Yes, growant is undergoing treatment and responding positively to the treatment. The treatment is done to where it resonates into the muscles, bones, internal organs and spirit. The strikes are very controlled; however, the energy used is very similar to Spirit Fighting. In treating a person, your are also treating the spirit encased in a body. In some aspects healing is more difficult as everything is done in a very controlled situation so as not to damage the body/spirit in the healing process. It's not a form of cooperative energy nor does a person have to try and tune in/out, it's not guided imagery nor hypnosis, not crystal healing, not angel healing, nor trying to mentally send out positive vibes. It pretty much metaphorically *ROCKS* you, body and spirit. It's very difficult to describe until someone has been through this session. This will give a person euphoric highs, bliss, happiness; similar yet different than the Kunlun. growant having been to a Kunlun seminar/class will be able to better explain the difference regarding his personal experience. My sifu turning 66yrs hits like he was in his 40's. FYI: His real internal strength exploded in his 40s, so in all probability in his 20's-30's a young "Mike Tyson" may have easily taken him out even without using a pipe, knife, brick, etc. At age 40 something happened to his energy balance which changed him completely. So his reaction time is definitely better in his 40's-60's while his defensive and offensive power as mentioned above would destroy anything close or far above a young "Mike Tyson" even with a pipe, knife, brick, *Even without the better reaction time*, etc. SSTT is strange in that it gets better with age if practiced properly. I reached the peak of my physical strength 20 yrs ago pushing myself in a purely physical art of karate(Old School). Those martial artist who reached my skill level above, below or equal; practiced as hard as I did --Today they are mostly cripples with severe joint, bone and muscle pains. If I had remained in any 'hard physical style' whether karate, kung fu, etc. I would also be a cripple. I can control my internal energy; however, my external physical strength is not as it was 20 or 30yrs ago. A fact of life, the older the person after 35+, the more muscle atrophy. I've noticed that people are far more understanding, tolerant.. and comprehend the deeper meanings of Tao and martial arts. 35+ years ago, "Burning Palm" or any internal arts is not something the civilized world understood? Yes, we all have to be more tolerant and forgiving of others! Rumors were "OH NO... Especially if you've been under attack. When you ask, On another not-so-related note. I've heard that self-cultivation to "high" levels is enough to keep this sort of stuff from happening to yourself, period. -Anyone here vouch for that? Yes, I can vouch for SSTT in being able to rid yourself of curses, entities, black magic or whatever name it goes by. To clarify SSTT can perform exorcisms, but the main purpose of SSTT is that it reverses the 'Curse/Black Magic' back onto the person or entity that initiated the 'Curse'. It's sad as sometimes we feel sorry for our enemies because the 'Curse' they send will reverse back on them without you being conscious that they were ever trying to do you harm. I'll use the term SSTT monks, not because we want to be monks. Rather the ill will pushed upon the SSTT Sifus severely incapacitates those who wish us harm. We may separate ourselves from society for even a short time, so our enemies will not feel the pain that they have inflicted upon themselves. Hi Ape, You are working in some serious areas. What the U.S. calls Indians(Native Americans), the Autralians may call Aborigines(Native Australians). The Native American do suffer much from a variety of drugs and alcohols addictions that are prevalent on the 'Reservation(rez)'. This is one of the reasons why I want a 2nd opinion from Indian Heath Services(IHS-free medical services from medical doctors, establish for Native American in the U.S.) I really do depend on IHS because mental disorders and possessions have so many common elements that independently the symptoms look nearly identical. The main difference is when I look at an IHS medical chart and the drug dosage is high enough to render any patient a "vegetable". So if these people should at most be catatonic with schizophrenia or basically "zombies".. How are these people able attempt suicide? Any normal or severely depressed person with or without catatonic schizophrenia would at most be a vegetable yet they function in a very intelligent systematic way on gaining access to items to kill themselves. SSTT in it's root form, forces a person to creating metaphical arcs and doors that don't exist in real time or space IMO:Hence the ridicule and the difficulty why SSTT has had such a high drop out rate in the past. No one in their right mind in normal society would want to practice the root form; hence, SSTT was created to be more user-friendly. SSTT root form is so rough for the average person that the normal response is to quit or just stay out of the presence of anyone deeply rooted in SSTT. This same *fear factor* will play tricks on even the SSTT