    Just on a side note Aryan means 'noble' in Sanskrit and also in the early Persian language - in fact Iran and Aryan are the same word. So the Aryans are Iranians and Indians. Why the Nazis thought they were white north west European is puzzling - except of course it is all based on crazed pseudo science.

  10. Questions about Visualization.

    Ideally visualisation should be unforced and also not 'serial' except in the build up phase. The purpose is not to produce an abstract mental image but more a whole living picture. It is more of a heart/intention projection than a 'head' thing. the best way I have found to practice is to have an actual photo or picture of the image and also a text which you repeat. For instance in a Buddhist sadhana it might be some thing like 'on the crown of my head, on a lotus, on the moon seat is Chenrezig, white in colour with one head and two hands, in the left hand is a flower and in the right a rosary ....' by repeating the words your mind naturally builds up the image without any other effort. Holding the image should be natural and with little effort - gradually the image becomes more and more vivid - and you should be able to build quite complex scenes with presence and hold them indefinitely. It should be born in mind that this is specific to certain practices and in fact only stages of that practice. If the process is not used correctly it can just be a block and not so helpful - forcing and effort makes this worse. The best version is the same as if you think of someone you know well (or indeed love) and an image springs naturally to mind.

    Hi Mulan, Emotions are important in a number of ways. For a start you can understand them as E-motions - that is motion of E (where E = energy/qi etc.) So they are energy in motion or you could say active energy. If you think of your being as physical, energetic and mental - then emotions sit between the energy body and the mental body. In one direction they create heat and movement which affects the physical body creating stored up tension and so on - which could eventually lead to disease (literally dis-ease) - in the other direction they generate thoughts about the object of anger - another person or a situation. If this is very persistent then it means you have not assimilated the information in the experience or situation which generated the anger. Firstly you have to attend to your own conduct. That is remind yourself that you do not intend harm toward another (I assume this is so ) and that allowing yourself to be dominated by emotion is a loss of freedom. This is like taking a stand - you intend to be the best possible being you can be and not an emotion driven person. But that's not really enough because the anger has stored up energy and suppressing it could do you harm. Actually in higher teachings emotion can become the path - although this is not easy. So in terms of the anger itself you might need to remind yourself it is not a 'thing'. Actually it has a number of causes and conditions - such as yourself, your history, the other person and their history, also all the conditions which brought about the situation in the world which made you angry. If you imagine the surface of the an ocean which is turbulent - then this is an 'effect' caused by ocean currents coming together, the wind, the sun, temperature variation and so on. So the anger in this analogy is just the effect of turbulence which is dependent on a whole host of conditions. If just one of these conditions goes away then the turbulence will subside or at least change. As an effect it is ephemeral - in fact if you sit quietly and summon up the anger in your mind - then just watch it without trying the change anything - you will notice that the precise feeling you have will begin to alter right away. You can see that it is a temporary fluctuating effect which you are experiencing. In fact if you able to remove one of the causative conditions - such as your own identification - you can witness the anger subside - then you can confirm to yourself that it is not a 'thing' but an effect. With a bit of work you can make it subside completely - then the question is 'where is a anger now?' - where did it go? - and the answer is nowhere because it didn't really exist as a 'thing' in the first place. If the anger is very stubborn and intractable then you may need to gently probe the feeling content to see the resonances and connections within it. As you do, and the more you see and understand the energy of the anger will be gradually freed up to become available to you for normal life functions. The other thing you can do is to deliberately visualize the person with whom you are angry and deliberately and as strongly as you can wish them happiness - thus reversing the polarity of the habitually negative thoughts. This will balance your subtle body which the anger has distorted. These are just my thoughts of course

I'll stop running across your roof at night Seriously it sounds as if you are waking up some energy sensitivity and it is triggering something in your ego - for instance the ego can feel threatened by the emergence of what you might call true consciousness. Animals will pick this up as well but it is entirely natural. Do you practice on your own or do you have a teacher/ group you go to where you could talk with them about this? If not just explore these things with interest on the basis of getting feedback about energy and so on.

    Hi, I respect your choice to be celibate and I think the way you regard it's link to love very noble indeed. Sex is a very powerful force in the human psyche (if I can put it that way) and at least part of the reason for that is that otherwise the human race might die out. Spiritually there is a usually a prohibition of sex amongst monks and ascetics which stems I think from two slightly different reasons. One is the wish not to become entangled in worldly affairs and responsibilities - and the other is the wish to preserve and conserve energy. In the East in Daoism it is mostly the latter - while in Buddhism and the West it is mostly the former (although Brahmacarya in ancient 'Hinduism' was actually about energy conservation) . The other thing about sex is even more fundamental in that it is a primal energy which transgresses the boundaries of 'normal' behaviour - hence in Tantra it is sometimes called 'antinomial' - that is beyond the law (of normal safe behaviour). This is one part of the reason it is valued in Tantra where transgressive behaviour is used in various way symbolically and sometimes actually. It's quite a difficult subject and is usually kept secret for this reason. I think that a lot of strange attitudes towards sex vary over time and from culture to culture - especially towards homosexuality - and the link to blasphemy is is just part of the use of religion for social control and so on.

    What exactly did your doctor say about your spine injury? have you seen them recently to check your spine e.g. X-ray and so on?
  21. If you are forcing the energy down then yes you are doing something wrong and should stop. Any kind of approach to the MCO which involves forcing, willing, visualizing and so on - is not the MCO. There might be some purpose in clearing out channels and obstructions in manipulating energy but this part of laying the foundations and should not be mistaken for the MCO - which happens spontaneously once you have got to a certain stage.
  22. Hi, The earliest Buddha statues come from the 2/3 rd centuries A.D. (C.E.) which is some 6/700 years after the Buddha lived. In early representations such as the friezes at the Stupa at Sanchi (2/300 B.C.) the Buddha was not represented except by symbols - such as an umbrella or cushion) - so there were no Buddha statues from Early Buddhism. This has been interpreted as meaning that because the Buddha went into paranivana it was not appropriate to show him physically. This changed later possibly after influence from the extension of the Greek empire into NW India after Alexander the Great - but no one is completely sure why attitudes changed. Earliest Buddhist worship seems to have centred round tree shrines (based on the Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment) and then Stupas which contained relics of the Buddha (e.g. Bharut and Sanchi). The main form of worship was perambulation of the stupa. But later this was replaced/augmented with a Buddha statue once this idea had been commonly accepted. Given that the Pali Canon originates (mostly) from the Early Period (even tho' it was not written down until the first century BC) you will not find reference to Buddha statues for the reasons given above.
