Thanks for the pointer Harry. I remember David Twicken posted some really good introductions to Chinese medicine on the old healing tao site. If you or anyone else is interested I'll re-post them here. Good luck in the exams. Rex

Compassion isn't necessarily safe or meek and mild. As the line in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe goes 'Alsan is not a safe lion'. Buddhism isn't necessarily fluffy and cosy either. Bodhisattava adepts may use any means whatsoever to alleviate suffering and liberate beings. The only thing is they are said to know the full consequences of their actions and the effects they'll have on those on who they operate. Most 'ordinary' buddhists of course don't fall into this category and if they did try to punch above their spiritual weight would end up just being like the bastards they're supposedly helping. Here's a buddhist version of a second comming: Rex

Glad you liked it Ron. I remember reading a New Scientist article on endocrine secretions and the biochemical content of urine and possible connections to the prima materia of alchemy (I'll have to dig it out and post relevant bits). It quoted a 17th Century alchemical text which said that the prima materia was common and in plain view of everyone yet reviled by all and that maids threw it out in the street ... This also fits in with the thread on The HT forum about working with the brain: Brain Cultivation

Apparently it's got the lot so it's more than a few oddballs extracting the proverbial - so I'm told . Blokes drinking women's piss is a no no - tap water's bad enough with all that oestrogen from the pill There's an Indian Tantra on it: Taken from here.

Yoda wrote: Hi Yoda, Heart Sound is "Haaaaaawwww" as in 'horse'. Can be done vocally or sub-vocally. When performed vocally try opening up the back of the throat (don't strain). Lower Gates: urogenital muscles i.e. the ones you can use to stop the urine midflow when little hands try to take a sample. During the practice the contraction is very light to non-existent as it is more mental than physical. However starting out it might be more physical than mental, again no straining. Spinning: I think the 'official' version is 36 times clockwise and 24 times anti-clock wise though I don't count. Sorry forgot to mention that when breathing down to the heart/kidneys/testacles/ovaries it should be an inner smile as well. Rex

Yoda, Kids thrashing around the house all the time? Tell me about it - I can't even go to the bathroom in private! This practice might help: 1) Do heart sound. 2) Imagine a pipe connecting the heart and kidneys and in one breath smile down to the heart and into the kidneys and down into the testacles (women into the ovaries?). As you breath down the love/respect energy from the heart travels down into the kidneys and joins with the gentleness energy there and then both energies travel down and are stored in the testacles/ovaries. Ensure your lower gates are locked. 3) Do this around 9 times. When a mild orgasm feeling arises (no woodies involved here ) move the energy up to the crown and spin. 4) From the crown move it down into the navel or back into the testacles/ovaries and start again. Two to three sets will take between 10 - 15 mins. Sorted! rex

Well I never! Couldn't contain myself and just had to write this after coming out of the chatroom. Having never used a chat room before it was all very confusing and unless you're a fast typer it can be difficult to keep up - there was some really good conversations going which unfortunately got missed or cut short . Well I suppose it's probably not the right medium for really in depth snappy exchanges, that and the time difference between Europe and the US - we're all on different stages of the daily energy cycle and doing different things etc. Anway it was a real pleasure chatting to a lovely bunch of people. rex

Is it me or has the Resources Section started to move from it's previously easy to find static position?

There's also Clear Light of Bliss. Depends on whether you're just doing background reading or really intend to take the practice up:- Background reading: Lama Yeshe's The Bliss of Inner Fire. Taking practice up: All of them. Ignore the advice about the necessary qualifications to practice and preparation at your peril. Trunk's site has some information on the Six Yogas. rex

Hello GrandTrinity, Don't know what the best book on Buddhism is as its such a vast subject. Lama Yeshe's book are a nice read and may cover your interest: Lama Yeshe Amazon Listing rex

Vamacara Tantra seems remarkably similar to Healing Love. As usual with stuff like this prudence and caution is advised (you don't want to go mucking up your spiritual life and/or your sex life do you? ) (Bugger! meant to put this in the Resources section )

Hi Turbo, The Mystical Qabalah comes well recomended. Chapter two basically says 'a rose of the west shouldn't blossom like a lotus of the east'. For the times the book was written and with the information available back then (1935) it was probably a valid argument. For present day Christians with a specialised spiritual vocation whose qabalistic work is inseperable from their religious faith this is still a powerful argument. I don't think it applies to today's seekers who haven't been able to make a strong connection to Christianity as they don't necessarily give up western values just because they take up some form of eastern spiritual practice. Also although the symbolism differs when it comes to motivation and methods Christian Qabalah and Tibetan Buddhism are very similar. All the best, rex
