Hit the right vibe apparently. All I notice is that it fits the character well, like the original voice. I was just reminded: When Marge Simpson got a new German voice actor, unlike the old one she did a great job in imitating the original English voice. ... German Simpsons fans were disgusted. Seriously, this is so tragic: Trying to imitate the original voice is almost never done, and then in a rare case where it happens, they choose the worst possible voice for that.

I think that never was a meaning in general use. The negative connotation is used when someone who acts on strong gender stereotypes thinks that something is uncool/unmanly.
