Sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. "I want to be able to post in public, but I also want to remain absolute control of the discussion." Pick one, not both. If this ever does go into effect, I will be happy to create a mo pai thread and watch you guys scream bloody murder when you can't trash talk it in the thread.
-
I think a better statement would be, don't post anything in public you are not willing to defend to the end. _________________________ I look at lot's of discussions I don't participate in that turn into debates, essentially they are two sides each re-posting the same opinions over and over in circles. It seems a common theme for most debates.

They could create such a discussion in their personal practice forum, and delete any comments they didn't want in the discussion. Easy peasy. If people do not want what they put out in public challenged they can use their personal practice discussion forum. My only beef with this "solution" is that it addresses a problem which never existed in the first place.
-
What I don't understand is we already have directed discussions in personal practice forums, when you post in public you are inviting debate. I don't post anything in public I am not willing to defend to the end. That's how it is. In a personal practice forum you can delete troll posts as you see fit.

You can get a reply here: http://thetaobums.com/topic/33037-community-challenge/page-9 Hopefully all these mo pai troll threads can be combined into one big one in my ppf where you guys can rant and rave till it's all out of your system and you move on, that's the point of that thread in my ppf. -

BS. Being stripped to a shirt, checked for metal with a metal detector, and taken to a random location to reconfirm your abilities by the head of the mind science foundation, a medical doctor and a biophysicist? In my opinion that is very compelling. -

_________________________ Let's flip this around. Why do we call someone who is emotionally mature, compassionate, and at peace... "Spiritual", what does any of that have to do with the development of the spirit? Mo pai develops a spirit much like a weight lifter develops a strong body. What passes for spiritual these days has absolutely jack (insert expletive here)ing (insert expletive here) to do developing a spirit. The label says one thing and does another. The vast majority of spiritual teachings have nothing to do (AT ALL) with the development of the spirit. _________________________ _________________________ In mo pai it is a seated meditation. _________________________ This is something that has be repeated 924,208,173.5 times already. To break free of rebirth, to become a hsien. That IS THE POINT. -

Tiger I will be honest, I am growing very very very tired of playing these games with you. We both know what the point of the system is, to become a hsien. That is the whole point of it. -

Again this is more sour grapes nonsense. That has nothing to do with the point of the system at all. Abilities are generated as a result of the practice but they certainly ARE NOT the end goal. -
The solution is there is no solution. Tell people to use their PPF if they don't want to defend their posts, and want to maintain control over the discussion. It's really that easy, and at that point they are responsible for deleting troll posts. If something in public discussion becomes a problem, toss it into the pit, and if need be lock it if that doesn't fix it. Basically policies already in place just need to be enforced imho.
-
In PPF or public discussion?
-
Not so much, but I know exactly how it will play out. As long as the other team can use it to their advantage they will be for it, but as soon as they are forced to stop derailing topics they don't like... that's when it will hit the fan and they will scream bloody murder again about personal insults or whatever they can to try and prevent their opponents from having a different opinion than they do.
-
Will you let us know when the trial goes into effect so we can try it out?
-
So is this trial in effect now, for instance if I create a mo pai related thread and kindly ask another poster to stop arguing and derailing it, they get moved to their own thread?
-
The only major effect from this that I can see is forcing threads to become split and fragmented, with 10 threads about the same discussion, all referencing each other and disagreeing with the other ones because disagreement isn't allowed in any of them.
-
They get what they want by using their personal practice forum to maintain control over a discussion, that is precisely why personal practice forums exist. If this goes into effect all it will do is turn the public forums into glorified personal practice forums, where the original poster get's to direct the flow of the thread. How about: If a thread becomes an eyesore toss it into the pit, if it continues to degrade... lock it. Suggest the original poster use their personal practice forum to maintain control if that is what they want. I have a feeling this is going to stretch staff resources to the limit splitting threads nonstop. Maybe not though, if this goes into effect let me know I will test it out with a public pro mo pai anti everything else thread and see how many times you guys have to split the discussion up into separate discussions lol.

I'd go further and say there are 0 who have ever gotten results with this system, other than psychological disturbances. Psychological issues arising from practices like this is common, it's called kundalini/qigong psychosis. It happens. It doesn't mean those systems that achieve that lead anywhere other than a trip to the insane asylum. That's neat and all, but going nuts and getting neat feelings are not the same sort of thing I am interested in. To me that falls in the realm of make believe, roleplay and self deception. If that's what you guys are into more power to you. I'll take: "things that have never ever happened in the history of this system to anyone who attempted it for $500" Alex. -

Who knows, I haven't seen any hermeticists display any profound abilities recently, if they are able to develop any they keep it quite. -

No odds are you might very well die even under the supervision of a master like Chang. If you can not maintain absolute stillness during level 4 you will die. But you are going to die anyway, it doesn't really matter. You might as well spend your time here trying to address the core problem of death and rebirth, at least that has some meaning and purpose to it. Nothing else you can do in this life does. It's all just a game of make believe, distraction, entertainment and self deception to keep your mind from thinking about where this is all headed, you being ripped apart and swallowed alive by the black hole of death. -

The whole mo pai system if you had accurate teachings could be accomplished alone. -

You don't need personal guidance, you need accurate and complete teachings, you also need mental focus, determination (anti-ADHD) and an IQ above 50. Mo pai level one isn't rocket surgery. -

I actually created a thread just for this purpose if you want to continue to argue. http://thetaobums.com/topic/33037-community-challenge/ I think it would be healthy to purge this out of your system.
