aftertaste in my mouth (even after brushing my teeth!)

Which would be the better version to buy, the Cleary or Wilhelm?
-
Thanks, I was searching for that thread but I thought it was in the book club. That thread seems to turn into a disaster in the later pages, though, so I'll keep this one open instead.

Cleary has more positive reviews on Amazon but I figured Welhelm living in China for so long would've produced a better end product?

Bump.

Not going to keep me from eating kimchi. -
I'm proud to say I can squat like a third world native, for quite some time too.

I'm curious what this forums take on it is? I drink soy milk and take a soy isoflavone supplement as well.

I had the strangest thing happen last night while in the full lotus. I was sitting and was hurting, obviously, as I had forgot to sit on Friday. I was right around the ~18 minute mark or so and was seriously reconsidering sitting for the allotted 20 minutes. The strain of maintaining the position is really a unique kind of hurt and I thought of Wang Liping's requirements not to move (I was moving frantically) and what not etc. when all of a sudden the pain lessened by at least 80%. I was dumbfounded and managed to easily sit the rest of time but I have absolutely no clue what happened. My legs had obviously become numb/asleep by then and they both basically "woke up."

There definitely is an "asian factor." I used to work with a Vietnamese guy who's now 50 (49 at the time), smokes, drinks, has a belly, etc. I was stunned at the fact that he could squat down so deep while maintaining himself perfectly upright (the asian squat, basically). When I tried to do it although I can squat all the way down and keep my heels on the floor I cannot maintain the same upright posture as he could. He asked me if I could do the full lotus and I did, with about 10% of the ease he performed it with. This guy doesn't stretch, exercise, watch his diet, nothing, and he's more flexible than a guy that is unreasonably flexible. My mind was blown. I later went to Vietnam with the aforementioned Vietnamese guy and lo and behold, damn near everyone in Vietnam spends 95% of their day in the squatting position.

I wholeheartedly agree, orb

For a spiritual forum there appears to be quite a few bruised I's and egos over such simple comments. Cool stuff.

I understand that but you do realize your tonage comes off "as is." I may be wrong but I don't think anyone on this forum is fully qualified to speak with authority on these matters.
