  1. Falun Gong

Yeah that was part of it. I know (from experience) that it is best to stick with one form of practice and keep doing it, than to keep putting one form down to pick up another for a couple of weeks, and keep chopping and changing. But the literature seems to (or at least to me it does) suggest that it is bad from some sort of moral point of view, rather than a practical one. That too. I'm a fan of the parable of the boat, once you get across the river, you have no need for the boat. Schools of cultivation are, I think, just about methods of cultivation. Some may be better for one person, and others better for another ("better" meaning more likely to work, not intrinsically better) Any system that says "I am the only true system" is just too strict for me. Why ups and downs? Both good practices.

If you've had time to try Opera what are you first thoughts? Are you loving it? It is the nerd's choice I think (I can say that cos I'm a nerd too!)
  3. Falun Gong

I did some FG some time ago, and read the books etc. It was quite interesting but there are some strange things about the organisations leader, and the whole thing (in the books) was somewhat cultish. The people who ran the group were very nice (and not cultish at all!), and the actual movements themselves seemed quite powerful and easy to learn from the video or the books. They were quite similar to some of the positions from Zhang Zhuang, and to the Marriage of Heaven and Earth. I gave it up and decided to concentrate on other forms after becoming slightly alarmed by some of the literature, but, I repeat, the people I was mixing with at the sessions were all just "regular people", and I had no problems with any of them. I don't remember any of them seeming any more powerful than any other QiGong practitioner. I suppose, like anything else it will be a case of you trying it yourself to decide what you think about it. Just be careful not to be too taken in by the literature. What practices do you currently do?
  4. Thanks Yoda I have been trying different things with the WSM since I got it. So far I seem to find that I prefer (mentally) and get better results with (from a physical and sensations) point of view giving away my flesh bit by bit. Following on from a comment in the booklet, I have found that giving away a piece of flesh which is currently giving me pain does seem to help alleviate that pain. So, when I currently practice WSM thats the approach I take. It seems to lead me better to the skeleton part if I visualize it appearing bone by bone as I have the flesh/skin/organs etc strip away. I have sensations of chi moving around my body, or certainly in specific parts of it, as I strip the flesh and also as I visualize the whiteness of the bones. The only issue I have, and am still playing with, is if I should stick to some order in the giving away. I think I will probably end up with giving away those parts of my flesh that ache, then probably my stomach (its just too big to give away in one go!), and then have all the rest just fall off at once. When I have the bones dissolve, they all go at once and get blown away, which does work for me. Overall, WSM seems to be the easiest method I have come across so far for "getting into the body" as Eckhart Tolle would call it (have you come across him?), and for leading me into other meditations (eg MO/Inner Smile). When you are done with WSM, do you imagine all the bones and flesh etc coming back? I have read one version on the web that suggests imagining that the flesh you give away is "bad" or "diseased", and that at the end you reclothe yourself in healthy flesh. The first part would take away from the offering part of WSM (why give away bad flesh as an offering) but the second part would seem to make sense from a health practice point of view. Bodri's version does not mention this, so I guess I should just leave the meditation as emptyness. Interesting. I'll try that. I often do the Sounds whilst driving, or WSM in total, but I had not considered doing just parts of the body. I notice from HT that you do zhang zhuang, which is another practice of mine (from Lam Kam Chuen). I have been suffering from a badminton induced leg injury recently, so have been skipping ZZ (though I should really do the seated "15 min a day" seated version - no excuse for that). Have you tried combining ZZ and WSM? I know that Master Lam says do nothing with standing but it seems to me to be a good combination, though of course I'll know better once I've actually tried it! Cheers
  5. Training Blogs

I'm all for this, as perhaps reading about other peoples' successes (and maybe their struggles) with their training routine will help inspire me to stick to one of my own. Looking forward to the first logs...
  6. Thanks. BTW the email notification from the forum says You are receiving this email because you are watching the topic, "" at Tao Bums... (ie does not display the name of the topic) Great site by the way. I have been a lurker on HT for years, but this is the first time I have ventured into actually posting anywhere. This is a clearer layout than at HT, much easier to see new posts etc.

Cool. I have used Opera for years so feel free to ask if you get any problems. Download the beta version of 7.6 from http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?...40&pagenumber=1 to get all the latest features. It is a very stable beta. Ah, thats the Windows version (which I use), but you can get a preview for Linux from http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=72832

Yeah, Opera is free (if you don't mind a small adbar, and only about $39 to buy anyway), no adware, no junk, very secure, very fast. It has lots of really great features such as MDI browsing, mouse gestures, built in email, news, chat, RSS, very customizable (you can skin it, change all the menus, including right click pop up menus, add any buttons anywhere etc). And the entire install package is only 6MB. I really cant recommend it enough. Never used Firefox as I just can't see it being able to offer anything that Opera doesn't. From the Opera forums I gather than FF is still slower, bigger and much more prone to crash (because of all of its plugins), and just not as funky. Mind you, anything is better than IE!
  9. OK, thanks. I have reposted, so could you please delete the second post from Guest (ie not the one from Yoda!) in "Another White Skeleton Infomercial" Thanks
  10. Hi Yoda Following your good comments about WSM, I ordered the booklet and I have started adding it to my list of meditations I try to do every day (but like sean I find it hard to stick to any practice routine ) I have a question abot WSM that I was hoping you could answer. When "giving up your flesh" do you do so in any order (eg start with feet and keep going upwards), or do you just imagine it all going at once? Do you tear it off, or have it fall off?
  11. I posted as Guest before I registered (don't ask me why ) Is there anyway I can change the post to be from me after the event?

If you use Opera (www.opera.com) and get the latest preview version, you can get it to automatically scale the entire page (text + images) to fit to your screen width. Opera is also the world's best browser for plenty of other reasons!
