Internet Generation and Tao Training
Thunder_Gooch replied to fiveelementtao's topic in General Discussion
The internet generation is usually able to find the information they need, when they need it and teach themselves for free. When I look for a teacher and a system I ask myself what is the goal of this system, and what students have had success with it? Does it actually deliver or is it just more newage BS taught by some loser living in his moms basement trying to make a buck? You have to remember 99.99999% of spiritual systems out there don't actually do anything. This market is mostly filled with scams. Show us the beef and make a good product, don't gouge on price and we will buy it. Just my $0.02 -
I will give you my thoughts on what time is but I need to give a little background information first so it makes sense. Back in 2005 I think it was I tripped out pretty hard core (no drugs involved) This ended badly so please do not try to recreate my experiment. I had read a study about the brainwaves of Buddhist monks that had accumulated 50+ years and 50,000+ hours of metta meditation experience. Their brainwaves showed off the chart record breaking levels of high amplitude gamma brainwaves around 42hz. Gamma brainwave activity is only seen in brief split second bursts in normal people only then usually when they have an AHA! or Eureka moment or functionalize some new knowledge like how to work a new type of math problem. So I was like wow that is awesome, I am going to attempt to force my brainwaves into the same brainwave patterns using binarual beat brainwave entrainment at 42hz. I meditated daily for 30 minutes using the program and focused on compassion for myself and the entire universe as is described in metta and towards the end of a few weeks massive amounts of insights and new ideas and things were flowing out of me I couldn't write it all down fast enough. Towards the end of it, I reached a point where I couldn't sleep and had to stop using the entrainment program I made. It didn't help though as I already crossed over into trip out land. This was the turning point for me as an atheist with no belief in anything supernatural as other people close to me were also affected even though separated by distances of hundreds of miles. In a dream like state I called my girlfriend during this time on a cellphone and we both remember the conversation, but it never occurred in this reality. We checked the logs on both phones but neither phone showed anything. Other friends and family members were having weird dreams and crazy experiences, so I am certain this rippled out beyond just me and wasn't purely hallucinatory. I still consider the insights I gained to be invaluable but wouldn't recommend anyone else ever try it. Ok so onto my thoughts on what time is. During my experience I experienced time as the speed at which my consciousness moved through 4D space. It was as if past, present and future were apart of a solid object. Imagine that you have a cardboard box, the box that existed yesterday, exists now, and will exist tommorrow are all apart of a solid object. Past future are just points of reference. So the you when you were born, the you of now, and the you of tomorrow are all just as real, exist with the same reality as the present you, and are just as real and tangible. Your consciousness moves through this object which the past you, present you and future you are apart of. Time is the location and speed of movement of your consciousness through this object. I further experienced that moment to moment with each choice and possibility that the consciousness is navigating through a multiverse of infinite possibilities, and each of those worlds are just as real as our own, for each possibility there is a reality to account for it. It went even further with me having different bodies in different realities at the same time, and being like a many armed buddha. Trying to navigate my awareness in and out of different bodies and my awareness being stuck in different ones at the same time and not being able to coordinate in one reality and do something as simple as use the bathroom. Imagine having a leg in one world, an eye in another, and a arm in yet another, and getting different audio and video feeds from different realities. I was trying to have multiple conversations with different versions of the exact same person at the same time and it led to massive confusion. It was a very traumatic experience, beyond any LSD trip I have ever heard about. It was enough to convert me from a staunch atheist.

How does one become an immortal according to taoism?
Thunder_Gooch replied to RongzomFan's topic in General Discussion
If I knew I would tell you, the knowledge of how to accomplish it isn't publicly available. According to the book the magus of java, the lower dan tein is filled with yang energy, and the perineum point is filled with yin, the dan tein is sent down to that point and brought back and forced together in an explosive discharge. After that you've reached the first level of immortality but not considered a true immortal until somewhere around level 30. All the schools that teach this sort of knowledge keep it under lock and key. -

The yin and the yang spirits must be fused together, how this is accomplished isn't taught publicly. -
I have a lot of respect for them. I am trying to get an acre and a camper and minimize my bills to their absolute minimum, so I don't have to work more than necessary. I think though the cost of living would go much lower if there were many people acting as room mates, sharing the expenses. I'd love to grow my own food and be off grid and all that but unless I win the lottery I don't see it happening any time soon.
-
I guess what I am looking for is a community that all want to work part time jobs, and split the bills and live like mexicans (no racism intended) who can be respectful and quite enough to let other people meditate and train not get drunk and smoke pot and blast music etc. lol. growing your own food seems like too much work considering a few hours of labor can feed you well with healthy organic food.
-
Basically I am saving every penny I can towards buying my own land and camper to build my own one person commune. I want to get my cost of living down as low as is humanly possible. I've always wondered if there were others attempting to do the same thing for their training and cultivation. I guess the point of this thread is that it seems it would be easier with multiple people pitching in and sharing bills. If nothing else it's an interesting thought.
-
I wouldn't care what the other people did or or believed as long as I was left alone to my training. The perks of this arrangement would basically be that we would all be able to work part time and still have lots of money, and split the costs of living so many ways we could live very cheaply. That's my theory anyway. Not to sound racist but it works really well for the Mexican's I know. They share the cost of transportation, electricity, housing, etc. if an appliance breaks the cost is split evenly etc. The cost of living in that manner is about as cheap as it will ever get.

