On the surface, if you are having to watch tv at your girlfriend's house, then you are "doing it wrong", as in, you are watching tv the wrong way- you should get your own.

 

The other meaning, of course, being that if you're at your girlfriend's house and you are watching tv, it means you are doing it wrong, as in, doing "her" wrong, as in, you aren't doing her, and instead are watching tv, and you need to get on it.

 

Of course, you could be watching tv after. Or just before. But jokes aren't always meant to cover all logistic eventualities

Isnt it an epic fail when someone pushes a point? Seems like Vmarco.

It just seems not kind or sane to take the forum so seriously.

We are on a computer connected to a forum over the internet.

Some of the "trolls" we encounter like to get on and get people worked up.

To be completely forthcomming they get off on it. So, I guess Im just concerned over the sanity of the forum. Sure we can ignore people but it just ignore's the problem which is the combative nature already present in the forum.

dopamine levels around here are getting pretty low and I am not talking myself.

Could someone create a clever imitation on this forum to discredit the author? Maybe, but why?

I have never understood it. Apparently obsessed fans tend to imitate people because they like the ideas. They also do it to feel important, since they feel... I am guessing insecure or inadequate?

I liken it to the guy on irc in the 90s that pretended to be Jim Carrey as the "riddeler". He didnt have his own persona, wasnt creative enough to create his own. So evidently borrowed from someone else? I dont know how to feel about it.

It's kind of like going to take your clinical psychology classes in college and finding out that yes there are people who are necrophiliacs. If you dont know what that word means... Dont look it up it would disturb your mind.

Lol thank you Marblehead. Having some time to meditate on this and creatively expressing this has finally made me realize I am focusing too much energy on this. Or I was? Yes cliches are viral displays of easily communicated and spread information. Mass communication is often cliched or riddled with cliches. Maybe we dont like cliches because they are kind of "empty".

How you relate this to workplace gossip i have yet to fathom. Perhaps at some stage, upon deeper reflection, something familiar might lend a spark and the connection will show itself. But then, i am not sure if its even worth the trouble to think this over.

I am quite sure that the workplace gossip analogy explained the original statement of people generally being full of contradictions. We may choose to agree with most or part of a general idea. Sometimes we reject the rest. The analogy of a gossip being "good" is just one colorful metaphor. Its also like the Evangelist that has focused on one area of a holy writing, at the sacrifice of other areas. Since this happens often with any scripture, we are sometimes unaware of shadowy areas of knowlege or awareness we did not persue.

Its not about being judgmental of another - its about learning and making the effort to apply a very basic human communication agenda, one which Vmarco does not seem to have in order, but if indeed he has the capability to be more adaptive and accommodating, he has been very miserly in showing such qualities so far.

This is where we agree. It is my own shortcomming that I find conflict funny. There are many personal reasons for this. I would not stir things up haphazardly or deliberately today.

Cruelty is one so-called virtue of scholars who are just "of the mind". I say that to distinguish between those who are more empathetic or emotional based in their learning curve. For people who are purely mental and this is a rough subject, knowledge and the mental problem solving aspect is held of higher value over comradery or friendship. I am approaching this subject from the aspect of human behaviour. However, we all need people and it seems a shame that learning this aspect of human interaction is difficult for these ones. This is not a "diss" it is just an aspect of human behaviour.

Why did I post? I for some reason understood the whys of the original postee. I merely mean to inform only. However in a "Community" it is of better benefit to get along and understand differences rather than attempt to usurp, control or push an agenda.

If you agree with what Ive said it sounds like my perspective is almost the same CowTao. We seek to understand, inform and/or harmonize if it is not possible to completely get along. I realize not everyone does get along, yet we can't try to wage wars all the time. Edit: It isnt fun to try to wage war, especially on a forum.

Hmm. Is not everyone contradictory in some way or another?

Kind of like the workplace gossip who is extra-nice to you in the breakroom because earlier they stabbed you in the back by gossiping about you to a friend earlier.

