Which combo of qigong instruction? Advice appreciated.
JohnC replied to Jainarayan's topic in Daoist Discussion
I gotta say too guys... and I don't want to confuse , but if I'd waited to find a teacher I probably would never have gotten into qigong/energy work/etc. I started Spring forest qigong.... and thing it's a great one, safe (as far as I know) and effective. So trust your gut too. The path will appear as you walk it, even if you are making mistakes. I personally believe it's better to try and learn than not try out of fear of the boogey man and you never move. John -

Not in my experience. ZZ is a foundational practice and opened my channels. I literaly think it's one of the most important in opening and grounding. I've heard of many masters that require students to practice zz before going on to anything else. John -
ah.. yea . Typo... John

The book will help you understand and show you options, but is a supplement to a video showing you how to actually do the movements and the like. It's all over the internet too. When I was doing zhineng I progressed quickly. John

It helped me with understanding of Qi in general and furthering my understanding of qigong in general. It has solid details, and from a master that has studied deeply many systems. As a book to start you off, I think it's a good one and waaay better than most. John

I liked it.

Based on your goals, you can pick any one of the qigong's I've listed and they will help you on your way.

MCO can move you forward... I'd find what you are drawn to. I've just seen many more effective practices, and in America there aren't many that have actually opened their mco to be able to speak about it, and levels beyond it. It is a powerful practice though. Zhineng(chilel) qigong is a system I'm amazed by that also has opening the mco as an marker of progress within it, just opening the mco isn't it's aim. And the moving awareness over the mco to open it can take a long time. Here is an interview with it's developer, who learned from a number of masters and created his own qigong. It depends what you want, and move towards that. I want to point out though, any solid qigong will have it's practictioners showing markers of progress quickly, and you can usually see them in the students of the teacher. Not this 'develop a dantien in 10 years!' bs. Way of the tao, spring forest, zhineng, hunyaun are all really solid qigongs that I'm impressed by. All of these actually seem to be related, in some way, and draw energy from the surroundings, and progress the practitioner quickly and gently. Nei yang gong also seems to be really impressive.... but I haven't practiced it nor do I know of anyone. Foundational stuff though to get a good feel would be zhan zhuang, and you can learn all about it from Master Lam's channel here http://www.youtube.com/user/StandStillBeFit. From there let your gut guide you . John

I don't mean via stillness movement which isn't microcosmic orbit (xiao zhou tian). Stillness movement continues past the mco, as much as I understand of it. But opening the mco is a step on the path while practicing stillness movement. The practice of the microcosmic orbit, in what I've seen takes forrreeever and many never accomplish it. Aka moving your awarness through the channels, which then clears obstructions. John

I don't believe the mco is advanced. It actually occurs to me as a very SLOW practice, that requires a very serious practitioner to open up unassisted(Wang li ping helps, etc). Reading about the theory and practice of zhineng qigong, they create the entire body as a dantien, which is something you would do once you opened up the mco, they just skip right to it. I'm really impressed with the system and it's ability to move people cleanly and clearly to high levels. John

Is Sifu Jenny Lamb a legit healer?
JohnC replied to CrunchyChocolate555's topic in General Discussion
He didn't tell me qigong would get rid of it. He told me stillness movement nei gong could resolve it, but not qigong's and the like. He was specific about that. I just want to point out, I believe that Jenny Lamb is an amazing woman, teacher and healer. I am impressed by her pursuit and the like. I don't think she has any kind of negative intention, but is working for the best good for everyone everywhere. And she is VERY focused and intense on her path, which inspires me. And I think there are options as well. Her style is based on her lineage, while others are different. She is in contact with her masters, which I find amazing. I don't know if they give her the numbers or not, as I haven't read her saying that. I just know for me it really freaked me out when I heard I did, and talking with my teacher(Lomax) helped. I also want to point out, information may not be accurate. Hers, others, etc... She is human just like all of us. And I respect her and her opinion. John -