The Truth of another is as important to them as your own is to you

Very poetic but can you re-translate for laymen like myself, maybe break it down on a 5th grade level. -

I completely agree, it is their life to do with as they wish. It is useless and a waste of your time and resources to argue with someone over their practices and beliefs. However it doesn't change the fact they are blithering idiots, if they spend their lives on practices that do nothing and get no results. Most of the spiritual market is flooded with bullshit teachers who have never accomplished anything, their techniques and practices do nothing other than make the people who buy their materials wallets lighter (wallet qing gong?) I realise it's not my place nor anyone else's to proselytize. If a person is smart enough to be a critical thinker they will look for teachers that have accomplished something via their practice, then study and evaluate which practices work and which don't on a personal level, if they are retarded they won't and will never accomplish anything as a result. It's karma in a literal sense. I guess though my viewpoint is a little bit hypocritical, as I have had some false beliefs myself. Trusting people I don't know is among them. I guess you live and you learn. -

Are other peoples truths really truths or delusions? I have several friends in real life who are into wicca and high "magick" and every week they are so thoroughly convinced that this time their new occult knowledge and spells and rituals will allow them to obtain obscene wealth and or win the lottery or something equally as grandiose. It's been like this since I met them in high school and they still live in their parents basement. So thoroughly convinced that this time they have the correct formula. Quite a lot of people here have practices with no stated goals, but they are convinced their way is best, even though they have no idea what their practices are even supposed to do. From my perspective quite a lot of other peoples truths are just delusions. I agree with you though, that pointing out facts such as these to deluded people probably isn't a good idea. It serves no purpose, and will only cause problems. -
Other forums like vsociety dedicated to siddhi development?
Thunder_Gooch posted a topic in General Discussion
I recently found the vsociety forums and they seem more geared towards siddhi development than ttb. Does anyone know of any other forums like vsociety? Just curious. Thanks -mpg -
What's the difference between neigong and qigong?

Gerad, It was not directed at you. More at the community at large. Most people here are just dabblers and weekend meditation warriors. My point was this place isn't really the place to be asking for help for issues such as this, as not many could help even if they wanted to.
-
Most people here have no clue what you are talking about and have never experienced anything like you describe, and can't offer you any real advice. My advice is if you smoke pot or do any other drugs, choose now between drugs and cultivation and pick one. Trying to do both is extremely unbalancing, and is going to lead to further attacks on you and perhaps even psychosis. If you think you are under attack turn the water in the shower on luke warm so it isn't cold and sit under a stream of water until it gets too cold to bare. For whatever reason atomized water seems to harm these entities. Next stop meditating and eat a large protein meal and go to bed. Something about a heavy protein meal is very grounding.

I think it is very important, at least for me it is. I want to end the cycle of rebirth and never be reborn again. That's my primary goal for life.

I have meditated and done energy work within a lucid dream. The energetic sensations inside the body are amplified 1000 fold, and it is easy to focus the mind with little mind noise (monkey mind).

Grandmaster Wang Liping Private Intensive April 16 - 25, 2011

I may have been told wrong, but I think it is still wise to check with both parties to compare prices before giving anyone that much money. I still don't understand the purpose of forming a second dragon gate group when a one already existed. -

If I am not mistaken you guys are charging many hundreds of dollars in excess of the actual cost, a brokers fee maybe? Be careful everyone go through the official channels, don't get scalped. -

http://www.laoziacademy.us/ http://laoziacademy.us/2011_neidan.htm [email protected] [email protected] Those are the only official ways to contact, pay and sign-up for this retreat. You guys be careful if someone else asks you to go through some other channel to pay for this. They may be scamming you or charging more than it actually costs. -

I think some practices are better suited for some goals than others. I think we owe it two ourselves to define clearly what it is we want to achieve via our practice, then find people who have accomplished that goal and learn from them or at least learn their practices. To me that makes the most sense. I have a lot of friends who are into reiki and wicca and are trying to accomplish things via those practices that simply are not possible, it's like trying to fit a large square peg in a small round hole.

Feeling of time passing by, or time flying
Thunder_Gooch replied to Trash Filter's topic in General Discussion
I remember experiencing this several times during deep meditation, the entire night passed within 30 minutes. I remember my sister on the computer the sound of the keyboard sounded like she was typing at 10,000 words a minute. Very surreal. My only explanation was that my mind had slowed down causing the experience of time outside of me to speed up.