instructor and/or students. IMHO-It's not being around my sifu as he tried really hard to be part of society and even I work really hard to blend in with society --some of my students have accused myself and my sifu of being inhumane and other "four letter" words, so in a way my sifu and are are used to being ridiculed in public and/or in private. FYI: This is from people who know us! This strange *FEAR FACTOR* in SSTT is amped up to a level where no one wants to be around us.. whether humans or spirits. Neither myself nor my sifu has anything personal against anyone; however, when doing these sets/kata, etc. even humans feel very uncomfortable. The easiest way to explain this is like moving mudras. Laying of hands is extremely painful; however, we are trying to get attain a certain resonance level so when someone feels the energy.. -The resonance is still there after we have made contact. We aren't using any verbal memorized mantras nor are we focusing on any single thought. This resonance level of the moves is the closest to a 'mantra' and the focus on accurately entering/exiting physical doors on metaphysical planes is another conscious effort. This frustrates most new students. For the average SSTT student, I will not push the accuracy of the doors nor will they have to feel the resonance levels other than to heal. I realize that this is the way to retain students in the basic stages. In words this may not make any sense; however, Ape -with your martial arts experience and training if you were able to see and feel the mechanics of how it works.. you would be able to catch on very easily. The two new students that visited us from TaoBums never met us before and had studied in many martial arts styles. They have learn in the past several months what another SSTT class running on Saturdays haven't been able to do for the past 10 years. Someone that is wired into martial arts training being more than just putting people in a ring or cage will do much better. That is why portcraig and growant from TaoBums have advanced much quicker and at this time know more than their SSTT counter parts that have studied for many more years. The other SSTT group are much more into Christianity and talking about something other than the "Holy Spirit" or "Holy Ghost" gets confusing for them. Again I'm not trying to make fun of any Christians on this board, the fact are what they are. My sifu does go after rogue SSTT Instructors try to pretend they are 'sifus'--so we don't have a whole lot of SSTT Instructors and even fewer Sifus. If you have seen our forum or YouTube, we do get harassed by "Jesus obsessed people" and other "Clowns"..again, I have nothing against Clowns. Clowns are allowed to post to SSTT YouTube to entertain SSTT members, but I don't show this to the public. http://www.sstt-institute.org/forum.html ..but when the SH-T hits the fan, we have people from all over the world emailing us from our YouTubes and forum. There is a chance that some of these people do require medical help so the first thing I do is ask if they have seeked help from a medical professional. Again Spirit or Demonic possessions are so similar to severe depression, manic depression, schizophrenia that I want to see a medical chart on these people before I try to help them if for anything else to prevent a "law suit". The average person with standard depression, manic depression, schizophrenia on medication will be fully functional or nearly functional without having to do any exorcism or spirit fighting. It's the people that are so heavily medicated yet function the same as if they had never taken medication... this is the first sign that tells me something isn't right. Granted in a video we can't tell if the children were joking or not joking; however, the post below is very believable and I am very aware of someone who has been through something very similar, a wife trying to kill her husband. Medical doctors were helpless as he didn't act any different rather saw life differently as he was slowly dying. He was told to stop work, stop normal life and just practice the root base of SSTT. The rest is history.. however this man had to have enough faith in what he was doing to stop work, stop normal life and only practice the root SSTT sets. It sounds really crazy to people on or off medication or not needing any medication However; no one who has seen our YouTube videos has stopped work and life to practice turn in a medical report. My hope is that medical science has cured them. --IMHO: This just means SSTT members and new members are crazy, but at least there is enough conscience & restrait that SSTT members are on a 'short leash' and won't harm people and domestic animals SSTT will work with those who are still cognizant and fighting for their own personal lives and sanity rather than fighting in a tournament. Spirit Ape, you already know more than the average person on the board and lived a life that is not the *AVERAGE* life. --Previously, I had said that the SSTT Forum is heavily monitored only because most people don't believe in the paranormal, it's suppose to happen only in 3rd World countries because they are ignorant and uneducated.. so this means uneducated=superstitious=crazy. However; those