  2. The Term Enlightenment

Lin, but what of the scenario where the only people saying they are enlightened are the unenlightened, while the enlightened keep quiet and deny it? Doesn't this also create confusion? Personally I think we at in an age where we need the real enlightened to please stand up. This tradition of not speaking of attainments had a place but now it's just a vow, perhaps even a refuge for false humility. I want to see truly enlightened beings step forward and say, ladies and gentlemen! Not only am I successfully bringing sexy back, I am also a fully realized being. And you sir, you over there with the pony tail teaching power yoga to those soccer moms, while I agree with what you just said about everyone being fully enlightened, in this realm you appear to be a very confused young man without the slightest recognition of your own divinity. Stop over-stretching and get back to your zafu! Sean

Lezlie totally met Bubb Rubb at a local donut shop when we lived in Oakland. He was very high and she was a bit tipsy herself and he confided in her that he was rather irritated that he wasn't seeing a dime of the merchandise that sprung up around him after his commercial appearance.
  4. Sexy Beijing

I've been really enjoying this show I found on Youtube called "Sexy Beijing". It chronicles the adventures of "Su Fei", a nice young Jewish girl living in Beijing and looking for adventure, love and just to playfully explore this beautiful, ancient -- and yet now in many ways very fast paced culture. 8. Smoking

Yes, and more close to home there is our own ancestral qi. Ancestral qi can be thought of as the last 150 years or so of your ancestor's spirits hanging out with you, pulling in you in various directions in certain instances, trying to guide your destiny based on their own unresolved desires -- good, bad and everything in between, whispering in your ear, sometimes sitting in your own body, stirring your emotions, frequently influencing food preferences, cravings, etc. My Taoist teacher Liu Ming told me that cultivation will bring our unresolved ancestral qi to the surface, often just as we are about to become free of it's influence. Suddenly we are in the energetic presence of a powerful great grandfather who was a heavy chain smoker and feel a strong urge to smoke. When ancestral qi resolves, our experience can just as quickly change. Instantly in meditation there is a shift, we shiver, and strangely we no longer have any taste for cheeseburgers, that was just our father's qi craving, not our own. Essentially we are being influenced, sometimes subtly, sometimes not subtly at all, by the last few generations of our family ghosts. Interestingly, Ming taught me that human beings can not even consciously kill themselves. Suicide is always a case of unresolved ancestral qi. An enraged demonic ancestor killing you with your own hands. Sean
  9. Smoking

The problem is that it's extraordinarily rare that people smoke just one or two cigarettes every now and then. You smoke a cigarette and think, ahh, not a big deal, I can take it or leave it. Soon you are smoking one or two per week. Then you start having a pack around the house and without realizing it you are smoking one every few days. Then something stressful in your life occurs and you smoke a few in one day. The next day you are craving them and you think, ahh, just until I get through this stressful situation. Comparing smoking cigarettes to Native American peace pipe ceremony is false. This was a spiritual ceremony and the smoke was not inhaled. They puffed and blew the smoke in a ritualistic way. It was a ritual with significance. The "average Joe Indian" did not expect to be able to walk into the 7-11 and pick up a pack of smokes. The Native Americans did not have our lifestyles with easy access to rolled up tobacco and social examples of frequent daily smoking. They did not sit around smoking their pipes all day long. You are seriously playing with fire. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin. Sean

Don't smoke cigarettes. They are so addictive. Get a Macanudo and sit outside and savor it without inhaling.
  12. Lama Dorje's Astrology

Taomeow, where did you learn Chinese astrology? I was taught an introduction to Chinese polestar astrology by Liu Ming. Fascinating but I definitely had the sense that we BARELY scratched the surface. Unfortunately I'm not near Ming anymore and I'm not aware of any good books on the subject. Ming basically said there are no books in English where you can learn authentic Chinese astrology. Do you know of any decent resources? Also, do you do full charts professionally? Thanks, Sean

Just watch what happens when gays start to thrive in any community. Good restaurants start popping up, better movie theaters, interesting little art galleries, dance performances, great indie bands, the coolest bars and clubs, a thriving and playful nightlife in the floating world starts to form. Straight people have dropped the ball on art and fun people, let's face it. Sean
  15. Man Love

Pietro actually said that anal sex with a women wearing a dildo penetrating you is considered acceptable by BK Frantzis because it is still yin-yang. My understanding is that Osho, who also taught against male-male sex, has said the same thing. But what if the essential nature of a woman penetrating a yang-man was also yang? It seems the real issue is with energetics, not biology. So my question remains. Can anyone say with absolute confidence that a man always and should have a yang polarity to their nature and women always and should have a yin polarity to their nature? Honest question, I certainly don't know the answer. Sean

  17. Man Love

Great post Craig. I am tripping out on some concentric circles in my mind here but have no real clue how they all intersect: The biology of gender: male-hermaphroditic-female The polarities of yin-yuan-yang The tendency of your sexual preference: heterosexual-bisexual-homosexual I'm just going to throw some open ended questions and statement out here, freestyle. What is the relationship between yang and the biology of manhood? Are they inextricably linked? Is it possible that the proper balance of yin and yang is relatively unique for each individual? So much so that one man's yang is another man's yin? Is it possible that while yang seems to flow more naturally and with more intensity through biological men, in certain cases yin might actually flow more naturally? So that, when everything artificial is dropped, certain men will find that their true essence turns out to be very much yin? Looking at romantic heterosexual relationships, I have noticed that there is typically a more submissive and more dominant partner. Unfortunately this pattern often conforms to expected gender roles, even if the man is not actually the better leader. Causes a lot of problems. Arguably the man should "step up to the plate" and be a man. But back to previous question, is it possible he is yin and should be the submissive? Now I've also hung out with a lot of gay couples throughout my life, and I've noticed the same polarities. There is usually a pretty obvious submissive and a dominant in their relationships as well. Funny enough, I am tempted to suspect that in homosexual relationships this submissive-dominant (yin-yang?) pattern emerges even more naturally since it's based much more on the energetics and not expected gender roles. This all raises the very real possibility that sexual preference has nothing to do with our polarity. Theoretically a man could have yin essence, be very attracted to women, and very happily submit to the leadership of a strong yang women. And another very yang man might be attracted to and build a successful relationship with a yin-essenced men. Does this make it possible for male on male sex to actually be a balanced yin and yang? Does this open up the strange possibility that male on female sex can actually be imbalanced yang on yang? What is the relationship between our yin-yuan-yang essence and our sexual preference? Humbly, Sean

  20. Just started

Here is a great frame for approaching meditation I was telling my friend about the other day. She kept saying that she needed to find more discipline to meditate and that she was just so lazy about it and this and that. I said, this is the wrong frame. Think of it like this. Meditation is like being kind of broke but you have this one room in your house that is literally filled wall to wall with thick stacks of hundred dollar bills. Or gold bars, I think I said gold bars which are prettier but also inconvenient when you just want to buy a sandwich down the street. Anyway, so you have this room full of money basically, and you are kind of broke. If for some really bizarre reason you were to AVOID going into that room everyday you would not sit around thinking, damn I need to find some discipline to go in there and pick up a wad of cash, or why am I so lazy to open that door and grab a gold bar? You would probably think What is preventing me from enjoying the abundance I already have in my own home? How can I overcome these obstacles and give myself permission to simply go within my own room and gather all the riches I need to feel completely satisfied? Not sure if that is relevant at all, just wanted to tell that story. Welcome to the forum. Sean
