  1. No setup. Just trying to understand where you are coming from. In my experience the theory of chi matches my experience of chi. I have had energy transmitted to me. You can feel it hit you like waves of water. Not just feel it, but FEEL it powerfully. What do you think of the studies posted above on Yan Xin?
  2. Jakara, Before I respond, how does your idea of what chi is explain chi transmission? Like out of the hands, or fingers?
  3. Jakara, What about the 2000 year old theory of chi is not accurate in your assessment? I tried to express to you that from my experience I don't see any sign that the 2000 year old theory is false. In what specific points do you see a divergence from what is real and what is inaccurate. Also, what is your experience hands on with chi?
  4. There are people who have more physical evidence for qi than this. For example, I feel all day like I am getting my head massaged or shampooed. This is because my baihui is open. That isn't something that can be explained by the above sensations of feeling healthier and hotter. There are other sensations that also don't fit the standard model, like feeling flowing water through me along different channels. I can feel it, so it isn't just some "idea" like it seems you are suggesting. It may be that it is something we in the Western model don't understand yet, but its definitely beyond an idea.
  5. Cool article about Yan Xin. If we could get more good references to scientific studies on qigong then this could be a very cool reference thread.
  6. Ramon, I ordered all three books from the library. On another note, what do you think is the best way to lose weight based on your studies? What do you think of The Primal Blueprint? Is it worth reading, or is it just a rehashing of Mark's Daily Apple?
  7. How to commit suicide?

Are you trying turn this into a pun thread?
  8. I don't claim to know it all. If you could direct me to the sources of the science you're talking about, I'd love to read more about it. Books or scientific studies.
  9. From what I understand of Chinese research is that much if not all of it has been performed using junky protocols. If the experiment isn't setup properly it is as good as useless. In which peer-reviewed journals can I find these experiments?
  10. I don't really think whole grains, especially soaked ones cause insulin problems. For me, my blood sugar feels optimal eating soaked whole grains regularly. And many. many healthy traditional diets ate lots of properly prepared whole grains as well.
  11. Another potential problem in the "eat nutrient-dense foods" theory, is that one can tend to miss certain nutrients that science may not realize we need. We sometimes forget that we don't know everything yet. For example, I posted about how eating liver gave rats extreme ability to swim for long periods of time. But they don't know what exactly in liver does this, because just the minerals and vitamins don't account for it. There is something MORE. I still of course in general support the "more nutrients = better" theory Just playing devils advocate. Just remember to make sure your nutrients are bio-available. Soak those grains folks. Get your vitamin D, and vitamin A. Stay away from the pasteurized, homogenized milk that kills lab rats.
  12. I can't read that site. Someone needs to let him know about using headings, subheadings, and small paragraphs.
  13. There's another factor involved as well: the absorbability of those nutrients.
  14. How to commit suicide?

TaoMeow, That sounds like it might be a potential EFFECTIVE method for achieving what a potentially suicidal person is looking for! Shit, I have written a lot of poems in my day! Ruh-roh!
  15. Acceptance or Ignorance?

I believe pretty firmly that my and freeform's approaches are two sides of the same coin.
  16. Acceptance or Ignorance?

Freeform, I'm sure this works for you. My ideas work well for me, and I don't really relate to what you're saying. I suspect though that since my stuff works for me, we're probably not as far apart in approach as it sounds. It's probably semantics getting in the way or something. Peace.
  17. Only in the good old U.S of A

Haha. I agree; those burgers looked crappy. That restaurant is too much gimmick, not enough meat. (pun intended)
  18. How to commit suicide?

My two cents: The fact of the matter is that suicide is one of those topics that we can never come to a conclusion on. No one can say what is right or wrong, because right and wrong don't exist. They only exist in the whims of human beings' minds. So then perhaps lets look at suicide from a perspective I prefer, the perspective of effectiveness. Is suicide effective for your goals? Even this question is impossible to answer because we don't have enough details to fully know. We can assume a person wanting to commit suicide is attempting to escape the pain of being alive. Unfortunately we don't know if death will save them from pain. Some would say they would go to Hell, others would say that they cannot escape their karma and are bound to repeat it. Others would say, you're just DEAD, like dust, and it would then be a nice escape. Others would say there is no Hell and you will escape to peace in the spiritual realms. The fact is no one knows, so if you didn't notice that your ideas are based on opinion, hopefully you see now the fact is no one knows. If you ask a man not to kill themselves, do you KNOW you have a better way for them to escape their pain? Or are you just yapping? If you can help a man escape his pain, for certain, then do it. But somehow I don't think most of us can offer this fool-proof method to escape pain. I presume a lot of the comments on here stem mostly from "this guy said suicide is terrible". Well it IS terribly effective for stopping the slow aching of life. And if you cut out all of the beliefs you have that lord knows if they are even true, then its no big deal. However there may be other methods to escape the slow aching of life, I admit. Like wisdom. But some people are not in the position to get from suicidal to wisdom. It's a big leap. In my humble opinion, the worst part of being human are these layers of right and wrong that have no basis in reality. Humans are so willing to base their decisions on imaginary concepts, rather than effectiveness. What do I want? What is the most effective way to get it? What do I want? (freedom from this terrible pain) Is suicide the most effective way to get it? (I dunno)
  19. Woman and LAW OF ATTRACTION

Hey SZ, These two sentences indicate a lack of understanding of the Law of Attraction. So the rest of your concerns, being based on this faulty understanding, aren't necessary. Law of Attraction, assuming it exists, (which it does), means that like vibrations attract to one another. It means that which you are seeking is seeking you. That which you attract, attracted you.
  20. Acceptance or Ignorance?

Freeform, I don't see your method as being opposite to what I said. I just see it as mostly the same thing, but from a different angle. You are still using your mind to trick yourself into unwinding the beliefs behind the emotions. Emotions come from belief. Find out what you believe and the emotions always line up with it. At the core BEHIND the web of beliefs and emotions is your natural state of joy. Your method seems to me to be a way of shocking yourself into seeing the absurdity of the particular idiot-loop. I never said to not let your emotion play itself out. But emotions don't have to play themselves out for weeks/months. The habit of suppressing emotions is yet another thing I would ask myself "WHY?" about. And see the root is something ignorant. From my experience emotion comes from belief. This is why someone who has total faith in God will be at peace and not be ruffled by literally anything, because that belief in God wipes out all mere human-level of beliefs.
  21. iran

Our world sucks. It is ruled by ignorance. It can be maddening to watch the ignorance masquerading as intelligent international relations. Did you know that we are all one interdependent whole? Love is the intelligent choice. This constant state of conflict is indicative of just how far into ignorance the global population is. It's like your right arm fighting with your left arm; no one gets anywhere, and all you end up with is a gimp.
  22. Only in the good old U.S of A

Awesome that they use real lard, which contrary to popular belief is WAYYY healthier than the non-food shortening crap they have been using my whole life. Some of those waitresses look like they double as strippers.
  23. iran

Little1, Care to explain in more depth. Your post left me more confused than I was before I read it.
  24. Controlling sexual desire

I may be crazy, but I don't see the point of controlling sexual desire.
  25. Woman and LAW OF ATTRACTION

I'm very impressed with this Ross Jeffries cat, steam. Here's a great article by him about his disagreement with the Cocky Funny ideal that some other "dating guru's" suggest. http://unce.us/index.php?option=com_conten...71&Itemid=2 I think it is because it feels good. And with the invention of effective birth control there is little to no reason not to.
