Corbyn couldn't take apart a cheese sandwich.
  2. Peak Guardian

I nearly pissed my self laughing reading this article: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/03/wizard-of-oz-donald-trump-united-states#comment-123265586 The Wizard of Oz is a grotesque predictor of Trump’s America a couple of quotes:
  3. The Brexit Thread

Its not a small issue - its about releasing the legal advice on Brexit.
  4. Internal Alchemy - Where and How to start?

Just from a empirical perspective this site is full of threads started by people who have tried this approach and screwed themselves up - so maybe it works but also it can go badly wrong. So to be avoided until you know what you are doing.

Revoking Art. 50 means remaining in the EU. Why do you want to be closer to Germans? They are very collectivist and do not really share our western liberal values - but they make good cars and cameras it is true.
  7. Internal Alchemy - Where and How to start?

I've heard good reports of Damo Mitchell and master Yang - but I'm not in a position to recommend - I'm sure others will oblige. PS. There's nothing wrong with experimenting for yourself and making your own way.
  8. Internal Alchemy - Where and How to start?

Sure its a jungle but you need to know what's out there. Ok there are con-men and so on - but people are not stupid (generally) and can decide for themselves what they feel a connection to and otherwise. So I think extensive reading (as well as practise) is a good idea.
  9. The Brexit Thread

As they have demonstrated through the 20th century?
  10. i think it's more subtle than that. First of all yin and yang are principles and no person is pure yang or yin, but males tend to be more yang than yin and visa versa. Yang is seen as active and yin responsive, so in terms of attraction and so on, the first overt act is with yang. But of course you could ask what induced the yang to act - and the answer would be yin. So its more like a wave of action response which continually ripples if you see what I mean. Not a simplistic relationship at all.
  11. Vipassana and now kunlun

Hi rkc, Welcome to the forum. I know nothing of Kunlun. But I am now puzzled/intrigued by the need for a rubber mat! A.
  12. Internal Alchemy - Where and How to start?

I would suggest you do a lot of background reading and looking around for a teacher - but don't tie yourself down to any system at first. You could start with : http://goldenelixir.com/press/tao_01_foundations.html https://www.amazon.com/Comprehensive-Guide-Daoist-Nei-Gong/dp/1848194102/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543843271&sr=8-1&keywords=Damo+Mitchell https://www.amazon.com/White-Moon-Mountain-Peak-Alchemical/dp/1848192568/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543843271&sr=8-2&keywords=Damo+Mitchell ... also you could ask questions on here (as long as you are prepared to sort the many and often contradictory answers).

You gave me visions of Angela Merkel rolling across the Steppes in her Panzer - 'this time there will be no Stalingrad!'.

    internalised misogyny obviously
  16. The Brexit Thread

I see Trumps Space Force on the same level as EU Army - a politicians wet dream.
  17. The Brexit Thread

I've listened to Batten and couldn't see much difference between him and Farage (except he seems more open to Tommy Robinson et al) - so suspect this is a storm in a tea cup.
  18. The Brexit Thread

i was told that the Editor of the daily Mail has changed and the new one is either pro-Europe or at least pro-may. So it just proves the mainstream media is propaganda and what you read as fact is actually opinion.
  19. The Brexit Thread

Just sharing this here although its off topic. But then perhaps remembering our glorious past is relevant.
  20. Chi - how does it feel?

For what it is worth I have found the best way to experience qi is to learn to relax physically and to cultivate stillness. Standing or sitting. To stimulate qi then gentle qi gong movements. The odd thing I found was that many of the normal body feelings (even something like indigestion!) are qi related once you feel the qi movement behind the feeling. the problem is. I think, that you can't force qi sensitivity - you just have to let it develop. Also qi is a very general term and there are actually many forms of qi (even air can be thought of as qi) - so for instance if you do martial arts you work to develop a kind of hard qi/force which feels quite different to the qi of internal arts (although it is fundamentally the same thing). One thing that is a problem is too much expectation or mental searching, vizualisations and wotnot which are not helpful. Any kind of expectation tightens you up in a way to inhibit qi. I know that's not very helpful but it is how it is.
  21. Chi - how does it feel?

If you approach your being as a spectrum of body - jing - qi - shen then if you experience a disturbance like this at the shen/mind level you can adjust be releasing the tension at different levels. Physical body, subtle energy body, mental body, consciousness. the most useful is the subtle energy (qi) body which is quite fluid. But it is usual to start with physical tension/imbalance and work up. You could try Sung Breathing exercises. You should find that the imbalance will be released and headache/turbulent thoughts will be reduced if not go away entirely. https://www.lotusneigongbristol.co.uk/sung-breathing/
  22. The Brexit Thread

Since 1066 I have some growing sympathy for May. I know she appears muddled and incoherent - weak in fact - but you have to remember that she actually took on the leadership when no-one else would or could. She did support Remain (which has many arguments for it - Brexit is not really a black and white decision it's a judgement call based on assumptions about the future) - so it must be quite difficult to govern on a mandate which you don't whole heartedly agree with. The pressure must be enormous from the various factions which want different outcomes. It is probably this, more than May's own weakness' which has led to the cobbled together 'deal'. It is the worst of both worlds kind of a thing. But in the end it is all we've got at the moment. The future is so murky it makes everything unstable and with this will come economic turbulence and bad governance.

So .... suppose she loses the vote in December and then steps down to be replaced by a hard Brexiteer - then what? They attempt a Hard Brexit without full Parliamentary support and get voted down too - so general Election and who knows who wins - if it's labour ... Corbyn goes back to Brussels with what exactly? Asks for a delay period while we sort ourselves out probably. Could go on for ever.
