I'm looking for a good book on wuxing theory or possible yinyang wuxing theory ... I don't want psychobabble and I don't want acupuncture ... just the principles with an emphasis on Nei Dan. Any suggestions?

The problem with the NHS is not that it is socialist but that they have introduced private sector funding and practices for many years now and screwed it up. Burnham is a Blairite New labour clone and not a socialist.

I'll send the truck to take you to the Gulag in the morning.

I've read through this four times and it just reads to me like some kind of psycho-babble. Sorry, but whatever insight you think this amounts to is nothing compared to real teachings such as the Dao, dharma or yoga ... so I don't see really why you think it is important to repeat. each to his own of course.

The first sentence doesn't make any sense at all. Why would you want to trust the ego? 'How can you trust what you cannot trust?' ... eh?
-
Well, that just seems meaningless to be honest.

What? It doesn't matter what you do, what choices you make? really?

Person or persona is a word derived from the masks that ancient greek actors wore on stage. usually it is said that the 'person' is the mask but actually the word per-sona means 'through sounding' and refers to the actors voice which comes through the mask. the mask could be that with which one identifies as being you but the 'through sounding' voice is the energy of the field/spirit which vibrates through i.e. life itself, divine power whatever - your true identity. This is to me the trick with the ego - that it is false and your true nature is the spirit itself - we need to realise this. But as the ego is a falsehood then it is important not to waste time in struggle with it but to learn to lift identification. 'waste not time opposing evil but steadfastly affirm the good'.

Mostly ... the MCO is not the MCO ... Kundalini is not kundalini. All the result of people having experiences which are not realisations.

What is the meaning of Siddhis or 'special powers'?
Apech replied to Nikolai1's topic in General Discussion
i think siddhis are just a reflection of our natural state but because most of us distracted/obstructed from our natural state we do not recognise them. Quite often people when they start to cultivate experience what I would call soft siddhis - like some precognition or distance viewing and so on - which arise spontaneously. This is because we are disclosing to ourselves our natural state and it's natural radiance shines through. This is a million miles away from the more magical siddhis of course but they arise later when more profound realisation occurs (or so I am given to understand). the ultimate siddhi is enlightenment itself. To make powers our aim could lead to distortion but to ignore them or discount them is simply failure to recognise what is happening. -

... they are rubbish at cricket as well. -
Ah ok thanks ... I have seen you post this before. I thought you were meaning karma and so forth. Actually motion and rest sounds like Ming and Xing (Life and Nature) from Daoist Internal Alchemy.

In what way are they similar?

It is by no means certain that there actually was a single person called Laozi - but I tend to think there was. I think Taomeow in a recent post said that the original Daoist text is the Yi Jing - which is of course much older and also the inspiration for many Chinese views including Confucianism. I think also that there are shades of difference between Christianity and Buddhism in terms of the key importance of the founder. In Christianity it is absolutely essential because the main teaching is the example of the life of Christ as the Son of God - if it could be proved there was no such historical person then it would be quite difficult for Christianity - obviously some underlying values could be maintained but the whole position would be substantially undermined. For Buddhism its not quite the same as you could argue that the Dharma is the correct path even if there had been no historical Buddha. Clearly it would make a huge difference but not in the same way. Was Jesus a Buddhist? Maybe. Why do you think he was?
