Can there be such a thing as a Nazi Dao?
Owledge replied to Mark Saltveit's topic in Daoist Discussion
You're operating purely on elitist/malthusian/social-darwinist belief systems now. Mistrust is very justified, as evidenced by past events (history of social developments initiated by powerful leadershop-type people and hierarchy). Humans are not tigers, not pack animals, not herd animals. Just like many other animals, we can more or less adapt to different social conditions (e.g. various population densities). Cultivating personal freedoms is the path to a higher evolved society. Those who dominate and control others will always be advocates for their lifestyle and views, but this brings about misery, because most of those who are so-called 'leaders' today have ruthlessly grabbed that power out of a feeling of inferiority and/or strong fears. Also, those who advocate that kind of society put forward the facts that they themselves created as support for their righteousness. Remember how 'the negro' was just a savage, more an animal than a human? Not capable of refined social etiquette or higher intellecual conduct? That mindset was disproven only when society began treating them as equals, et voila - there's no difference. You reap what you sow. Very high on the ladder of social evolution is anarchy, because that social system can only work with people of high wisdom and virtue. Beware of people claiming that we have to employ systems based on what is. Because we have to employ systems that reflect what we want to be in the future, in order to make it happen. Ironically, those who try to rule over others are the ones following the mainstream. They can't imagine a better world because fear destroys creativity - the ability to bring something new into the world. -
Season 2 episode 19 - Putting Your Hoof Down Now why did that minotaur remind me of Gary Clyman?!

2013 - year of the water snake. What's its name in Chinese? The words in latin script please, in the various systems. Thanks!

Can there be such a thing as a Nazi Dao?

The debate is usually about touching personal freedoms, and to some degrees about social implications - like optional things becoming mandatory (foot-in-the-door), or certain mindsets ensuing from certain ways of doing things. There is a lot of mistrust in proponents of those philosophies. -
Thanks! I just realized that the names are mentioned in the online Ba Zi calculator I use. Ren seems to be yang water. What is k'an though? The Taoist technique of "Kan & Li" is supposed to mean water and fire.

If public U.S. schools have to engineer their own budget...
Owledge posted a topic in The Rabbit Hole
...then they should decide their own curriculum. Let's start by giving every student in each of those 'abandoned' schools reading homework: http://www.addictedtowar.com/bookpreview.html This should do the trick. I mean seriously, they have all the duties and none of the benefits of being government lackeys. They should act courageously and redefine their mission. First educate students about why their school sucks so much. It's nice that at least some schools are allowed to use this book (as the link states - only San Francisco). To what extent it is actually being used is unclear though. -
Wow, that's cockroach style. Maybe the pigeon saw that shaolin monk show where they lean on a spear with their throat and tried to imitate that. Or maybe a marketing agent with a fake piercing trying to spread the fear of those spikes.

Imagined dialogue after the defeat of Nightmare Moon: Pinkie Pie: Princess Luna accidentally went evil, so we blasted her with a rainbow until she snapped out of it. Twilight Sparkle: That wasn't "evil". She was just royally PMSing. That's cute, but the turtle made it complete as a true MLP fan item. @NAJA Dove and pigeon are interchangeable terms. But here's a funny thought: When a dove dies, it flips on its back. That means that ever dying dove is flipping us the bird. Haha. Hey, this reminds me that during "May The Best Pet Win!", Fluttershy said what Rainbow Dash referred to as a "turtle" is technically a tortoise. But she's not accurate there. "Turtle" is the name for a group of animals that includes tortoises and sea turtles.

