Thank you. You made me realize how poetic the language is.

@Harmonious Emptiness What does the zhī mean in tiān dì zhī jiān? @baiqi Why are the trigrams named differently? Aren't they referring to the same concepts? How can those letters be explained?

EDIT: works again. Maybe they simply had a server hardware failure. (or Mossad hacking attack, haha) http://www.campaigniran.org/ Just curious whether it's really offline or blocked in my country for some reason. Would be nice if someone from a non axis-of-west country could try it.

Archive.org has a version from the 25th, with current news. Strange for a website as big as that to suddenly be completely offline. http://web.archive.org/web/20110725134111/http://www.campaigniran.org/casmii/

Not sure about now, but they did land and seem to have had encounters. If the information I have is correct (like the moon resonating as if it's hollow), then all the time ETs might have been closer than we think. The film studio thing was a mock documentary where its makers claimed it was a kind of what-if experiment, or seeing how many people would believe it or something like that. There is also a FOX documentary trying to debunk the moon landings, and the reasoning is massively flawed all throughout. Still there are people who have little common sense and quickly believe that stuff.

It's done to kill germs, thus with a higher tendency in warm countries. Whether laziness regarding maintenance of the water pipe grid is involves, that's another question. But: If I'm not missing something, the only thing this would help with is drinking water from the tap. If you use it for cooking or making tea, the germs will be killed. And not to drink from the tap should be common knowledge in those countries. After all, if there's a big water-buying culture like in the USA, not a problem. And if someone does drink from the tap, if they have a healthy immune system, they can deal with it. (About countries where people say "Don't drink the tap water!", I assume the natives do it all the time and are relatively fine, because they adapted.) So who or what are they chlorinating for?
-
OK, valid points. I'm wondering about the effect of the chlorine on the human body when ingested. Is that commonly available knowledge? I only know that skin contact (swimming pool) can cause toxic chemicals in combination with certain substances that are always present in that kind of environment. Also, I was very surprised when in an US pizza restaurant I got tea served that was made with tap water. The chlorine odour was clearly noticeable.

Alcohol use widening the gap between openness and closedness?
Owledge posted a topic in General Discussion
I'll put this up as a thesis, because it's just a thought that came to me and I'd like to hear your thoughts about it. As is widely known, alcohol weakens the barrier between people, it removes inhibitions. People who enjoy their weekends with alcohol comsumption might become reliant on it as a crutch and social interaction in sober state might be more off-putting and difficult for them compared to abstinence. To me this appears to be just a classical 'reliance on drugs' scenario. I'm especially interested in your experiences of social circles in regards to this question. For example, do you find that ones that have a habit of using alcohol as a recreational drug are more difficult to interact openly with in their sober state? And just as a rhetorical question, since we know how politics/business works: Why is MDMA (ecstasy) illegal, but ethanol not? They both remove inhibitions to varying degrees and both are said to cause brain damage (which probably has the same level of truth in both cases). -
I did some pondering and examination recently and came up with a very concise depiction of the problem with the game's community, especially regarding randomly assembled dungeon groups. Please excuse the language, it's an intrinsic part of the joke. What did the WoW player say to the hooker? "Gogogo! Get to the orgasm already, you fucking noob!"

Interesting. The definition I know (which actually suits the term "lucid" very well) is that it's when the dream 'feels' just like reality. Which would mean that there is still a difference to waking reality: the fact that you act like automatic in a situation that doesn't have to be realistic, but you accept everything happening as real. Which is kind of the opposite of said absolute classic definition. Frustrating how society often turns things into their opposites. (which could be called perversion)

You lie to yourself a lot here, too. But no big deal. We're all lying to ourselves. It's called "mind".