I don't know if it's true that Lomax doesn't specialize in entity issues and she does. She is certaintly doing a lot of them though. The example I referenced was an entity issue that was compared against the healing. And as far as pursuing 'cheaper' alternatives.... I disagree that you get what you pay for. Some of the highest masters I know, do treatments for free. Jenny Lamb is definitly powerful for sure, I'm wanting to point out there are other options. Not to save money, but to make it available. JohnC replied to CrunchyChocolate555's topic in General Discussion
Just saying, lomax can remove spirit/entities, and do healings... for MUCH cheaper, and way less involved. And I think he's better at the healing aspect than she is, having heard the stories of her healing in comparision to his. While she seems to be better at sensing/communication? Not sure as Lomax doesn't talk about all that happens with him and the like. As a personal story, when she mentioned that I had a spirit in me, I asked if anyone else could remove it, she said if you know of anyone else, they can take care of it as well. When I read that my intuition immediately flashed Lomax. It was very visiual and almost like a light bulb. I didn't get it removed, as I checked with Lomax and he said that my practice would take care of it eventually, if I did have an entity. John -
Yea.. because of this I don't put much stock in what he says. It seems plagerized, without sourcing or deep knowledge in that area and a huuuuge mix of stuff. Because of that I wonder if he has any depth in any particular direction, or just a huge amulgation of stuff, that may not be congruent in any way. John

does everyone else here find cardio/treadmill/cross trainer to taxing
JohnC replied to curious's topic in Daoist Discussion
No I don't find cross training to be too taxing, I enjoy it a lot. Your question is unclear though. John -
Equal but opposite in compliment.

Fixed, he is now 5 stars. Fixed there too. Get out of this thread, and allow them to continue as they please. John

Bolded for emphasis... thank you for pointing this out. I'd put flashing yellow lights around it if I could. I was going to point out to liminal, that you bearly mentioned retention, but you said it yourself. I know in my system (in my limited knowledge), jing dong gong, that it's all taken care of naturally via the practice and then through allowing your intuition to guide you. That said for me stretching, herbs, foam roller, and exercising completement the hell out of it. John

Lomax can do distance healing, and his top students can as well. Just a heads up. Qigongamerica.com

I have heard of buddhist, confucian, medical, martial and taoist qigong's and Robert Peng teaching and training is of taoist and buddhist. He teaches a central channel zhan zhuang posture I'd never seen before. I'm not sure though what the distinction is between them though. It seems buddhist qigong's develop insight and the mind, and body to a degree. While taoist pratices very solidly focus on the body, that then allow the energy to move to the mind. The jing-qi-shen movement... instead of ... well I don't know. From reading about Pang ming, zhineng qigong, Robert Peng, Lomax, Jenny Lamb, and other high level and effective energy works, it seems to me there is a disconnect in availability of solid learning and teaching material in the west vs in china and the like. Also a lack of availability in high level masters which show the markers of a high level master, which I think add to the disconnect in the west. That low level, or slow-no progressing practices are taught, that aren't effective, and people write about their experiences, making conclusions and the mis-information is perpetuated on the internet. That the disconnect in what is considered a 'master' or expert in the west vs China is a big one. When it sounds to me like there is a TON of information that is not on the internet, and around this topic not translated into english yet. Like that Zhineng avoids the MCO entirely and develops the entire body into a dantien, based on that the MCO is very slow development. When the mco is almost all you hear about reading english texts, and how rare it is to hear of someone that has an open MCO. Then that they are doing experiements with chi, and the extent to which they can alter or change things in a highly scientific way with chi blows my mind, and I find very interesting. Or even the development of the ldt, which some consider to be AMAZING AND ROCKET SCIENCE. "Took me 20 YEARS to fill my ldt"... when in a solid practice it should take 1 year to 2 max. John

So I've been doing SFQ for 5 months now with kunlun, and zhan zhuang. Last night I felt a lot of movement around my heart area and little pops and a lot of fear emotion coming up. Today, I've got a rash under my armpits! No major changes in anything, same food I've always been eating. Not sick, sleep normal, other than minor wake ups through the night. So... what do you guys think? I'm just going wtf?