Haven't seen Rainbow Dash in the hospital, Protector, but I saw what I thought was Dr. Whooves, but this time not at all cameo, but 'operating' an hourglass. I also wondered why (in S2 E15) when Dashie pulled the blanket off Fluttershy while she was in bed, she blushed in shame. As stated earlier by ponies themselves, they don't usually wear any clothes; it's completely normal. Seems like sometimes the show could use a little bit more continuity. It doesn't need much, but a little more would make sense. Those brothers with their cider-machine, first they were so clever and tricking the others into an unfair game, then when others offered to help the family, they said alright. ... Unlikely. Suddenly, quality doesn't matter anymore. The apple family supplying THEIR apples for a contest over supply amount. And the acres changing ownership over the contest? Ponyville owes its existence to the family's pioneer efforts. All very weird. How stupid are those ponies suddenly?! The whole problem could have been solved nicely with an inspiring speech. Or by these means: Twilight, being the brains of the Mane 6, asks Fluttershy to convince Pinkie to give one of the many jugs of cider she bought to Dashie, thereby pacifying the 'leader' of the whole commotion about the supply shortage. Pinkie did, but only after the whole competition idiocy. Apple Jack's letter to the princess was hilarious, though.

I just had the craziest idea! I don't know whether there's spraypaint that is harmless and doesn't impair feather aerodynamics, but hey... ...take a white dove, paint the body feathers light blue and give the wings a rainbow pattern. And then just let it fly, and wherever it goes, people will stand in awe and it would make their day a bit more interesting. Would be awesome to see someone who's good at photo editing make a prototype. Under different circumstances I would make that idea into an urban art project. Controversial to be sure, but seriously... grey grey grey all the time ... BOOOORING!

What's the worst and most horrifying thing you could say to Pinkie Pie? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The cake is a lie!

OK, first I watched some science videos on youtube (Vsauce). He talked about a space elevator - how once a building reaches a certain height, the centrifugal force of Earth's rotation will counteract the gravitational force. Now I thought: Hey, wouldn't that at some point significantly slow down Earth's rotation? You know how when you spin on an office chair and you stretch out your legs, your rotation slows down? Now the WTC towers were two big chunk of mass, and pretty high. Regardless of how insignificant the figured might be, but their collapse must have sped up Earth's rotation, no? P.S.: Here's another fun fact from Vsauce: If you imagine Earth were a perfect sphere and you tightly wrap a rope around it, and then you increase the length of the rope by just 6 meters, the rope would now fit loosely around the planet with one meter (!) distance from the ground.

Interesting and ironic detail about the contrails. Yes, clouds are a freakin' massive influence on temperature. Maybe they even counteract the supposed warming influence due to CO2. I mean, measures just like this, blocking sunlight by various means, were part of suggestions for counteracting supposed global warming. Looking further, nuclear power plants are said to be CO2 neutral, but they also emit huge amounts of cloud-density water vapor, so it would be an interesting (though surely extremely inaccurate) calculation to compare their cloud cooling effect with the heat emission of those very clouds. Bottom line is probably that it's not worth obsessing over details in chaotic systems. Too much doomsaying in past and present.

Haven't watched the next ep yet, but that would indeed be a funny thing for continuity buffs. Yeah, Rainbow Dash said they knew what they're getting themselves into, but I don't understand where that reaction came from.

In the episode "Family Appreciation Day" in the scene where Applebloom walks through town with granny, there is a cameo appearance of Dr. Whooves. In "The Last Roundup" I found it a bit odd that they left Pinkie and Rarity in the desert and took the train back to Ponyville without them. You know, with their tight friendship and all... really can't make sense of that.

Hearth's Warming Eve - awesome episode! Winter Solstice specials usually are. Seen a Doctor Who Christmas special from 2010 recently and that was very creative, too. EDIT: LOL - while searching for an alternative video from your last link, I found this jewel. It rocks! Also, nothing beats spontaneous unrestrained creative outpour... Awesome, 15 minutes of Pony beats 'n electronics!

Some youtube videos like that are not available in Germany due to copywrong issues. By the way, I'm really wondering, after having read about all the fan-made merchandise and stuff. Hasbro is so protective of the franchise, trying to make a big profit from it of course, but then due to bronydom there's huge demand for various merchandise and it seems they didn't provide. ... Or maybe they just needed time to catch up, but I find a situation like that peculiar.
