Qi Gong, lots of people are using it to deceive
Thunder_Gooch replied to Lao Tzu's topic in Daoist Discussion
Gamma brainwaves (42Hz) are linked to consciousness itself as they disappear under general anesthesia, and are seen in high amplitude split second bursts during Aha! or Eureka moments. Like when you learn how to work a new type of math problem, or have a sudden realization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_wave http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.02/dalai.html http://www.pnas.org/content/101/46/16369.long -

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1767800 Effect of emitted bioenergy on biochemical functions of cells. Chien CH, Tsuei JJ, Lee SC, Huang YC, Wei YH. Department of Biochemistry, National Yang-Ming Medical College, Taipei, Taiwan. The 3-5 microns infrared spectra of the external "Qi" generated by a "Qigong" master from his palm was measured using a III-V compound semiconductor InSb detector. It was found that certain Qigong master can emit two opposite kinds of "Qi": the "facilitating" (beneficial) and "inhibiting" (destroying) "Qi". During the facilitating "Qi" emission, large amount of infrared wave were detected by a temperature rise of the air in the vicinity. When the inhibiting "Qi" was emitted, the infrared wave was absorbed from the environment resulting in a cooling of the air. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1353653 Detection of extraordinary large bio-magnetic field strength from human hand during external Qi emission. Seto A, Kusaka C, Nakazato S, Huang WR, Sato T, Hisamitsu T, Takeshige C. Department of Physiology, School of Medicine, Showa University, Tokyo, Japan. It is generally accepted that more than 10(-6) gauss order magnetism was not detected in normal human condition. However, we detected 10(-3) gauss (mGauss) order bio-magnetic field strength from the palm in special persons who emitted External Qi ("Chi" or "Ki"). This detection was possible by special arranged magnetic field detection system, consisted of a pair of 2 identical coils with 80,000 turns and a high sensitivity amplifier. Each of the coils were rolled 80,000 turns accurately, and were connected in series in opposite direction, actuating as a gradiometer. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9051169 Emission of extremely strong magnetic fields from the head and whole body during oriental breathing exercises. Hisamitsu T, Seto A, Nakazato S, Yamamoto T, Aung SK. Department of Physiology, Showa University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. This article reports the result of an experiment that was designed to measure the biomagnetic field emanating from two individuals who were practising traditional Oriental Qi Gong breathing exercises. The biomagnetic field was measured with differential coils wound 80,000 turns, a magnetic needle compass and a digital electromagnetic wave detection device. It was found that an extremely strong magnetic field was emitted from the two individuals. One subject emitted a magnetic field at the level of 200-300 mT (2-3 mGauss) and the other at 0.13 mT (1.3 mGauss). In both cases, moreover, the magnetic needle compass rotated 30 degrees (this was tested 32 times). When the rotation of the needle occurred, a reproducible magnetic field of 800-1500 mT (8-15 mGauss) was indicated on the digital measuring device (this was tested 12 times). It is concluded that traditional Oriental Qi Gong breathing appears to stimulate an unusually large biomagnetic field emission. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11474806 Effects of QiGong on brain function. 1: Neurol Res. 2001 Jul;23(5):501-5. Litscher G, Wenzel G, Niederwieser G, Schwarz G. Biomedical Engineering Unit, Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, University of Graz, Auenbruggerplatz 29, A-8036 Graz, Austria. [email protected] QiGong is an ancient and widely practiced Chinese meditation exercise. We studied the effects of QiGong on brain function with modern neuromonitoring tools in two subjects. In a male QiGong master (extremely trained practitioner), the technique induced reproducible changes in transcranial Doppler sonography, EEG, stimulus-induced 40 Hz oscillations, and near-infrared spectroscopy findings. Similar effects were seen after the application of multimodal stimuli and when the master concentrated on intense imagined stimuli (e.g. 22.2% increase in mean blood flow velocity (vm) in the posterior cerebral artery, and a simultaneous 23.1% decrease of vm in the middle cerebral artery). Similar effects were seen in the female subject. Neuromonitoring during QiGong appears able to objectify accompanied cerebral modulations surrounding this old Chinese meditation exercise. -
不久,我应该有摸排手册。这可能是一个骗局,但我希望这是真实的。我需要帮助翻译。任何人都可以在这里推荐一个人来帮助谁可以阅读和理解古代汉语的著作和道教文化。

I'd be interested in seeing if his ip address comes from a proxy service or from Australia. -

Surprisingly I agree with Lao Tzu on this point. I would say 99.999% of all teachings on the spiritual market are just made up hog wash. Most people who claim to have developed abilities are frauds, and bad magicians. Not all of it is bs, not all teachers are frauds though, just most. -

I doubt a private forum would do much good. -
Can someone tell me the names of Qigong masters in America?

His hands are very thick and calloused as could be expected from chronic exposure. He is a scam, he refuses to demo his abilities without water and tinfoil. -

fairly sure he is as well, he took up for the scammer in several threads then deleted the posts. He says he knows who he is and also lives in Australia, and posted screenshots which show him trying to use some anonymous search engine, which further leads me to think he is trying to cover his tracks online. The scammer doesn't seem to smart to be honest, just very determined. -

No one is exempt, not even businesses that think they are immune. More than likely this will be abused to shut down competition. For example. Megaupload recently released a song they made with artists which support them, the MPAA filed a false DMCA take down request to have it pulled off the internet even thought they did not own copyrights to it. Just because they could, sort of like a slap in the face. This type of abuse is very common to snuff out competition. Basically it will be harder to apply to a larger company with more money to fight, and bribe it's way out, but no one is immune. -

