  1. Immortals (Xian Shi)

It is my understanding that yang energy is what animates our physical bodies, our lifeforce energy. It cannot leave the body without a conduit like a metal wire, or physical contact. A dense field of yin energy can serve as a conduit, or if yin and yang energy have been fused as one they can leave the body as well. In this video chang is creating a dense yin field which serves as a conduit for Jim's yang energy to leave his body.

Dorian, I like you and I don't want to be rude or disrespectful to you, but I've seen no good evidence of any tai chi master anywhere near John Chang's level of development. I've only heard rumors of rumors. To the best of my knowledge there are a small handful of people alive on earth close to or above his level of development. It is meditation that allowed them to collect and store this energy not active physical movements. If Tai Chi is your thing that's great. I am just not sold on it. Every video of a tai chi master looks like this to me, Until I see some scientists investigate one of them, I see no reason to revisit their practice.
  3. Immortals (Xian Shi)

We actually have two spirits, the yin spirit which is made of energy similar to gravity, and a yang spirit which is made of energy similar to sunlight. At death the yang spirit (our conscious mind) scatters back into the environment. Our yang spirit gives us willpower, emotion, desire, ego, self, passion, etc. What remains is the yin spirit (unconscious mind) which has no willpower to do anything,no concept of emotion, just a passive observing mind. If both spirits are developed to their maximum potential, and fused as one before death, then a physical spirit will remain. The yang energy when flowing through a dense field of yin can interact with the environment. The spirit can manifest as if it were a physical body if it chooses. To the best of my understanding it isn't possible to become pure yang, as yang energy scatters without a container. The yin spirit can contain the yang spirit to prevent this if both are fully developed and fused as one prior to death. When most people die they become a yin only spirit, so this fusion must occur before death. It is my understanding that this spirit is indeed still a biological entity.

If you want a qualified opinion on immortality, ask an immortal.

  6. Well for me the only aspect I care about here is discussion of neigong/qigong and related arts. Pretty much everything else is just philosophical discussion which isn't my thing so much. It also seems like neigong discussion annoys the philosophers as well as it isn't their thing. So usually it winds up creating friction between the groups.
  7. Wouldn't you rather arguments about a school of neigong be in a neigong subforum vs in the general or taoist discussion forums? This way the majority of people who don't care about the practice don't have to be bothered by it.
  8. I think it would be a nice place to sweep all the mo pai argument threads to.
  9. Mo Pai and Immortality

All you have to do is send me a pm, but I am not going to post screen caps of private emails in a public forum, that would be rude.
  10. is it only me or the TB has lost its magic?

I miss the electrochemical poop energy...
  11. Mo Pai and Immortality

If Chang himself the head of a "lei shan dao" school and prominent Taoist scholars have never heard of it, I think it's reasonable to assume the term is recently coined.
  12. World View - What is the Reality we live in?

This is the best answer I have for you. http://thetaobums.co...and-many-minds/
  13. We live inside our own minds as virtual beings, inside a virtual world. Our bodies and the world we observe occur inside our own minds as energy and information. A virtual body, inside a virtual world. What we perceive as a physical reality and a physical body in reality is an electrical lightning storm, the communication, sharing of information, conversations between our neurons. It has no physicality to it whatsoever, it is purely energy and information inside our neural nets. The reality we experience is not the same reality that exists external to our physical bodies, just as a watching a football game on tv is a representation of the actual football game in the stadium, or a painting of a pipe is a representation of an actual pipe. Each of our cells is an independent and intelligent organism, working together collectively as a society, towards the common goal of survival (extracting resources from the environment, and removing waste, avoiding potential dangers) Each member of this cellular society is interlinked and in constant communication with the whole, via an electrochemical Internet. The collective consciousness of this society, is what we perceive as self or ego or identity. As we become more interconnected, with fiber optics telecommunications and a global Internet we are giving rise to a collective intelligence just as real as our own.

I quoted their response above. They had never heard of lei shan dao or the lightning/thunder path. Nothing else was discussed.
  15. Mo Pai and Immortality

I just wanted to let you know I heard back from one prominent Taoist scholar, author of many books, and head of their department at a major university. I can't put their details out in public but screencaps of email will be made available to anyone who wants it via PM.

I guess depending on your goal drugs could be helpful, or harmful. If enlightenment in a non-dualistic sense is your goal, go for it. If enlightenment in an energetic sense is your goal, forget about it.
  17. Mo Pai obsession?

Very very silly. As a child grows up and becomes stronger and wiser he is able to do things as an adult that might look like magic to infants. The end goal is to grow up, to reach the pinnacle of spiritual evolution, not get your power level over 9000! so you can become a super saiyan 4 monkey beast and shoot fireballs. No they shouldn't be, spiritual evolution should be. Most people don't, and won't until they see for themselves via training. Best wishes to you as well.
  18. What do you guys do for your career?

I am mulling over studying for my CCNA/CCNP routing and switching, and CCNA/CCNP Security. Just by taking a short test and getting some basic work experience you can land a fairly good paying job.

  21. Mo Pai and Immortality

I won't argue about it further, people can read it for themselves and make up their own minds.

  23. Mo Pai and Immortality

True story. Early 2008, I paid a deposit for a seminar, I changed my mind shortly after I paid and was told no refunds. I asked if the money could instead be applied to pay for the fee required to join his forum. I sent many emails about this and was never given a response. There are other people who paid for the full thing and were never able to get their money back as you can read via some research on google. If you think I am full of it you can PM me and I'll send you screencaps of the emails from paypal and my correspondence.

Can you provide just one instance of the term "Lei Shan Dao" being used in a Taoist context prior to 2004 anywhere? I've looked I can find none, none of the encyclopedias of Taoism make any reference to such. I just sent an email out to two prominent Taoist scholars and Verdesi, I'll let you know when I hear something back. I remember there was something in one of his old forums I had read, but his forums are dead, and I stopped reading them then they wanted $200 for access to them. Also if you go to google and type in: You can read many horror stories of people being ripped off, not being able to get refunded for classes they were never able to attend, etc. I am not going to argue further about Verdesi, but I'll let you know what I find out regarding the "lei shan dao" from the scholars.