@Immortal4life You disregarded the very statements you quoted. You, too, are mixing up beauty and physical attributes. You're trying to tell other people what they are supposed to find beautiful? A dumb supermodel might be much less attractive than a less physically attractive intelligent woman with character. And an emo might find a withered black rose more beautiful than a healthy red one. It's all in the mind, thus how the mind is made up determins everything.

http://www.extremetech.com/computing/132142-ciscos-cloud-vision-mandatory-monetized-and-killed-at-their-discretion They know what they're doing. Taking a step back and offering a firmware downgrade is just for the customers that won't be enslaved. At that point, Cisco has already coerced more weak-willed or desperate customers into their control structures. It's not necessary to catch the strong-willed. They will be crushed by more violent means once those are sufficiently backed by the weak-willed majority. The next person who tells me he doesn't care what information about him is read and by who, I'll ask whether he's a fan of the Nazis. If not, he should drop that madman mentality and educate himself about how tyranny comes to be. Also, a very good response to someome telling you: "If you don't have anything to hide, you don't have anything to worry about." is "Yeah, if you're not hiding a jew in your home, you can relax."

Not that profound, due to various reasons: Nr. 6, 7, 17, 21 I like the Brazil protests one. It shows that protests are often rooted in humanity and love, and not done for the sake of making noise.

Just as comparative examples, Kunlun Nei Gung level 1, and also Jenny Lamb's Yi Gong as far as I understand, - in simple words - draw the energies from heaven and earth (or above and below) and unite them in the heart in order to purify/upgrade them. Is there a similar technique that draws those heavenly and earthen energies and unites them in the sacral chakra, the lower dan tien?

Thank you. Especially those videos explained it well for me.

There are easier ways to get your hands on a shiny costume.

I've only read the video descriptions, but it sounds like 'You can always find something if you're looking for it'. All videos have the same theme (mind control, mass manipulation, subliminal messages etc.), and if you focus on it that much, you can find more than is there.

from www.chucknorrisfacts.com Enjoy! Chuck Norris doesn't flush the toilet, he scares the shit out of it. Chuck Norris once urinated in a semi truck's gas tank as a joke....that truck is now known as Optimus Prime. Chuck Norris and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants. Chuck Norris died 20 years ago, Death just hasn't built up the courage to tell him yet. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives. When CHUCK NORRIS went to Paris, the Eiffel Tower had its picture taken with him. Crop Circles have a meaning: They're signals to alien life forms that this is the planet Chuck Norris lives on. Chuck Norris doesn't wash dishes, they wet themselves out of fear. Chuck Norris is so sharp you can cut yourself just by looking at him. A single atom from Chuck Norris was used to create Jack Bauer. When Chuck Norris was born, his parents named him after himself. Never bring a hydrogen bomb to a Chuck Norris fight.

Isn't it ridiculous? McDonald's and Burger King must be working like tobacco companies who add all their secret ingredients. Both leave the hands with a distinct smell. It might be slightly different between both, but both are distinct and a real nuisance and when you smell it, you immediately know what it is. It's like their trademark fart in your face. Ridiculous that they offer paper napkins. They are very good at removing the visible remains, but the smell is like an acid imprint on your skin. Licking your fingers (=enzymes) and then using the napkin - still smells. Washing your hands - still smells. Washing your hands using soap - still smells. Steel soap - still smells. WHAT IS THAT STUFF?! I guess only hand wash paste does the job, which is sad, because that stuff is normally used by auto mechanics to remove black, oily engine dirt from your hands.

Recently I watched Men In Black 3D (Real3D) and I'm not that impressed. Sure, it's a nice feat of ingenuity to make it work with polarization filter glasses, but there are two things I would have expected to have been tweaked for 3D. Maybe it's just the cinema I went to, though. 1) The glasses' tint lowers the light intensity. The 3D projector didn't have upgraded light intensity to compensate. 2) The 3D effect seems to be generated in half movie frame rate. During certain scenes and movements, there was a judder/stutter, like halved frame rate for the depth effect. Also, since humans see the world in 3D anyway, the excitement faded quickly. I got used to it and barely noticed it's 3D. I find it nice, though, that it not only creats depth, but also occasionally makes things on the big screen move towards the viewer. I've heard there's also a version of the technology with shutter glasses, and that seems to be the one where people are complaining about headaches. What are your experiences with modern 3D cinema?