I've spoken with someone I trust that sought him out, he tasted the water and it burnt his tongue with caustic lye which reacts with aluminum foil. -

More than likely it will be selectively enforced based on how much money you can use to bribe your way out of being closed down. It will definitely be a great way to shut anyone up that they thinks needs to be shut up. -

Not to get too off topic but the latest NDAA passed in 2011 allows them to arrest, and indefinitely detain US citizens on US soil, no access to an attorney, no contact with friends and family, if accused of being a terrorist or connected to terrorists, just the accusation alone is enough to shred all freedoms guaranteed in the constitution and bill of rights. You have to boil frogs slowly, otherwise they jump out of the pot. When martial law arrives the transition will have been so gradual no one really will have noticed. -

Chunyi Lin is considered a master, but I don't know if he has developed any abilities other than healing. His system is geared towards healing. Robert Peng is a similar master, supposedly he has the ability to generate internal chi strong enough to shock another person, but he hasn't submitted himself to a thorough investigation to check for devices. Until he does I would remain skeptical even though he appears to be a very nice person. If there are other masters who have developed abilities and they live in the USA I am unaware of them. Master Zhou Ting-Jue turned out to be a fraud, mixing sodium hydroxide (lye) with water to react with tinfoil to produce the feeling of heat from qi. Remember most of the people who pass themselves off as masters, or authors are really just looking to make a buck. I would say 99.99% of the teachers and authors just make crap up, the most famous ones are just better at marketing. The spiritual community is mostly filled with frauds and liars just wanting your money. That's just the nature of the industry. -

The opposition for this bill is massive with virtually every online tech community up in arms about it, one of the founders of the internet itself, google, microsoft, the Standford law review declares it blatantly unconstitutional, Sandia national labs says it will be huge setback to internet security as it will outlaw DNSSEC. It is obvious the senators don't actually understand what they are voting on, or what it will do. If it passes and isn't found unconstitutional our internet will be probably more censored than China. And that isn't an exaggeration. The problem is normal people are unaware of this bill, or that they are soon to vote on it. It is being rushed to avoid as much opposition as is possible. -

let's say a user here on the tao bums uploads a video and shares it with us of themselves practicing tai chi or meditation or discussing philosophy, in the background copyrighted music is playing. Or a user quotes from a copyrighted book, or shares some other media that is copyrighted. The person holding the copyrights could file a complaint under sopa and have the entire community itself nuked off the internet. This isn't an exaggeration, this most likely will indeed happen. Sopa and protect IP will create a system of censorship for the US internet at least as bad if not worse than China. As a matter of fact this was given as a reason for supporting the bill by the MPAA, and RIAA being that systems like this work in China, and Iran and other oppressive governments and could also work here. Most likely as the DOJ will be in charge of this program, sites that support organizations like operation wall-street and other sites which organize to protest will be pulled offline and their communications halted. The potential for abuse is astronomical. Imagine an internet with no wikipedia, google, youtube, thetaobums, and other forums. Impossible? Think again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act I urge you to read up on this bill, and call your elected officials stating your concerns if you like large communities like thetaobums. You can find the phone numbers and email your representatives here, email isn't very effective calling is better. https://action.eff.org/o/9042/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=8173 -

The Tao is the energy which powers the rotation of all galaxy's, the light shining from all stars, the movement of everything down the motion of the orbiting electrons and other subatomic particles of all atoms, it the energy which powers the minds of all beings and gives rise to conscious experience and thought itself. It powers the transformation of universe at every level as time progresses. At least that is my understanding of the Tao. A person who achieved unity with the Tao would have reached Godhood, and have a complete and total understanding of the ultimate nature of reality. A spiritually immortal being with no need for a physical body. Or at least I would think as much. That is the end goal of meditation for me, even though I doubt I will ever reach it. If that isn't what unity with the "Tao" means (to the sages of old), then I guess I am not looking for the Tao but rather something else. I think a lot of others here searching for the same thing I am. If what I seek isn't unity with the Tao(according to the sages of old), then I know of no better name or way to describe it. -

I think I speak on behalf of most of us here. We honestly want to hear why you believe we are wrong. We realize that you have trouble with translating to English. Many people here are good with Chinese as well as English, and can help translate. I for one would very much like to hear why we are wrong, and what your reasons are for saying this. Please use Chinese to communicate if it is easier for you. -

I don't wish to cause anyone problems or make them sick. I get angry sometimes, and don't fully consider consequences of my actions. I am sincerely sorry and will try to be more considerate in the future. For what it is worth I am very squeamish when it comes to blood and guts in real life, I got very sick dissecting a cat in anatomy and physiology. I don't watch much horror, scanners was about psychic warfare. -
He is just some scam artist not connected to the school who is capitalizing on the huge interest in the mo pai school in general. http://taoist-magic.blogspot.com/ he runs that blog as well as about 100 others he's created he comes here and creates tons of new fake accounts to plug himself. recently he's been spotted on the xtrememe mind forums scamming people as well. I will give it to the ******* he's good at what he does, I don't see how someone can live with themselves being a liar and a thief and enjoying taking advantage of honest hard working people. It is sick and something a scumbag, parasite on society does. I hope this guy gets his ******* ripped apart by karma, or a big burly man in prison, which ever comes first.

Sorry maybe I am just desensitized, exploding heads is pretty standard stuff for me. It was from the movie scanners, it wasn't an actual head exploding. -
There is an Australian scammer claiming to have a copy of the mo pai manual, you send him hundreds of dollars he sends you nothing. He has scammed lots of people and comes here to create tons of fake accounts with low posts to scam people here in this community. Keep your eyes open, don't send anyone money via paypal, western union or via money order.