posting to the SSTT boards or emailiing SSTT seeking help aren't living in 3rd World countries while fighting for what little sanity they have. They have gone the traditional medical route & standard civilized Christian route and both methods aren't working where SSTT in the past has succeeded with individuals with some tenacity. --the type of topics that are being discussed here just don't fly with the "Wall Street Journal" Yuppie type mentality. This was the reason why SSTT was trying to protect "them" from being mocked. I never really minded the criticism toward SSTT as a martial arts or spirit fighting, rather my concern was for those seeking help already in a vulnerable state... there are enough pi$$ed off girlfriends, wives, etc. that do resort to this type of 'black magic'. Unless someone understands the mechanics of how this 'Black Magic' works as a Daoist priest, Christian priest, Qi Qong doctor, SSTT monk, etc. none of this sounds real to the civilized world. I already knew by posting the SSTT sleep paralysis that SSTT was already being setup to take negative criticism and cynicism. I was never trying to go for the *shock effect*, if anything SSTT videos are very ordinary and to some extent boring-IMHO compare to the UFC, MMA type YouTubes. SSTT was not trying to reach out to the MMA type schools. FYI: If you notice nothing in this post by Spirit Ape, Vortex or myself has anything to do with tournament fighting, MMA, UFC, etc. It doesn't sell to *AVERAGE JOE PUBLIC* Our original intention with SSTT was to reach out to those who could SEE BEYOND THE HYPE of getting more medals and trophies. In the next 40yrs all the SSTT sifus will have passed on and at this time no arrangements have been made to add any new SSTT sifus to our existing ranks. In this way SSTT has no illusions of changing the world, we are presently in a state of 'arrested decay'. In trying to be more comprephensive, we probably do have more possessions and hauntings then we want to admit. I had no idea that 'Sleep Paralysis' was so common until I saw it on YouTube. I thought these were very isolated cases. If you noticed you said, "But there are some feng shui and energetic guidelines to follow to prevent these things. This lady had apparently broken several of them and so put herself at risk for attack." The AVERAGE person in the civilized world has no idea what is right and wrong feng shui So keeping this in mind see the "genius" in what is being done. If you noticed my credits that I have worked with the Navajo police as well as LAPD. LAPD will think 'Black Magic' is crazy and dismiss the case. Navajo police sees this as the ultimate crime! knows that it happens, people are getting killed; however, there is no law in the U.S. that will convict anyone of "Black Magic". So someone like my friend or Ape's kung fu friend can easily have angry wives and girlfriends committing the *ULTIMATE CRIME*. No U.S. or Autralian court of law will persecute anyone for black magic or witchcraft so these women will have executed the *ULTIMATE CRIME*. Because none of this can be proven in a court of law, these men could have died without ever knowing what happened.. the *PERFECT MURDER*. The Navajo Nation police is just as advanced in technology as LAPD and they have to past the POST(peace officer standards and training). I only took the California POST for LAPD. At the time I was with Navajo Nation Police(NDLE), Navajo Police had to past 3-4 POST test as Navajo Nation rest on 4 states. Colorado is very small; however, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah are major land areas for Navajo Nation. NDLE police has more ground to cover, have to more test to pass then LAPD so in many ways I found Navajo Police smarter and more intelligent then the average LA police. Navajo Nation police acknowledges that these 'curse/black magic' exist, but can't arrest nor convict anyone to make a case to any courts in the U.S. The only difference between LAPD and NDLE is the ability to recognize and acknowledge that these incidence do happen so they can try and negotiate peace before someone is hurt. LAPD will ignore any of this exist. It is only the ability to recognize and acknowlege what most people ignore in the civilized world is what sets this topic apart from daily city life in the U.S., Australia or anywhere else where people are living. People who have the awareness level and courage to admit and seek help that they are dealing with the paranormal! Hi Ape, I feel the same way as yourself about abusing my abilities. For those of us truly using internal metaphysical energy we can't play or use this because it is *FUN*! That is what some of the other physical martial artist don't understand while (Ape & his students understand, SSTT Instructors & students understand) So what ends up happening is that physical martial artists harass us and call us fakes until they come to our classes. Ape is in Australia while I'm on the opposite side of the world in California, but it doesn't make any difference whether you visit Ape or myself because when these techniques are used indiscriminately you don't have to believe.. You will get *HURT*. portcraig and growant both came to