The government doesn't do as much as you wish against fake healers because they're busy troubling the real ones. Fake healers are just frauds and thus they and 'our rulers' are like-minded. They even serve well as propaganda against the real ones, and people with a bloated ego and trained in ignorance will gladly accept a debunked faker as proof of the non-existence of the original.

OK, so probably the healing thing is the sore point in the establishment, just like food and healing claims in advertising. "Spiritual counseling" sounds good as an official profession. Although when the results of it can clearly be classified as healing, there might still be a problem. Can 'spiritual counselors' maybe talk about past experiences of legal trouble in their profession? P.S.: And there are still people who think we live in a free world.

I've seen a longer stick in a video. It seemed to be curved according to the golden ratio. Carradine gifted it to an old master when visiting a temple or monastery. And it can also be used as a walking stick.

This is of course mainly addressed to those to whom the name is familiar. I myself found some bits of information, but not very much. Do you have any detailed info about how he got his healing abilities (e.g. did he cultivate it?) and what exactly they are? Anything from an alchemical perspective? BTW isn't it striking how relatively powerful people threatening the status quo / establishment are usually cancered or prisoned to death?

Very interesting. Thanks!

This is a brainteaser. I'm wondering what exactly is happening when I put a magnet near my CRT. I know all the basics (electron beam, dot mask), but what I'm trying to figure out is in the area of 'fringe science', with a special focus on magnetic lines of force and their interaction with other things. I clarified through research that the magentic north pole is said to emit the lines of force and the magnetic south pole receives them. My experiment doesn't seem to show that the magnet has a general effect on the way the CRT monitor works, because the effect is selective: The 'emitting' north pole produces a yellow-brownish area on the screen, while the 'receiving' south pole makes the area blue-greyish. So the question is whether the magnet has a wavelength-specific effect on electrons, or whether it influences the electrochemical process of the phosphor. Another thing I'm wondering is how it comes that - according to my research about the magnetic poles - orgone/chi seems to be pushed by a south pole, not a north pole. I derive this from claims about how an orgone zapper works. In it a magnet is supposed to push orgone into the body, and the south pole is pointing towards the body. Andy ideas?

Iranians on twitter (after the so called election)

"From the start of 2009 up to 12 June, Amnesty International recorded at least 196 executions in Iran, placing the country second in the world behind China for the number of executions carried out." Hm, then it must have been the number of executions relative to total population that's higher in the USA than in China. -
Thanks for reminding. I didn't think. Of course the Taiji is a symbol of duality or complementary opposites, while the Tao couldn't be farther from that. How could there be a symbol for the Tao? I should at least have written "Taoism symbol" to make it a bit less incorrect. @Nanashi Your second picture obviously follows the style of fractal images. Nice depiction of the micro- and macrocosm.

I don't have the means to do this, but wanted to mention an idea I just had. Mabe someone here has got various colors for that: Take a light bulb (more Watts = better, but emits more heat) and paint it according to the chakra or rainbow colors, starting from the lower end: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and leave the top unpainted. And then light a room with it. I don't know how much the colors will mix, but maybe it creates an amazing effect.

As I understand there are several musicians/audio technicians here. Could one of them do me a small favor and denoise a piece of music for me? My own abilities aren't sufficient here. There's not a single piece of silence with the noise from which a clean noise profile could be taken, and even if so, tries with CoolEdit always produce another kind of undesirable noise. One advantage though - if useful - is that the noise seems to be constant in type and amplitude throughout the whole piece (except the fadeout at the end). And I hope MP3 compression losses won't make it more difficult, because I don't have the music in lossless format.
-
Well... OK, although it's a commercial MP3, I'm sure nobody will complain when I post 15 seconds of it for a few days - in the spirit of 'journalistic illustration'. I cut a part that shows the noise, the overcompression and the overpeaked string instrument. demo cut (link offline)

Fancy. Does this program come in a leather case?
-
Let's say it this way: A really intelligent software would be one where you could make a separate audiostream that only contains the noise without any musical remnants.

Don't know your private e-mail address, but I have webspace. You got a private message.

Yeah, funny, isn't it. By the looks of it. ... And beneath it's all just triangles. The question is: Doesn't a flow need a static basis that causes the flow? A flow is motion. Doesn't the whole concept of motion vanish when there's nothing static? No opposite. How could there be coolness without warmth? ... Is it the Tao? But can the Tao be called static? Isn't it neither static nor in motion? Just been thinking.

Does somebody here know why the chinese soup spoons (like you see at restaurants) have this special shape? I tried using them in different ways, but I can't find an advantage over a normal spoon and find them hard to handle. Either it drips down my chin or I have to leave some of the soup in the spoon.
-
justice? probably not. "normal person" to pay 1.9M to greedy/silly/delusional "record company"

I thought you can only be fined for distributing the music, but only a download is mentioned there. Mafia tactics are typical for government and industry. I really wonder how a jury can act like this. There's definitely a lot more to the story. Please give us the CNN link. -
Meant to be funny, but actually very philosophical or taoist and a very good idea and execution of it: --> Shirt

The forum upload is the best. Then it can't occur that you have to wait for external servers to supply parts of the thread view, for it's all in the Tao Bums server's hands.

Just noticed something... You shouldn't use a direct picture link to another website for your avatar picture, for that creates a lot of traffic for them. Load it down and then up to the avatar picture pool of this forum. @Desert Eagle That's why I linked to the picture of the t-shirt: This way it will only cause them traffic the first time someone reads the thread.

I'm not sure whether this is a good sign or a bad sign. Probably both. ... Or neither. P.S.: Is that hop tea in your avatar picture?

There seem to be some astronomy fans here, so after unsuccessful WWW search I'd like to ask... Do you know links to videos of (total) solar eclipses that at least try show you how it is like to be there - by not zooming on the sun, but showing the surroundings, the ground, getting darker?

Now from the view that the photosphere is fueled by electromagnetic energy that causes the million degrees K, how can this not heat up the surface to more than 6000 K? Wouldn't there have to be a COOLING influence?
-
Hm, isn't it possible for scientists to imagine a condition that prevents nuclear fusion in the sun's body or has a cooling effect? I think my mistake was to assume a scenario like a burner where the flame is much hotter than the burner tip, but here of course the oxygen is the external input. I guess if you fueled a burner with a gas mixture including oxygen, it would explode? What about solid fuel boosters? They have oxygen in the fuel as far as I know. Now will the point where the fuel starts to sublimate and burn be as hot as the flame or cooler?