I think it was in the documentary "Outfoxed" where they stated the ridiculous truth/fact/lawyer view(?) that in order to shut down Bill O'Reilly's TV activities, the plaintiff would have to prove that he's doing what he does with clear intention, and not as a general outpour/expression of his personality, because in the latter case it would be much more difficult to hav success in court. Sounds crazy/sad, and maybe it's really just the opinion of the filmmakers' lawyer, but it could very well be true. But... In the movie "Iron Man 2", there is a piece of The O'Reilly Factor on a TV, staged according to the movie's plot, so it was specifically made by O'Reilly for the movie, and thus his ranting is totally deliberate, you could even say an act, because in the movie he badmouths the protagonist. That is evidence of him being guilty of public mass incitement and defamation.

Language often evolves through misapplication, and this usually leads to some kind of more or less severe misunderstandings / erroneous thought patterns. You know, internet trolls are people who love to provoke and incite arguments, dissonance and anger, just for the fun of it. The BBC (person unknown, since strangely not mentioned in the articles) does a hack job and in bitter irony potentially becomes guilty of massive incitement by equaling trolling with libel and cyberbullying. Here are the articles: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-14897948 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18408457 and here the problematic parts: "But exactly what constitutes trolling, who does it, and who does it affect? Trolling is described by Oxford Dictionaries Online as an "informal term". It means to send or submit a provocative email or posting with the intention of inciting an angry response." This definition is not very accurate, but correct. The BBC simply overread the second part of the sentence. "However, there is a darker side to trolling, in which people take advantage of anonymity to make hurtful and offensive remarks." Here, and without any references to back it up, the BBC just extends the Oxford definition. No, when trolling had this 'darker side', and it becomes legally relevant, then the term is libel. Libel is done with the intention to harm someone's reputation, and thus it is not trolling. ""People feel protected by anonymity and the true nature of people comes to the fore," said Mr Turkalp. It is at this point that trolling can also descend into cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is defined by Mr Turkalp as "a repetitious and malicious activity by one person or a group of people against another individual". Sean Duffy had never met the teenagers he posted messages about In the case of Miss MacBryde, her bereaved family and friends were targeted by Duffy's trolling. Duffy posted messages on a remembrance page set up by Miss MacBryde's friends." Very questionable how you can bully someone through written words that that person doesn't even have to read. This is still libel. This isn't even comparable to harassing someone with repeated indecent phone calls. Legitimizing the term "cyberbullying" also has the problematic implications that someone who is unable to walk away from texts or just delete postings on their Facebook page or generally manage this trivial situation is seen as a victim, not as seriously emotionally disturbed, totally offloading responsibility to the 'bully'. But this just as a side comment. It could deserve its own thread. "Until recent years, the term "trolls" referred to supernatural beings in Norse mythology" No, not until recent years. It still refers to those beings. It ADDITIONALLY refers to playful internet inciters now. This is appaling logical ineptitude. What could happen thanks to media like this is that the easy and quick labeling of someone who writes something not liked by others as a "troll" may team up with everything labeled "troll" spawning legal action, further fueling the innersocial war-mentality.

You seem to have trouble seeing the obvious here, so let me elaborate: The moment you become fully aware of how you behave, you cannot claim delusion. And if you take this awareness a step further and accurately emulate it, it's not emulation anymore, but the real thing. It also means that you're not taking your behavior serious, which would be a requirement for you being non-aware of your behavior. What that lawyer was talking about was along the lines of "He doesn't know that he's an ass." But aparently he does, because he has no problem playing that same ass in a movie. You might not have seen the movie, but there is no difference at all between that scene and the real thing. For example: A choleric cannot play a choleric. A choleric gets overwhelmed by fits of rage. Once he can play that same choleric ... as himself(!), he is aware and in control of those emotions and thus an actor. Another example: (Hopefully) nobody would claim that Lewis Black is actually an angry guy. If he angrily said something on state that amounts of defamation/libel, his lawyer couldn't claim that he didn't know what he was doing because he was angry.
-
Then you, too, are misapplying the term "troll". Writing something inciteful out of a mood is not trolling. Trolling is playful in nature, and can be cruelly playful. It is poking people, pushing their buttons, and then reveling in one's power to cause a mess. Trolling is also usually directed at a group of people, not a single person, since in the latter case, the potential for enjoyable trolling is very limited. A troll will always prefer a group over an individual. Self-limiting concept, and disproven by reality in a few massive cases, and apart from those, opinions can grow in supporter numbers and cause a change. Everything you do changes the world.
