  1. What is wisdom in Dzogchen ?

I was with you till the last paragraph ... I don't see how mind can be abstract ... I can see how it can be abstracted ... but that would be a mindset surely. Maybe I'm splitting hairs. Thanks for explaining.
  2. What is wisdom in Dzogchen ?

  3. What is wisdom in Dzogchen ?

  4. FIFA World Cup 2014

I started off wanting the orange guys to min but ended up being happy with the result. One thing certain Germany will be happy cos the Argentinians will be very tired after that.
  5. What is wisdom in Dzogchen ?

@Goldisheavy - could you define precisely what you mean by mind and what you mean by mindset ... I think I get the points you made above but I want to be sure.

---Moderator Message --- I've locked this thread temporarily while I decide what to do about all the insults and bickering. I'll switch it back on later. --- Message Ends --- --- On second thoughts --- Unlocked again .. please avoid personal insults as it is a rule break and will result in suspension or even banning. Sorry for delay had to clear a drain in my back yard. It was full of bad smelling nastiness. --- Thank you ---

  8. What is wisdom in Dzogchen ?

Goldisheavy ... it feels like such a long time since I saw you on here. Welcome back if you have indeed been away. I have no idea what you mean by the cup of tea, cup of coffee thing but I am sure great wisdom lies therein.

There have been many times when I wished things were other than they are.
  10. Independence Day

ok well apart from gamma cameras etc. ....
  11. Independence Day

There were centuries of fighting between the English and the Scots but the UNion was a legal treaty: Also many peoples in the ex-Empire / Commonwealth were given British citizenship and the right to settle in the UK. In fact the British Empire was deconstructed as part of the agreement between Churchill and Roosevelt during the second WW. I have to say at this point that I love the Americans for coming and fighting the Nazis ... they didn't have to but they did and many died in the process ... it would have been easy for the US to concentrate on the Pacific. I know its complicated with the Russians and the looming cold war but anyway thank god for lease-lend and Eisenhower etc. Emotionally as a Brit I would rather be a 51st state than part of a Federal Europe ... but my head tells me that's nonsense and impractical.
  12. FIFA World Cup 2014

    I predict Germany 2 Brasil 1 ... but I'm usually wrong.

  15. Independence Day

So that's your technology ... hiding behind trees ... well done. Even the ideas behind the Declaration of Independence came from Locke, Rousseau and Voltaire. Come on admit it ... all the americans have invented is the hamburger and the frisbee.

  22. Hermetism or Hermeticism?

hermit (n.) Look up hermit at Dictionary.com early 12c., "religious recluse," from Old French (h)eremite, from Late Latin ermita, from Greek eremites, literally "person of the desert," from eremia "desert, solitude," from eremos "uninhabited, empty, desolate, bereft," from PIE *ere- (2) "to separate" (cognates: Latin rete "net," Lithuanian retis "sieve"). Transferred sense of "person living in solitude" is from 1799. The hermit crab (1735) was so called for its solitary habits. hermetic (adj.) Look up hermetic at Dictionary.com c.1600 (implied in hermetically), "completely sealed," also (1630s) "dealing with occult science or alchemy," from Latin hermeticus, from Greek Hermes, god of science and art, among other things, identified by Neoplatonists, mystics, and alchemists with the Egyptian god Thoth as Hermes Trismegistos "Thrice-Great Hermes," who supposedly invented the process of making a glass tube airtight (a process in alchemy) using a secret seal.
