It's definitely a Buddhist/Taoist wedding motif, but traditional Shakahuchi-Kyoto duets are probably out. If I get 100 suggestions for the same song, and I can purchase it off Itunes, then I will trust your collective judgment implicitly, unless my fiance barfs at the sound of it

yeah, sweating at work is a drag. My only alarm went off when I read your reference to the Royal Court - there are two camps regarding the Furey's backbridging - yes and absolutely not. A pilates instructor told me that the cervical vertebrae are not designed for compression; their function is rotation. Made sense to me, and you can still get the benefits with an ambitious 5 Tibetan Rites routine.

Thanks, man, and thank you all for your fine suggestions. I think I'm going to go with Marilyn Manson. -

My lady friend wants Dave Matthews. My fiance wants Korn. (yet another tasteless and unoriginal joke by Yours Truly) She wants poetic lyricism, melifluous melody, fertile tempo - with finger cymbals. She's low maintenance. -
I got the pmemory ebook and talked to the developer last year, and I'm sold. If I do decide to pursue a nursing degree, I'll slap down the $300. I'm not slogging through organic chemistry classes at my age without this skill. I got the pmemory ebook and talked to the developer last year, and I'm sold. If I do decide to pursue a nursing degree, or go for some measure of TCM skillset, I'll slap down the $300. I'm not slogging through organic chemistry classes at my age without this ability.

I am choosing to go ahead with the process of opening all the major energy gates of the head, including the willful construction of energy pathways throughout the brain. Frantzis is unequivocal about the risks and cautions the practitioner to resist constructing pathways any deeper than a quarter of an inch into the skull. Frantzis appears to be a more cautionary instructor in general, as he holds the water method as a superior and safer method than the various fire methods. Chia, writing in "Awaken Healing Light of the Tao," goes on at great length about the MCO points in the brain and the promises of engaging the "Crystal Palace," that deep interior space composed of the Thalumus, hypothalamus, Pituitary, and pineal galand. (I love Chia's illustrations - I think they are useful teaching tools - and his writing style is a little saccharine, but I can handle it. Daniel Reid has some fantastic post-chi-kung workout techniques for keeping the chi from stagnating in the brain. They feel terrific when you perform them and your head feels light and wakeful when completed. The pathways I have constructed in my brain haven't left me with any ill effects; no headaches, no strange sensations along the optic nerve, no blurred vision, no hallucinations, no mental illness (that I know of). Circuitous routes between L and R Eustachian tubes feel great, unencumbered, open. I am counting on the old souls in here, farther along than I, to fire off any warning shots. For background, I am a text-book left-handed right-brainer, so my visualization skills are serving me well, at least in this endeavor. Thanks in advance.

Chi flow through the brain - precautions taken
Encephalon replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
I just spoke with the woman who will be teaching my first Spring Forest class out here in LA next January. When I asked her about chi flow through the brain, she told me to slam on the brakes for now. So, I'd like to thank everyone again for all the feedback, both encouraging and cautionary, who so charitably offered their two cents. Time to go back to what I was doing before - opening up the legs. -

I'm only doing it for the health insurance. Thank you very much. I lived in CO for 7 years. When I get out there and show my wife my old life, I'll buy ya a beer. -
Bad Breath From Tea? Especially Green Tea?
Encephalon replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in Healthy Bums
NoWayMan. Uh-uh. Green tea has a hygienic effect all away around. It has an alkalizing effect on your bloodstream, and stomach, but too much in the morning can leave an empty stomach sour. -
Chi flow through the brain - precautions taken
Encephalon replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the feedback. I will humbly submit myself as a lab rat for the benefit of my Tao Bums Brethren. I'm going for it, basing my decision on a few points - I've only been doing nei kung for 27 months, but they have been steady and consistent, and the last six months I've been averaging 2-4 hours of bodywork/day. That ain't nothin' compared to some; I readily acknowledge this, but my MCO runs smoothly. My energy often goes wherever it wants and I gently follow it, coaxing it along, but not forcing it. I keep my legs in the lockout position (crossed) at all times and generally don't feel like I'm failing to ground myself properly. In fact, the downward current, from my crown to the perineum, where it splits off into both legs, feels pretty damn good. I've also done yoga on and off for probably 7 years, and have been a health freak for 30. I do have access to professional guidance by my nei kung instructor here in LA, in case anything really weird happens. . My risk factors are minimal (or so I think); I quit drinking in 1982, and other than a pattern of worshipping at the Bart Simpson Church of Underachievement, my mental state has always included an ample dose of humor. The only other factor regarding my mental health is that I'm getting married this Saturday, so who knows what lurid demons are preparing to surface!! I just bought Chunyi Lin's Level One medical qigong fundamentals and am taking the level one class in January. If I've completely lost it by then, ya'll will be the first to know. -
Chi flow through the brain - precautions taken

