Do the ears come your mom's side or your dad's side of the family?

Nice synopsis Yoda. Who would have thought you could get some order from all this madness. Me - I just hang out for the entertainment value.

I've always heard that pigs (Chinese pot belly) make good pets. They are darn cute, but I've got enough going on with the rabbit.

Lot's of threads on this forum veer away from taoism proper (whatever that is).

No resolutions this year. I just want to have a better year. Look forward to turning 50.

Who you calling backward, pal? Watch it, or I'll come down there and whoop your SC butt!

I've noticed that I have a hard time reading large blocks of text of the screen - not just here, but in general. I skim over extremely long posts or if I want to read the whole thing, I print it out. Anyone else have the same problem?

the effects of psychedelics on the energy body?

And another 2 cents - my xH did a lot of acid in college and is now having a lot of problems with depression/anxiety. He firmly believes the drugs messed up his body chemistry. -
Less interested in Kunlun at this point, more interested in meeting some of the bums IRL. Charlottesville is within driving distance for me.

I want to start practicing Tao, but there are some problems...

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. Whatever that means. -

Huh? I don't think that dollars spent necessarily equates with the quality of teaching. This is something that has been kicked around on this forum before. There are lots of students on this site with lots of teachers - some cost more, some cost less. Agreed. -
I wasn't saying that you had. Please don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say. I just meant that people generally want to share what works for them. It's kind of like me trying to share with my family, but they just don't get it. I certainly don't understand the need to criticize someone elses path. Sometimes I think it comes from insecurity or defensiveness. Some people just can't consider that any other paths are equally valid. Either way - my comment wasn't a knock on you. Sorry if you took it that way.

I think sometimes when you find something that works you want to share it with other people. Kinda like you and Sifu Max (no disrespect intended). But what works for one person does not necessarily work for another. We all need to find our own paths.

I find it interesting that many newer members (those of us who have been around less than 6 months) come on to the forum and then have a hissy fit because it turns out to not be what we thought it would be. A forum is what it's members make it, and those members who have been here for a while have learned to survive the bickering and goofing around. Maybe they know something we don't? Just a thought...

I wondered the same thing. I'm hoping that his (unusual) silence is a good thing.

I just hope you weren't running around in your underwear with towels around your necks. I have four brothers - I know the deal.

I hope you're including yourself in that statement.

Alan Watts - Teachings and limitations of a man
VeeCee replied to MASTERforge's topic in General Discussion
Mikaelz - I didn't say that Watts was a guru, only that the original post reminded me of our conversation regarding gurus. Nor do I think acknowledging the fact that we are all human gives us an excuse to be inferior and not live up to our own potential. I think Xuesheng's post expresses my thought better and more clearly than mine. -

Which sort of goes back to the convesation we had about gurus a while back - and the danger of following anyone, as we are all only human. -
Actually, there are a few of us whose main interest is philosophical taoism, but it doesn't show up very frequently as a topic of discussion.

Was traveling this weekend with my boss, who is about 8 year younger than me and very reactionary. I noticed how I just don't get as upset about "things" anymore. Possibly the age difference, possibly the meditation - probably both.

Mat had some nice thoughts on another thread that I thought are appropriate here.
