Right now we are are in our yang minds, yang spirits and our yang body. If you go deep enough into meditation you can't hear, or see, or experience the world outside of you, and your body feels numb. To be honest during the void stage it may be 1/2 yin and 1/2 yang mind, I don't really know to be honest. If you keep going into that void, you'll realize you are seeing again even though you are fairly certain your eyes were closed. You can see with amazing clarity almost surreal like some 3D hologram with extra vibrant colors, more clearly than real life. When you can see again you'll know you are awake in your yin body. Note that memories of what happens in the yin mind/body are hard to bring back to the yang mind/body, I only did because I wrote it down immediately upon coming back out of trance, otherwise it would have been lost and forgotten, but in reinforcing the memory that makes it stick sometimes. I think before you get to this point though you'll want to do meditation for many hours to harvest and collect yang qi in the lower dan tein, as is taught in ALL systems. You need to fill your batteries first.

You have to be in your yin body, and stored up a bunch of yang already for this to work. When I say you see with your eyes closed I don't mean to visualize. I mean that you meditate till you start seeing again even though you're eyes are closed. Seeing with absolute clarity just like you do in real life, but some how clearer. At that point you know you are in your yin body, not your yang body.

You mean you haven't gotten to see the juice in person? There is plenty of hard evidence, they've documented impossible electromagnetic anomalies just from low level qigong practitioners. As well as monks who can raise the temps of their fingers 17* under scientific observation, and slow their oxygen metabolism 64%, not to mention tummo masters like wim hof who can be packed in ice for hours, or control his immune system at will to fight infection or suppress immune response, or John Chang. If you want to see the juice in person you only need yourself to prove it is legit. Work with meditation for a while, put some jarred candles out, see if you can't get so deep you can see even though your eyelids are closed, then try to influence what you see even though your eyelids are closed. If you manage to extinguish one, wake yourself back out of trance slowly and see if it is reflected in reality. Something even easier than that is to meditate till you can see with eyes closed, and try to wake up someone or an animal who is asleep. It should be an instant stimulus--->response. Do that about 20 times and see if you don't have a shift in perspective. Alternatively if you have lots of money to blow you can get an REG, which is like a virtual coin flipping device which looks for statistical anomalies in the data, things that shouldn't be possible. If you try to influence one in a deep trance state you'll get some amazing results. http://www.psyleron.com/reg1.aspx You are the only qigong master you need to prove it to yourself. Just my $0.02.

It is if you have chi to work with first, if you don't you might as well be standing on your head.
-
The emptiness that is being discussed is a deep trance state, you loose the ability to hear outside noises, to see outside things as your eyes are closed (you may see with eyelids shut though), and to feel your (yang) body, and you may grow cold, breathing slows down to a crawl naturally, and the heart beat is almost undetectable. This doesn't mean you cannot think at all, only that your thought process is slower, like being sedated heavily, you can force yourself to think but it's easier not to. In this state it is the ONLY state that you can work with chi easily and feel it move inside your body. I see where you think this is contradictory, but you are in your other body, your yin body, not your yang body. You won't feel things on the outside world poking you, but you will feel internal movements of qi inside your yin body. I've been there and that is my experience. It is almost as if you are dreaming but not quite, just almost.

Sorry if I came off as abrasive. I also feel your pain on no real techniques being available. Here's what I think. If this knowledge were common place it would be infinitely worse than nuclear weapons. If governments knew what a level 72 mo pai master was capable of they would have an arms race to breed as many as is possible and brainwash them from birth into absolute slavery. It would probably destroy humanity to be honest. That is the real reason or at least the real justification for the reason the higher levels are not public knowledge. I believe the universe will help us go further once we prove ourselves to it, sounds corny but I think it's true. There is a lot out in the public eye now, you can get information to last you easily a decade worth of daily training. I think once you've finished that, you'll have moved up on the ladder a few rungs, and the universe will contact you with further instruction Most of us are unwilling to give up all we own to make it happen, so we'll never get to see that reality manifest itself. We are more interested in finding a wife and starting a family and working a good paying 9-5 and watching movies with friends and all that stuff we do. Getting to that level will mean 10 hours a day every single day, it's hard to find a way to make such a thing possible. Just do the best you can with what you have, ask the universe honestly for help and enjoy life and focus on your dreams. That's all any of us can do my friend. Anyway that's my philosophy.

Where does the inner journey begin
Thunder_Gooch replied to eccentric215's topic in Daoist Discussion
Talk to Ya Mu here on the forums, also the spring forest qigong level 1 course is worth buying. Chunyi lin is a great teacher. I posted my tips in the advance energy techniques thread. -
I just go to bed, sometimes I wake up but I am not in a real world, I guess it's more like a lucid dream because there is no body left on the bed, and I can't fly or have control over the dream. All senses work just like this world, I can eat or shower or whatever. There have been times I've posted on the internet and read books or gone to work even, only to come to find out it never actually happened in real life. Quite maddening to say the least and scary as hell, when the dream starts to collapse around you. I am not even training at all right now and most of the time it just happens when I least expect it to.