visit and are SSTT members through this Taobums forum. growant kept asking to get hit with 'internal metaphysical energy'; however, he was never hit with much strength. During the next 2 weeks his arms became paralyzed with pain while barely able to sleep. I went to Chinatown after 2 weeks to get the herbs to heal him and within a week the pain was gone. For this reason I have stopped demonstrating on visitors and new students. So let's leave SSTT out as to why I stop demonstrating on people in California. Let's say you visit Ape in Australia and you keep pushing him to demonstrate on you the real "Martial Arts" power of the Burning Palm System . You'll get burn marks on arms, then your arms will start to paralyze. (you don't want to be hit on the body) It will be painful to impossible to raise your arms if Ape really decides to let the Burning Palm to sink in.. the pain persist and may last for weeks. My same experience as growant went through a painful experience for 2 weeks taking other metaphysical hits, it's not very kind especially if you are trying to retain students. The healing effects are great! When 2 Kunlun certified instructors had visited us, SSTT had already changed policy in where only our healing energy is shown. As a result, we are in the process of planning a joint Kunlun-SSTT seminar the 2nd week of July in San Francisco. In other words when you visit Ape, be nice! as you've already read all the SSTT warnings labels, which offended one person; however, rules probably apply when you visit Ape in Australia -Be Respectful! I already know what the metaphysical Burning Palm feels like so I don't need to get hit with the Burning Palm in Australia, Los Angeles or anywhere else where someone knows what they are doing... already been there, done that. Do you really want to know the answer to that question? I'll give you a 'real life' example of what happens if someone tries to teach SSTT without permission. I had an SSTT student, who was unauthorized to teach the raw form of SSTT. He put it own his website to get students while teaching without first getting permission, trying to get permission after he had a group of students... By then it was too late, my sifu found out about this student trying to teach without prior permission to teach. My student was NOT authorized to teach SSTT and tried mixing it with other styles. My sifu came out to visit one of the classes then started to beat this student(instructor) without stopping for EVERYONE to see --in front of all the other students for teaching without permission and authorization. When this student's "friend" stood up, my sifu saw this as an insult and asked this other person if he wanted a part of the action. Even though my sifu is 6'2" and weigh about 140lbs, this other "friend" of the student towered over my sifu. Even with all this "friend's" martial arts abilities, this "friend" just left the dojo ASAP. "Easy Lesson" --If the sifu doesn't want you to teach the art, you don't teach the art without permission! Even today this student is so afraid and intimidated by my sifu, this student will run before allowing himself to be in the same room. Part of our present agreement is that this student *NEVER* wants to be in the same room or vicinity and ended up leaving the state.. I know it sounds crazy? but this is what happens when a person is unauthorized to teach a certain style and technique. This is "Old School" martial arts! You take a few years of practice then try and start up your own SSTT school professing to be an *EXPERT*, my sifu will hunt you down if you are not authorized to teach the style! No MMA/UFC/BJJ/boxing champions can/will stop my sifu because he will terrorize and beat anyone and everyone with no mercy, no rules, no gloves or pads if they are unauthorized to teach *HIS* style. So he take this very personally! My sifu then made the other students stay up until 3a-4a in the morning shouting and yelling at them in a local restaurant regarding respect and courtesy pertaining to "Traditional Martial Arts". This story is known in SSTT as some of the existing students and instructors were present when this happened. To make a long story short, I can teach SSTT as a 'Sifu'; however, none of the other SSTT Instructors are allowed nor authorized to teach SSTT independently without my permission because they will be hunted down, found and beaten. I know it sound idiotic in the 21st Century, but these old masters are still alive and they are very strict about how, who, what, where, when *THEIR* art is transmitted. So *IF* Spirit Ape says, "Never before taught, seen, allowed before, etc, etc." --There is a reason I can personally vouch for that exist with SSTT; however, I'm sure many on TaoBums cannot relate to this mentality. There may be some unethical people will say *ANYTHING* to get quick money, but the SSTT Instructors are already very aware what happens when someone teaches SSTT without being specifically authorized -some of SSTT instructors and students have seen this before and it will happen again if anyone goes "rogue" at SSTT. One of the main reasons I'm backing Spirit Ape is because I know what I have been through to teach SSTT. Spirit Ape has been humble in how he