  1. I don't think it is the mere connecting that equals the alleged soul-stealing. Maybe it's just the ancient way of complaining about a violation of privacy.
  2. This is highly philosophical, but maybe you can speak through experience or deep insight. Do you ever wonder whether a healer has to find a balance between healing people and let them find a way to heal themselves? I mean... this could be connected to the idea of karma, but not necessarily. Some people see illness as karmic, and one could derive from this that finding your own way towards healing is essential for your character/soul/spirit/whatever. On the other hand, healing people is a very emotionally positive thing for the healed and the healer. Furthermore, healing that is delivered by another person doesn't give powers to people so that you have to wonder whether it's wise to do that and need to evaluate the person's character. But it may (re-)enable powers of a person, so character might still be relevant.
  3. Many things do that; It's an natural process.
  4. Philosophical discussion. Considerung the background info I've learned lately, about the historical origins of the concepts of dragons, ghosts, wizards, comparing that to our current phantasy fiction that is commonly belived to be just that, I wonder - and this might be connected to the idea of having no choice in life, that all is just action and reaction - whether maybe everything that we put in the realm of phantasy, creativity and innovation is merely a recycling, a processing of past reality. Is there any idea we can have that can not - through diligent examination if necessary - be traced back to past real occurences, thus taking away the image of innovation?
  5. What is it that is veiled? I started a thread about this topic:http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=9733
  6. Self-healing vs. receiving healing

Mak_Tin_Si By "healing" I mean all kinds of health-beneficial treatment/aid, but I guess in the context of this thread it could also include general life help ... problem solving. Thank you all for your comments. I guess the short answer is - like in so many cases - to just follow the heart and instinct, right?
  7. Taoist classics (free download)

At least the PDF-FILES are read-only. (Text copy function diabled.)
  8. Self-healing vs. receiving healing

So would you say that as long as a healer is capable of adressing and fixing the root cause of an illness, it should be done, and self-healing attempts in these cases are purely optional for the 'tough guys' who want to speed up their evolution by overcoming struggle themselves? At least that's my feeling about it: The multiplying of happiness outweighs the lack of the abovementioned life experience. Or shorter: It's really soooo nice to be helped and there's nothing negative about it ... as long as it is not practiced to the extreme, but that does apply universally.
  9. XXXXXXX school of Daoism

Irony in itself: Judging by his reaction, after 49 years, 11 months and 29 days he didn't even come close to enlightenment. Thus, there was no reason to be upset... only about himself for being upset. So everything he was told was true. He just didn't translate the 50-years-then-enlightenment into "you might never be enlightened". POTENTIALLY he WAS extremely close to enlightenment.
  10. Arguements between couples

Could be merely heat energy draining. And on hot days you have too much of it. Really trivial.Do you mean physical practice or maditation? After my theory, maybe on shouldn't shower after practice not because it would cause harm, but because it does a kind of reset, diminishes potential benefits. Think about it: After practice you feel good and energetic, right? Not really something negative there that needs to be washed away. Then again, it could just be to avoid temperature shock. But that would not apply to a WARM shower after practice. Again... Water seems to be a very good conductor for life energy. In the Kunlun book it says you should avoid people touching you while practicing, because it could shock your system, and that you should not drink anything during it. I see parallels there.
  11. XXXXXXX school of Daoism

Nice euphemism for "he's evil". P.S.: Don't take me too serious. I'm just imitating the vague slander and gossiping of the thread starter.
  12. XXXXXXX school of Daoism

Hiding in plain sight, eh? Got a weak basis there, you know. Living in a glass house throwing stones. Yama is the Lord of Death.
  13. Arguements between couples

I'm really interested in the explanation why a shower won't do the job. Water can carry energies/vibrations, kinda common knowledge among 'orgonauts'. The bucket of water might balance/reset your energies by taking up those that are so dominant that they are on the surface. Just a guess.
  14. mo pai n kunlun

