I've been thinking I would like to write up some posts to help TTB members with computer issues, virus removal etc, and help them save money with software etc. Does this forum cover tech support for personal computer issues or just for the forum?

spiritual pursuit is escapism
Thunder_Gooch replied to eye_of_the_storm's topic in General Discussion
If you have a dream, something you truly wish to accomplish before you die, and you work towards that with all your heart and effort, is that escapism? Even if you fail, you lived a meaningful life. -

The kicker is modern life and it's distractions. Would you dedicate every waking moment to training for 20 years+ Not to knock J.C. but if he didn't have a business and family he could have easily been more advanced than his master even right now. The cost of this art is every waking second you can spare to it, those who give up more, gain more. I am working a lot to try and get a camper, and a well and septic tank on my property now. When I've done that, that's the end of the road for me. I will be living on a part time job, and shopping only at dollar stores, and thrift stores for my needs. I will be living with almost no money. I plan on staying this way till my death, focusing only on training. The only reason I can see myself working more than part time would be to save up for books/dvds/materials if some new teacher comes on the scene. Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too. The reason people aren't advancing isn't the fault of the system itself, its the distractions of modern life. -

spiritual pursuit is escapism
Thunder_Gooch replied to eye_of_the_storm's topic in General Discussion
The reality is we are all going to die. You can make peace with that, and live a good life. You can refuse to think about it, and go to church and pretend it won't happen, and live in denial till your death. You could also dedicate your life to trying to do something about it. No matter what it is you do, as long as you are happy and try to be a good person I don't think it really matters what you do, or don't do. -

The system is only closed to westerners. If you think it's bogus you can test out the meditation and verify it's legitimacy for yourself. Easy Peasy. -
Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.

Suffering alone exists, none who suffer; The deed there is, but no doer thereof; Nirvana is, but no one seeking it; The Path there is, but none who travel it." -Buddha quoted from the (Visuddhimagga) The Path of Purification sutra -

What I got out of talking with him is that enlightenment is a state of nonexistence, and unobserved experience. So as you existed prior to birth and after death was the natural state of this nonexistence. -

What is something that exists as anything other awareness of an experience? -

If I understood the person I spoke with correctly. There is the experience of you, but there is no being experiencing the experience, just the experience itself exists. There is no one thinking the thoughts, just the thoughts themselves. There is no one making a choice, just the experience of a choice being made. Etc. All that we perceive is an experience and with no being experiencing it. I think Buddha made what he was saying pretty clear: -
