Awake, I hear where you are coming from..i have been the same myself for as long as i can remember. The only thing i can really say is if someone is really a "Guru" or highly accomplished spiritually then they will see through what you have been describing into the core of your being, so i don't think you should worry about it. When this guy said you will meet again and to be without expectation, i take that to mean don't expect to have to find a way to meet him. If he is right and you have some karmic link, then karma will do the work...you just have to have faith let opportunities fall into place and grasp them when they arise. As far as being confused within yourself, have you tried mind-mapping your thoughts situation? Tony Buzzan has a great method for doing it..it uses your whole brain. http://www.michaelonmindmapping.com/blog/mind-maps/the-mind-map-book-by-tony-buzan/ All the best Ed

I'd say as far as combat skills are concerned, Yong Chun is more easy to apply and learn than aikido... As far as spiritual side of things go, depending on the school/teacher itself, some yong chun schools have solid chi gong practices within the system. I've heard aikido can be good also in that respect, but no experience to speak of myself. Check out my friend Mike's youtube channel and website out for more info .. he is based in wales though, but his site has good info on, and the video of him doing si lum tao shows what skill can be developed. http://www.youtube.com/user/yongchunwales http://web.me.com/kaniewski_wing_chun/Site_/Welcome.html Peace and hope this helps Ed

Tian Long Wei (Sky Dragon School), Is a Buddhist school influenced by daoist physical cultivation methods. Ever come across it at all?? Would be interested to hear something about it..... Thanks in advance! Ed

The answer lies in the India/Nepal/Tibet Himalaya Regions afterall.. and definitely NOT in china/taiwan..

Body of light, What is your honest motivation for practicing and wanting enlightenment??? do you feel a deep yearning inside you for the divine? are you wanting to be a great guru? Are you trying to fill a void inside you fuelled by lack of self-worth? be honest.. There are many paths, one size does not fit all. Are you wanting to benefit yourself, or all beings including yourself, or just benefit other beings? peace Ed -
Thanks for all the replies and advice!! Gerard, have you ever tried weightlifting and created blockages for yourself? or you just heard it? I would have thought Z-health or something similar would unblock these blockages. Cheers Ed
-
wait a sec... on repetition day, do you just pick one weight for the bench press out of the listed weights? if so, no problem, first one is only 42 kg's can lift that no problem! if not i guess just do pushups for max 3 sets Ed
-
Simple Jack, hey no worries, i have not made a commitment to a particular program yet. One question, what is the repetition day all about on westside? i cannot lift the weights he has listed so what should i do? any idea's? Cheers Ed
-
Simple jack, thanks mate! i'll look into the westside one.... 5x5 has no direct arm work in the program or calves for that matter either. Cheers ed
-
Onlyindreams, thanks for the advice.. i agree no good in replacing one out of balance situation with another.... keep the scales steady! 5x5 requires that 2.5kg be put on the bar each time you repeat the same workout.. so that is the progressive resistance part sorted.. Many thanks!!! Ed
-
Thanks SimpleJack, will check out the thread.... may well do the west side program in the future!!! Ed
-
Blasto and Onlyindreams, thanks so much for your from the heart advice! That is it then, i'll start lifting seriously. I had in mind to do the strong lifts 5x5 program for strength and then perhaps the scrawny to brawny program, i have the book already, thanks! I have been told before that you have to have a healthy ego before you can lose it.... makes a lot of sense. Cheers guys!!!! Ed

When i trained xingyi, metal was associated with pichaun which was associated with the lungs, which are associated with air. Ed

Two points in this song get me in a deeply blissful state, hope it does the same for you!! Music is a great spiritual medium...opens up the subconscious mind--- although it is worrying because of some of the "music" kids listen to these days, getting some real garbage influencing their minds.... Grime music in the UK is a good example. Peace Ed

Sorry if my posts are getting boring bums!!! here is another mantra by the same singer...very nice! Ed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9m571NYQJo If this doesn't belong here please move it. An old hiphop tune about death... has some nice lyrics! Bit of a sad tune though.... RIP Poetic!

Steve F, glad you liked it mate!! Adishakti, thanks i'll check it out! I've never done mantra in a group apart from once when i started laughing, not sure if it was the vibes or feeling awkward lol. Too much music isn't that good i think... you get used to picking up patterns and can make it hard in the everyday world, when others talk in groups.. at least to me anyway. We make memories of all feelings we experience, so if you have felt it before you should be able to re-experience it during meditation or anytime . Ed

Thanks AdiShakti!! was very pleasant to the ears... do you think listening to these mantra's through a speaker has the same effect as being in the presence of someone chanting them? Thanks Edward

http://skydragoninstitute.webs.com/books.htm Warrior guards the mountain is excellent book, with some valuable info on daoist cultivation as well as chinese and south east asian martial arts. The new book is out soon about a Daoist hermit and his student, who runs a group in the usa. Should be a great read when it is released this month!! http://skydragoninstitute.webs.com/instructionalfilms.htm These films have been around a while, excellent films on bagua and xingyi. Foundation exercises plus xingyi neigong for power in the five fists. peace Ed