Okay. That's what I wanted to hear. As long as you're not the guy that I saw by that thing on E. Colfax when that light was shining behind the Cherry Creek Mall that one time. You aren't that guy, are you? Just kidding. -

I'll have to buy you a beer for sending me this link. Thanks. What do you mean by 3 dantiens in the head? I thought the three are the lower (gut) middle (heart) upper (mind). Do you mean 3 energy gates in the head simultaneously? I'll need some reference materials for the Du and Si shen cong pathways. What's your source? -
Chi flow through the brain - precautions taken
Encephalon replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
Holy Jeez - that's heavy. From what I can infer, you repressed abusive childhood trauma during your formative years and the memories spilled out uncontrollably from unsupervised chi manipulation of the upper tan tien. Is this accurate? May I humbly ask, how old were you when this crisis unfolded, how long had you been performing unsupervised UTT visualization/energy manipulation, and during the four years of healing time, were you functional or mentally disabled? What healing modality proved the most efficacious? I'm truly grateful for your candor. -
I had to stop because it was a little too challenging for my shoulders, but mine are pretty beaten up. Talk about creating new neural pathways and mind/muscle connections - great stuff.

I'd be tickled pink to know what your nei kung sequence is because this is Exactly what I do following the same 5 Tibetan Rites routine. My MCO also first presented itself in the reverse direction. Astonishing parallels; are you as handsome, intelligent, witty, and modest as I am? Catch you tomorrow; gotta go. There's a ton of stuff in here to answer the very question you pose. Why is creativity considered a feminine trait when women don't create anything except babies?

And it's 7pm here, and I've had way too much tea, which makes me way too short-fused!! -

A minor point I tried to make in my grad thesis - A Buddhist spin on consumerism - was that consumerism as it is practiced today, what some call "late-stage capitalism," essentially bleeds creativity out of the populace by saturating the environment with commercial messages that stoke our instinctual wiring at the expense of our creative faculties, keeping us in a state of consumer impotency. It's a subject that deserves all the attention it can get. -

You're absolutely right about the first paragraph, alhtough you're attitude is a little presumptuous. This event occured more than 20 years ago. I was only 28 years old and wasn't pretending to be anything. I was in a very yin environment and enjoyed the benefits of the healing energy the experience afforded me. But there are times when everyone has to bust out and stretch their personal boundaries. I was talking about the value of leaping into an unfamiliar environment and testing your mettle. This does play into the process of balance and integration. -

My wife-to-be (as of this Saturday!!) says there's an acronym in her forum called MUD - Made Up Drama. This could explain what Agape was really trying to accomplish, unless we are to conclude that his query is genuine, as whacked as it was. -

You've got nothing to apologize about. There is an ebb and flow in a human life regarding our sensitivity to tender subjects. I throw in a heavy dose of humor when I think a situation is getting too serious. "It's sometimes hard to keep my heart open as a result." Yes, and you may feel like this for months, maybe years. You're entitled to your own healing pace. Be well. -

in 1988 I was living in an urban middle-class commune in Denver, working with a pediatrician, playing the piano, cooking, learning about relationships, getting in touch with my female side... ad nauseum... ...then my lover dropped her romantic ties with me and established them with another member of the household. Ouch! I moved up to 10,000 feet, worked half a ski season and then bolted for Seattle where I applied to all the Bering Sea fisheries offices. One week later I was in the Middle of the Aleutian Islands processing fish 18 hours a day. Any male (or female, for that matter) who feels like they're soaking in yin energy - pack yer shit. Apply online. Go process cod. Live on the ocean for three months. Come back with $$$. I promise you, you'll have plenty of yang to spare. You will have a tendency to preface every sentence with the words "fuck," fucking," or "fucked," so you'll hafta go through detox before having dinner at grandma's house but you'll be better for it. I'm pretty sure there's still fish left in the Bering. My turn at a bad joke, I guess. -

You aren't presenting an argument; you're vomiting a mass of delusion, misinformation, cultural and sexual biases all over the floor and expecting all of us to gather round and bare the burden of picking through the choicest morsels. This is a regular occurance in this forum because the average age is very young and the educational level is modest. I don't wish to beat anyone up for being either young or uneducated. These are forgivable offenses! Actually, Agape, your "argument" as you call it, is more of an emotional reaction that is robbing you of clear thinking, as you facetiously described Immortal Sister's "dilemma" (and I'm not being facetious). Cheers.