presents his teachings, he may question someone if they seem to be completely fraudulent. He is prepared to take some of the insults for what he has been given permission to teach. I have personally had to endure a lot of personal insults, ridicules, threats, fights where even my students stayed locked in the safety of the car when I went to face off with 5 other men alone who were threatening my students. I had even told my students to get out of the car as the fight would only be a few seconds, but my students were so afraid that they didn't come out until the fight was over(in a few seconds). Then they started shaking hands with the 5 other men when the fight was over. How is that for loyalty? So it's difficult to even find loyal, trustworthy students just as it is difficult to find a loyal, trustworth instructor. The reason why I am making this very public because there will be some of you living in the U.S. who are potential SSTT students, you will meet some of the students who stayed locked up in the safety of a car rather then see or back their sifu when he was outnumbered. You will eventually meet my sifu who chases down rogue students and went ballistic on some of the present SSTT students and instructors who hid in the safety of a locked car. You'll understand the true meaning of 'Traditional Respect' because when someone is truly sincere, he/she will not teach an art/style/technique until given permission no matter how much or how little the knowledge. It is a matter of honor and integrity that TRADITIONAL martial instructors and students of any style, not only SSTT -Don't share the art until given permission. SSTT welcomes anyone to join respectfully because.. Yes, everything above can be verified. Please do not punish or mock the SSTT students or instructors when you see them in person because what is written is not an SSTT secret rather our 'Code of Conduct' is that we don't insult or humiliate our fellow SSTT members or other martial artists of different styles. We learn from our mistakes, so what I mentioned above is a learning tool for SSTT students and future students who will never forget these unfortunate circumstances. If Spirit Ape has conditions and a Code of Conduct, context on how, when, where, what he is allowed to teach, he can share those conditions. -That's up to him. I'm backing Spirit Ape's and any other Sifu/Sensei/Instructor of any martial arts styles who has had to get permission to teach their art because I went through a process of getting special permission to teach and it is rude to mock someone when the price of learning with permission to teach a particular art(myself,SSTT) is more painful than any insults, threats or fights; I have experienced in person or in discussion. You are more than welcome to see how different 'Old School' tradition is compared to the average "franchised" martial arts so common today. The main difference is that the Internet makes it very easy to communicate with the world, so ridiculing is easy, misunderstanding is easy. Learning, practicing, transmitting and teaching the true art from the TRADITIONAL masters is still difficult. At this time ICs(instructor candidates) are chosen and may 'DOR/drop on request' to still study SSTT in a user-friendly mode without ever feeling compelled to be an instructor. We will make SSTT easy and accessible so anyone can learn SSTT in a very user-friendly environment. At SSTT no one is forced to be an instructor, our instructor candidates are chosen and can DOR at any time. It's not always pleasant being an SSTT-IC. Even if someone becomes an SSTT Instructor, they cannot teach independantly without permission. It's not fun being an IC, Instructor or Sifu, the pay is terrible so if someone get excited about teaching SSTT it's not for the money. There are some SSTT Instructor(s) who have admitted that being an active SSTT Instructor or Instructor Candidate is just too difficult. They will only teach and promote SSTT when we become profitable and being an SSTT-rogue(unauthorized) instructor isn't worth facing my sifu. There are many more modern day Anneliese Michel in the link that I posted to Spirt Ape's topic of possession. As was posted that I always work together with a medical professional to make sure a person does not have pre-existing medical conditions. Once it is established that pre-existing medical conditions do not apply. Someone who is possessed, then can begin the actual process of 'Spirit Fighting'. Those who are already in this class don't have to worry about this, once they are proficient. Spirit Fighting is not for everyone as it is not recognized by modern medical science. Anneliese Michel went through the proper channels and did seek medical professional help by the age of 16 as she became progressively worse and lived a very tortured life until she died at the age of age 23. Max's burning palm would be similar if not identical in many respects to what we do at SSTT. It's just built into the "Art" causing the imprint of the burning palm and individual fingers to appear. I can verify what you do is NOT bullshit, because if I can do it and so can some of my other students; then I have no doubt that you can also do the "Burning Palm"!. You