Taoist Yoga by C. Luk is available on PDF? That would help me tremendously if it's not picture scans and it is actual text. I could create a word document and go through and batch replace terms that sound like gibberish to me with what they actually mean and reread it till I understood it and condensed it. It doesn't flow well at all for me. It was like these guys did the English translation:

Don't worry I've blown thousands on books and most turn out to be garbage to discuss philosophy when they claim to be the teachings of a school. Jim is also worth contacting. The spring forest qigong level one course is worth buying too imho. Dr. Jerry Allen Johnson's upcoming book looks to be good. And Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics 2nd Edition is a good book on energy work. Most everything else I've found has been garbage, not much in the way of real training material is in print, it's all philosophical discourse. Taoist Yoga by Charles luk is reputed to be a real training manual but it is so badly translated it is painful to even hold in my hands. It reads like some porno for dragons and tigers and ancient alchemy lab experiment manual with mercury and lead, way to much Jargon and nonsense I would have to sit down and re-translate it with with common English descriptions of all the nonsense words and phrases and rewrite it more simply for it to be useful.

Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
My impressions from speaking with him but may not be accurate based on my wrong thinking mental filter, was that there was no first cause as all causes never happened, nothing has ever occurred and all that has occurred is a dream and delusion. There is only the emptiness which is infinite mind, qi, spirit or whatever you want to call it, and it is dreaming that it is you, but there is no you, just the dream of you. The best impression I got from him which may be my own mind distorting the meaning of his words was that, emptiness is like spirit, consciousness, mind, observer and it is all that exists period. And we are all it. It was more like nothing was the space in between planets the void in between was filled with spirit or qi or consciousness, and it was full to the brim with that. But from our perspective it was the emptiness in a tea cup, the void. What was unreal was physical matter and phenomenon, they were delusion that had no real existence. Physical matter and physical bodies were just illusions that this empty spirit wore like clothes, but inside us all was this spirit which was also the same thing as the void and it animated all life everywhere but was in and of itself one being and not separate beings. Sort of like the wind blowing the sails of a boat or a leaf in the wind. -

Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Well I believe he has attained non dual awareness which is what he defines as enlightenment. I think that's the intellectual half of the equation. I haven't seen him walk through a wall yet, that's the physical half of the equation. Maybe he is only 50% there I don't really know. -
The book is an actual training manual and is worth purchasing. +1

I was searching on google and found this. Yang chi is like sun light, life energy, it is active and moves of it's own accord, it is aware but not consciousness. Yin chi is like gravity, empty energy, it is passive and bends and warps space to bring things to it, it is like sleeping consciousness with no awareness to it. Supposedly we are only alive because we have both. Our bodies are yin shells filled with yang energy, if the yang energy runs out we die. If the yin container is ruptured we die and the yang goes back into the environment at death. Yang unconstrained radiates back into the universe, and needs a yin container like a balloon. As I understand it when yin and yang chi are fused as one, yang no longer needs to be contained by yin, as the fusion has resulted in void. Maybe this is Shen to void? You can read more about it in the Magus of java around page 50 or so in that chapter.

Studies document energy coming from trees :)
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Daoist Discussion
Our metabolism slows down at night though, so maybe it's not so bad. I think maybe the trees just have to run on battery power as there is no sun to shine to keep them going, they have to kick their process in reverse and start converting the energy they were saving and storing in the roots back to into energy just like we do normally. Tuber plants like potatoes can survive a harsh winter by the energy stored in a potato under ground and you can power a clock with a potato or a human too. There is lots of solar energy stored as chemical energy in it. Chunyi lin says when we sleep at night we go back into the emptiness, where we effortlessly balance yin and yang energies. Maybe the plants are eternally in emptiness to be as good as they are at harvesting yin and yang energy. -
Lets figure out who the best translator would be, I am SURE some people on here speak fluent mandarin, maybe they could give us a discounted group rate. I wouldn't expect them to do it for free but whatever they feel is fair. I would chip in $20 or so if everyone else did. As long as they are a long time respected member and not some fly by night scam guy from Australia.

Maybe we could pool together some money, pay to have a quality translation done and resub the videos and upload them?