    Pirate vs. Ninja?
  15. The whole thing with the drastic changes is so huge and confusing that I wish we could examine it like scientists, just with solid facts, you know ... leaving out all vagueness. I do a lot of research and wish I had much more time ( or were able to read faster ), but I haven't found the time yet to research the information that can be describes by terms like "Planet X", "2012" and "reptilians". I think I'm an info junkie. A webhamster. What I occasionally think is that if earth is about to be flushed down the toilet or something like that, this might be supported by people who believe in it. Power of belief ... shaping our future reality. Maybe it's simply an option, and we determine if we want to summon it. Hard to explain is so few words. I think it's safe to go by the motto "Don't panic!".
  16. Found an old yoga documentary

Everything must die anyway. So why change?
  17. On being / having been enlightened

This might be a superficial comment, but he should be able to distinguish the two states by the degree of awareness .. how 'real' it feels. And even if both had the same feel, I'd go for the state that lasts longer. If this tale isn't meant completely metaphorically only, then there should be a perceivable difference between the two states. If you're not sure what is dream and what waking ... go by the guideline that the more crazy/exciting/weird one is the dream. If you really can't tell both states apart ... maybe both is a dream. Or maybe both is 'real'!
  18. Eckhart Tolle

I think someone who's enlightened doesn't care about saying or not saying that about himself. Your view on this might be a constricting pattern. I personally tend to examine every case individually. Considering how it's often said that you get more and more insight with every time you read it, I'd say it's pretty obvious that he wrote it to (or if he didn't intend, at least it serves the purpose of) help people walk the path towards enlightenment.
  19. Messge to August Leo

@AugustLeo Would you mind explaining this step you take? Or is it not that interesting to the public?
  20. Most outrageous interview ever?

"Bild" is a hardcore-boulevard (borderline criminal - sometimes without borderline) 'news'paper from the same corporation, and Spiegel sometimes refers to their stories. And even the evening news of public TV sometimes do! The depth of this mess, this travesty, this quagmire is unbelievable! People must be full of fluoride and brain control that they don't act accordingly. Those strange-looking, groaning people in Dawn of the Dead are more alive and intelligent than the public.
  21. In the book it says that the visualization helps to avoid energy blockages. Well, shouldn't Kunlun itself solve them? Because my practice was pretty calm and ended early lately (it more or less ends itself), I began to abandon the visualizazion, supposing that it might be to clear the mind from the daily sorrows or something like that, and I usually don't have a stressful day at all. The mediation seemed a bit more 'tingly' and eventful since dropping the vis., so what's the purpose of it?
  22. Arguements between couples

This is odd. I don't watch this show; never have. Only one single time did I unintendedly watch one or two minutes of it, and it was exactly about that!
  23. Spontaneous Qigong; A Report.

After doing some more reading, three things: 1) The report is written in a style that shows an agenda. As one example, describing the transmission with "worms" and "putting things in people" gives it an artificial creepiness. 2) The author says he doesn't want responses until he has finished his report, but it's been a month now in "to be continued" state. Maybe he doesn't want dialogue at all in the forum there. 3) No matter how revered, how skilled, old or whatever a master is, they often seem to be not immune to ... how can I say it ... those games, those little character streaks that you'd think they are above, being relatively close to enlightenment. But maybe that's the problem... enlightenment doesn't come automatically when you're a Taoist grandmaster. Has Max ever indulged in those games? Has he judged upon other teachers' practices like I so often read about many different people judging about Max? The picture that I have about Max is that he's far from perfect, just wanting to help and his is the efficient, quick way. No way is perfect. Every practice has its place in this world. If there are things about Max or Kunlun that we feel need to be criticised, we should not cease to be compassionate. Maybe all the drama is caused by Max being such a wonderful person that the difference to the environment causes a thunderstorm. Abandon the concepts of good and bad, and you still have disagreement and difference. I get the impression that a great part of the negativity that people see here and there is just their own.