are very much aware of the metaphysical, finding these controversial subjects. As for myself, I am very much aware that the topics that you are talking about are very real. It is more prevalent in 3rd world countries and in the United States where Native Americans(Indians) experience this phenomena in everyday life. Navajo Nation is considered a sovereign nation within the U.S. and often thought of as a 3rd world country. I have seen these possessions and they are very common. Often the possessed Native Americans are diagnosed by IHS(Indian Health Service) medical doctors with depression or psychosis and given medications for the symptoms. Those who are really possessed do not respond to the medical prescriptions. The sad aspect of all this is they take it one step further and will attempt suicide. One girl had multiple razor slash marks on both her wrist as she tried to commit suicide many times. The medical doctors and their prescriptions had no effect on this girl. 'Spirit Fighting' may seem controversial as members of SSTT have posted to this forum. What you will see in Navajo Nation if you know where to go is very much real. It's not staged and everything can be confirmed with IHS. This is not something that is pleasant to see nor is it fun seeing these people suffer. I have spent many years visiting Navajo Nation and restored people who were possessed. SSTT is planning a trip to visit Navajo Nation. You won't find these places places by visiting the Trading Post and tourist attractions on Navajo Nation. When you go to the remote locations on the rez, anyone who wants to join SSTT can see this and come to their own conclusions. You are more than welcome to talk to IHS even though they are not at liberty to show medical personal records. The Native Americans that know me have no problems showing me their medical records from IHS which I can confirm with IHS. What Spirit Ape is showing does happen. None of us were actually there when YouTube was being videoed so there will always be doubts, even if it is *REAL*. If you witness this first hand on the rez with the medical doctors helpless to treat these victims; however, when 'Spirit Fighting' is administered and the person regains their lives, no longer tries to commit suicide, no longer taking medication, medical doctors reverse their original diagnosis, person now functions in society --No one is force to belief; however, it does add validity that the videos above allude to unexplained mysteries. There is a certain level I want our SSTT students and instructors to attain before they visit Navajo Nation where these occurrences happen for their own safety. To maintain the dignity and respect of the Navajo people, I am willing to take a small group of trained people. The people that I bring to these areas is not for sight seeing and so I expect the SSTT members to be qualified to help the Native Americans going through the traumatic experiences as they will be observing these occurrences in person. A good point was made, because martial arts has changed so much from it's orginal purpose and intent. Presently the major changes are that some people when they go to a martial arts school want to feel as if they are invited to a "home" as previously mentioned. They don't want rules because they don't need rules and regulations because for the most part everything is very sedate. Whether you are a minor or an adult, you will feel like you're at "home". SSTT does have a program to fit these needs. Some people don't want the pressure and coming to SSTT classes is a means to relax after a difficult work week. This is the SSTT students class. You are not required to memorize sets/katas, drills, etc. If you fall under this category, we will make sure you are in a safe environment and in many ways pampered. It will feel more like a Tai Chi/Yoga class, it is very peaceful. Again please visit us as we do have students who fall into this category. They are respected just as much as those going through a more disciplined way of training. I want to actually thank those for the comments who believe that a martial arts dojo should feel you are at another person's "home". Much of the classes will cover different forms of healing and meditation. A peaceful student paying who want to relax and practice SSTT, Praying Mantis, Kunlun, Shaolin Kung Fu should not have to be intimidated by rules that don't apply to them. The peaceful Kunlun instructors who visited SSTT have no idea SSTT rules even exist because it doesn't apply to them! SSTT has always welcomed the peaceful Kunlun students and instructors who have attended SSTT. The next level is the Instructor Candidates(IC) class. It's more rigid and more focused. Some aspects of class are where students and ICs can participate together as they are required to undergo a background check cleared by the Department of Justice(DOJ). There are no refunds for those who fail their background checks. If you believe that you cannot pass a background check issued by the Department of Justice, SSTT will not force you to undergo this training. This training is available for qualified SSTT students and ICs. You may ask questions about this program when you come to class; however, details