Is the person Good? Well they may be in many senses of the word. However, it still doesnt change the fact that they are a backstabber and a gossip.

Personally, I havn't seen anything wrong in what he has said. Of course it has been a while since I have visited the forum. The only crime I have seen so far is outspokenness. If that is a crime, I am guilty of this too.

It is sometimes easier to make people aware of things than to move against something. When ideas and paradigms conflict there will always be conflict. Too bad that I find it humourous.

VMarco, I am glad to hear of your acheivements. I havnt been on this forum for quite some time now.

My mind was clouded for at least a good year that I had to work through due to a stressor. However, I also came out of it a better person.

Personally, I cant help but wonder if you were targeted because I responded.

Sorry I missed that thread. Coming up with a vocabulary to discuss honesty in an honest way is certainly of interest to me.

Nothing is ever an absolute. This is in as much as any chair is made up of the same material which is a metaphor for honesty.

Because of our limited awareness, sometimes some of our fellow humans take this flaw "for a ride" when they lie.

Let me break it down further so you understand, as I have had the habit of being utterly ambiguous in the past with my explainations.

All of us have some measure of awareness. This awareness is increased when people bring things to our attention that we were not aware of before. In turn, sometimes because what we see disturbs us or makes us angry or upset we ignore things or close our awareness off.

The fact is that no human can be completely aware all of the time and we falter or give misinformation sometimes when we truely intend not to. Me personally, it makes me sound unsure of myself when I have to truely give the answer "I dont know". This is because there may be so many unknowns that affect the outcome known as X.

Such as: When will so and so be home? Well she did say that she had to run this and this errand and most likely will be home by 5pm. This is of course if one of the errands doesnt take too long and possibly could.

People who lie count on the fact that people are not aware and count on this. They either hope to gain something or sometimes I have observed they do it for fun just to see reactions. There are some however that do it for power like for example in politics. Politics is full of half truths doctored up to sound good based upon social research on what groups of people like what. For example there are Rush Limbaugh followers out here in the states that have a following because what he says they like. The same can be said of Huckabee.

In essence of what I am saying in the above link I posted to a note on facebook, hopefully mankind will soon see the destructive nature of not being true to a greater awareness of things and finally wake up. Humanity sleeps... quite deep still.

I hope there is still time. Hope offers nothing however.

I am no moderator. I have noticed several different forums over the years dealing with spirituality in general just go under. I can only guess at these things. In my observation, it seems when something escalates people involved somehow think that there is something they can do that they can get away with. This usually snowballs out of control. How to prevent it? I am unsure.

My faults I try to deal with. Yes, we all have them yet some of us beat our selves up repeatedly over things. Something Ive only recently been able to overcome.

I suppose back on track... I can only remember one time that my anger blinded me. I allowed myself to get wrapped up in it. Instead I should have asked myself: Am I ever going to meet this person in real life? No. What importance is it if I am some how "snubbed" on a forum? none.

The word especially tends to take a negative aspect when online, so I think it is up to all of us to try to make what we post as positive as possible. There have been times where I wanted to post despite the fact that what I said would have come off as negative. In those cases I should not have over the years on different forums.

Forums can be taken very very seriously it seems. When people give opinions, that is usually how they feel from the fiber of their being? Is it right or wrong? No. Its not wrong or right. It is when we make something wrong or right that it escalates. I don't mean this from the perspective of times past nondual type blah blah. I simply mean when we begin to judge right or wrong we start down this path we are talking about. People get bent out of shape, peoples feelings get hurt... someone leaves. Things are what they are. It doesnt afford much in the neighborhood of insight. Then again it seems that people might want to debate on how right or wrong that statement is.

Course I am just a moron standing on the back of greatness. The last paragraph was more or less inspired by Neale David Walsch's Conversations with God. Still doing Stillness-Movement. Heart palpatations have gone away. Peace guys

I went for a walk last Saturday and ended up here three days before. I went around in circles for a few days with too much water and enough food to feel satisfied. I felt I could do as I please and people wouldnt understand why. No more could they be found again, and the answer lies in vane.