And yet I quoted from the words of this man who did just that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoOgZsQGQpA Of course this won't be enough for you, not until someone wins the Randi Foundation Challenge and every scientist in the world announces people can do things we cannot explain scientifically yet, would you be willing just maybe to budge a little. I know I've repeated experiments in a trance state and been able to wake a sleeping person up on command as a direct response to my stimulus. I've also documented gamma band spikes at such moments on an EEG, and statistical anomalies in with a random event generator. I've also been able to extinguish particular jarred candles out of many during a trance state. How much proof would you have to experience for yourself to admit maybe science doesn't yet understand everything? Don't get wrapped up in the Dogma that if science cannot explain it doesn't exist or doesn't happen. That's BULLS*** We are just apes in the grand scheme of things, our technology and scientific understanding are the best things we have, but they don't represent a complete and total understanding of the universe or it's workings. We didn't used to understand germs, doctors used to not wash their hands before surgeries or delivering babies. The doctor who figured out germs existed; Ignaz Semmelweis and hands should be washed and linens sanitized, was locked away as insane and died ironically from a bacterial blood infection, for his beliefs because no one would listen to him and thought he was crazy talking about germs on hands killing people. It wasn't until Louis Pasteur that germ theory was created. If we traveled back in time and tried to convince men of science we could talk to people thousands of miles away on invisible waves that traveled through solid matter, they would probably have us hauled off and lobotomized. Don't get me wrong about energy techniques, 99% of everything out there is newage BULLS*** and makes me want to puke rainbows, but the advice I gave aint. You can test it out for yourself and see, isn't that all the validation you need? Here are some more videos for you: Tummo (inner fire meditation similar to mo pai) master Wim Hof: http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/2002/04.18/09-tummo.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_wave http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.02/dalai.html Or what about Buddhist monks EEG's that show in meditation their brainwaves shoot up to 42Hz and have such high amplitude they are 30x higher than normal people attempting meditation, or that 42Hz is related to consciousness itself as it disappears under general anesthesia, and is seen during aha! or eureka moments for split second bursts, or if the thalamus at the center of the brain is damaged even slightly it prevents it from starting the gamma wave to begin with and the animal or person slips into a lifelong coma. I also have tons of studies that document Taoist masters producing electromagnetic anomalies, from pubmed.gov but again I am sure you would just pick them apart saying oh well there was no control group, or it was run by a Japanese university, or oh it was 10 years ago, or whatever other excuse you might find to maintain your current paradigm. There is plenty of valid scientific evidence, and hey you can test it out for yourself and see if it's BS. What a better way than to validate the truth for yourself?

How to make synchronicities become helpful?
Thunder_Gooch replied to Owledge's topic in General Discussion
It has been my experience that synchronicities are warnings about something really important. The last time I got so many it almost caused me to have an existential melt down, a friend asked if I wanted to ride with them somewhere and I said not today I have to go home sorry. They were in a really bad car wreck. It might not just be a danger it could be something equally important you are supposed to be paying attention to. Always be rational, but listen to your intuition when what it tells you to do could not be viewed as irrational or dangerous, maladaptive or dysfunctional. -
Junk Food Linked With Increased Depression Risk: Study
Thunder_Gooch replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
It's also linked with Chicken Nugget Withdrawal Syndrome: -
The definitive guide to achieving OBE's is Astral Dynamics 2nd Edition by Robert Bruce. He drones on and on, and you could condense the book into a few paragraphs of knowledge but it's still a good author and his system is the best I am aware of. Be careful though. I OBE all the time and sometimes you get stuck in a hell like dream you cannot wake up from, sometimes there is physical pain and suffering and you just have to wait it out. It's not all puppies and rainbows.

Studies document energy coming from trees :)
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Daoist Discussion
The energy exchange for me is not parasitic but symbiotic, the tree gets my waste energy that is causing problems, in return I get the trees energy that heals and nourishes. The tree uses sunlight to transform my waste energy back into healing energy. The way I see it trees eat our waste, we breath out CO2, which they use like we do oxygen. We pee out ammonia which is nitrogen rich they use like fertilizer. Everything that is waste to us, is nutrition to them. They take sunlight and use this energy to transform our waste back into food and medicine. Trees are the ultimate Qigong masters, they take yin and yang energy and fuse them together effortlessly. We think we are so advanced but we could not exist were it not for plants and trees absorbing sunlight and turning dirt into food for us. -
Game: A Scene from a Movie to explain a taoist concept

It seems to me most people overlook the most basic thing about ALL energy work techniques. None of them work at all without first achieving a deep trance state via meditation. That's the key! And almost everyone everywhere misses it. It's so simple it hurts. Every system talks about this as the first step, but almost no one gets it, why is that? If you read the Magus of Java where chang talks about meditation: That's the state you are trying to achieve, a deep trance state the in between waking and sleeping state. Energy can't be worked with in any other state. No one gets anywhere with anything because they aren't first in a deep trance state. Every system from Spring Forest Qigong, to Mo Pai and Long Men Pai teach this, but no one seems to get it and it's the most important and fundamental thing upon which all else is built. The saying "Energy Flows Where Attention Goes" is true in a literal sense, You focus your attention like a laser at one spot to heat it up and fill it with energy. Next energy is felt, not visualized. You feel it, you don't visualize it. You won't have to guess if something is happening or not or if you are working with qi or not, you will know you are, or are not. Next you CAN permanently damage your lower dan tein (and end all future development) by working with it if you don't follow precautions. Do not work with it if have ejaculated within a week. Females aren't supposed to work with it during menstruation. Work with the middle dan tein at the solar plexus during these times. Here are some more tips from Chunyi Lin of Spring Forest Qigong: That's the most powerful and most advanced advice I have for you. Best wishes with your practice.