of this class will not be discussed on TaoBums. Some of the training that SSTT students undergo require a higher level of integrity and a higher level of restraint so these rules are applicable. If a person is working at McDonalds or Burgur King, one will have to go through a written and training evaluation period. For a person who wants to work law enforcement they must go through written tests, medical testing, drug testing, PFT(physical fitness test), clear a Psychological test, clear a Polygraph test, clear a Psychological interview, undergo a very invasive background check, attend an academy where you will be harassed.. must pass academics, physical fitness, basic firearms, etc. etc. Gaining a military clearance one will also go through similar yet different challenges. Even if someone graduates from the academy or get their military clearance; a top qualified manager with McDonalds or Burger King could make more money, so it's not about the money. It's about the type of job a person is willing to commit. Instructors at SSTT are held to a higher standard and in this way the ICs are pushed to different limits than other martial arts schools. They don't mind a more discipline environment. This may be the reason why we have attracted law enforcement, ex-law enforcement, military, ex-military, military contractors and others to our Meetups for people who have this frame of mind. It's just a different way of training that requires discipline and self-restraint. We do cater to those who have no interest in martial arts and enjoy the healing meditation aspects of training. They don't want rules and regulations because they have no intention of causing trouble or disrupting class. They don't want to undergo a background check to have a file with the Department of Justice. We eagerly welcome these students and are given the same respect as our ICs. They do not undergo the challenges of the ICs so the strict rules and guidelines do not apply to them. We cater to both groups interested in SSTT. I agree with Scotty because real martial arts is dangerous and lethal. For those of you who train with firearms at any indoor firing range.. first thing you see is that the range master has a holstered loaded pistol. They ask for your for I.D. and hold it until you leave, they make you read rules, regulations and sign that you understand. One time I brought my own ammo and forgot it was "magnum high velocity" rounds. I fired 2 rounds that made eveyone else sound like they were shooting BB guns. I followed all safety protocols of firearms safety; however, the range master went on the PA system and ordered everyone to stop firing because 1 person was firing 'magnum high velocity'. Everyone was ordered to stop. It was my mistake as this was not listed on the 'rules of the range' so I was given a warning. Those who are unsafe with firearms on any firing range whether private, law enforcement, military are given strict rules and guideline. The range masters are not rude dictators, nor are they there to intimidate and humiliate others on the range. Their purpose is to insure the safety for everyone on the firing range. There are strict laws in the U.S. against murder and rape; so unless a person is a murderer or rapist, these laws are not something the average law abiding persons even thinks about. Similar with SSTT, the guidelines are very articulate for safety and liability. If you have the opportunity to visit our classes, you already know what to expect. No one is going to harass you, you will not be bullied, intimidated or challenged. In this day of technology where cameras are on cell phones and everybody has one, digital camera can record sound/videos and still pictures. The legal implications for any martial arts school including SSTT can be detrimental to heavy financial liabilities so we do not allow people to act recklessly from a financial and criminal standpoint. Because we have these strict guidelines, everyone knows what to expect. We have never had an incident in an SSTT class to where we have had to expel a student or instructor. Please Note: Because we have active public and private law enforcement personnel as students, this is a "double edged sword". We can arrest anyone who is out of line; however, if SSTT members are out of line then these trained law enforcement officers can easily arrest, detain and testify against students and/or instructors in SSTT. The Sheriffs(LASD) division is across the street from where we practice. Acting crazy or reckless in an SSTT class is just a bad idea that can ruin anyone's day. It is better that potential students adhere to SSTT guidelines if for anything, but common sense. Our class rates are less expensive then posting bail and no one has to spend time behind bars. SSTT instructors, students and visiting instructors already hold themselves to a high standard so we never think about the 'strict rules' because no one has violated the rules. SSTT will deal with the criminal element if and when the occasion arises, but it is not something we dwell on. Simply speaking SSTT instructors and students don't go out starting trouble intimidating others, we have enough confidence where other people don't intimate us.
