  1. In my opinion, my opinion! this is flawed. It's like the old saying: "Don't just train harder, train smarter." If you train hard at something that isn't going to get you where you want to go, then you would have been much better off 20 years ago taking a step back and evaluating which path really IS going to take you where you want to go. Then every year check your progress: is it working? Am I really going where I wanted to go? Is this path really working?
  2. There are a lot of studies done on animals and bugs that show that calorie restriction increases longevity. So, I don't believe longevity is genetically programmed. Sure, maybe there is a genetically programmed RANGE for lifespan...
  3. Enlightened Singer

I remember when, I remember I remember when I lost my mind There was something so pleasant about that place Even your emotions have an echo in so much space And when you're out there without care Yeah, I was out of touch But it wasn't because I didn't know enough I just knew too much Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Possibly And I hope that you are Having the time of your life But think twice That's my only advice Come on now, who do you Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are? Ha ha ha, bless your soul You really think you're in control? Well, I think you're crazy I think you're crazy I think you're crazy Just like me My heroes had the heart To lose their lives out on a limb And all I remember Is thinking, I want to be like them Ever since I was little Ever since I was little It looked like fun And it's no coincidence I've come And I can die when I'm done But maybe I'm crazy Maybe you're crazy Maybe we're crazy Probably
  4. Fasting caused me more problems than it fixed (it didn't fix anything)
  5. Raw meat

No problem agharta I want to try raw liver. What is a good way to get good healthy liver?
  6. The way I see it, is if your philosophy doesn't encompass spirituality, then your philosophy is missing part of life. If your spirituality doesn't encompass philosophy then your spiritual people don't know how to communicate what they know in a way that makes sense. So complementary, indeed.
  7. Hi, Where did you get a wuxing analysis?
  8. any fasters here?

I don't think longterm fasting is healthy. Certainly not for everyone (aka me), that's for sure. Ask yourself this, could your "Addiction to food" be natures way of saying "FREAKIN EAT YOU #$%^" Sometimes I think people over-think all this healthy type stuff. And I'm speaking from my own experience with fasting, etc, so don't shoot me All the Best, 11:33
  9. If it isn't about your experience, then it isn't spirituality, it is religion! Philosophy at least the western variety in my opinion is all in the head, which to me just hasn't been valuable. Maybe it is for some others.
  10. google is your friend. You don't need to buy one, the Wilhelm translation is all over the internet free.
  11. Taoist Pick Up Lines

Me: "Hey baby, I'm not allowed to use any techniques to pick you up. (I'm Taoist, we don't do that) So Uhh, How's it goin? ... Great, so are you feeling yourself drawn to me like a bee to honey, as if some mysterious force has overcome you with my overwhelming sense of natural wu-wei presence?" She says: "actually, now that you mention it, YEAH" Me: "That's just how we roll baby"
  12. Philosophy is oigus because it's all based on a bunch of yapping. Spirituality either is real or not, but can be found out for yourself by EXPERIENCE, which is much different than yapping. You don't need logic to know what exists. You just look and experience it. You don't need logic when someone hands you an orange, you just eat it. When the logic starts coming in, then you know you're talking about stuff that doesn't matter.
  13. The Secret, is it BS? (Law Of Attraction)

Paul, I agree with the self-focusedness of it all. But I personally can't call it total bs. The metaphysical laws or whatever you call them are still useful to know that they exist. To know that mind affects reality is a huge thing. Unfortunately none of those new age systems is a complete or correct system, but I can't throw my personal experience down the drain. To me there is great value in knowing there is a Force that has things sorta under control and has my back
  14. I'm starting to question myself

Top the original poster. In my experience experimenting with the Law of Attraction, karma is very real. (Law of Attraction is quite similar in effect to karma; in my mind they're basically the same thing with some minor twists)
  15. What is a phenomenon?

Dang. Did you all settle on a definition for a phenomenon yet? I'm curious.
  16. The Secret, is it BS? (Law Of Attraction)

Which documentary? You mean the movie , The Secret?... The Secret the movie is imho not fully 100% accurate. Anyone who says you can be do or have anything, is full of shit imho. That said, like the Buddha himself said, life comes from what you think. There is a connection with the mind aspect of you, and the things that come into your life. There is even an equation Intent/Desire + Emotional Intensity or Energy = Manifestation However, all of these teachings I see operate in a ego-driven manner. Which we know is not the deepest truth. So the teachings don't always work... for many reasons I don't have enough time to theorize upon. There are limits. You are highly unlikely to grow a third arm. But some of these people will say you can. I have however seen some pretty WILD synchronicities that when I think about statistically they just couldn't have happened by chance. The most important thing to know about LoA is that it happens without you knowing it. It is like karma, always just happening no matter what. It is more like the law of matching, than law of attraction. It is like the law of God's grace. The highest vibration of Abundance is willingly giving giving and giving some more. That's how it must be! If you can give and give and give without end, then surely you must be overflowing! Peace.
  17. The Secret, is it BS? (Law Of Attraction)

No. (That's the short answer; from there I it could get a lot longer, like many pages longer )
  18. Raw meat

Hey agharta, What do you feel about fermented meats? I'd like to try that. Maybe some thinly sliced fermented beef pieces. Also, what do you think of Sally Fallon's work? And Weston A. Price?
  19. It's amazing how you can see right through that guy, just his voice let's you know he's salesman. (No insult meant to salesmen ) But he just doesn't even FEEL authentic. And all his stuff is designed to satisfy the ego, from what I remember when I saw his site months ago...
  20. Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and also the work of Weston A. Price is very good stuff in the non-vegetarian nutrition realm. BUT! Hospital food is horrible.
  21. I am wondering about what Taoists think about physical exercise. I know they have tons of qigong, and some of it is physical in nature, especially the martial qigong stances, etc. I also know that they don't think you should over-exert yourself as this will deplete the chi in your organs, which actually weakens your longevity. But I am pretty sure they think exercise is good up until you start sweating? Correct me if I'm wrong please. So what are some traditional kinds of Taoist exercise? Qigong walking? Qigong Hiking? Anything? I'm curious to know All the Best, Alex
  22. Who here practices alchemy?

Thank you Xenolith, I'll get back to you with more questions I'm sure when I get a moment to read through that thread. Peace. 11:33
  23. What Do Monks Eat Everyday?

    Goddamn! Soda is NASTY!
  24. Just for clarification, did you mean to ask him if he was bold, or bald?
