thanks yall, I will keep investigating Eva Wong, I do enjoy her translations very much but would rather study with her in person of course! Wow she must be good in the sack?

Just saw this movie, and it was really good. Anyone else seen?

Seemed more zenlike than BUddhist to me, but yeah... I thought it was amazing. I liked how in the martial sequence he kept returning to putting his hands in prayer mudra. Also just the entire vibe... it was almost a silent movie - the plot was in the movements not the words. Picturesque, I think any Taobum would highly appreciate this!

Any wisdom-hardened tips on it? I know mine needs some work because my Jade Pillow (aka many other names...) is going through some trials and tribulations.

If you could Remake Master Mantak Chia's videos

Does Chia fail in teaching how to purify the mind? In the Tao, mind is really the organ's spirits... Wisdom, Compassion, Kindness... all of these things I learned from Chia. How come some people did not? How come I struggled with it for a long time? I it not easy, even for the masters to cultivate true or authentic spirit--on the other hand, it is the easiest thing!? Well, I feel the consensus here is that Chia should shine out his virtues more. Perhaps if he made all his videos free and well produced, this would help? Then, with the expanded attention generated from a well poduced and free (virtuous and skillful) video set promotion... he would still be afloat and stronger than ever in re-builing the Tao empire? IDK just an idea... got to remember, the first set came out in the mid eighties... they are great to watch over again, sometimes... Chia only regrets putting them all out so fast (I am told). -
Sexual teachings of the White Tigress

There is also a book for men, the Green Dragon. I believe this method involves taking time to rest and circulate the light, and also using various techniques like "voyeurism" (watching the partner masterbate) and having multiple partners, emphasizing ORAL sex as this is said to keep more essence in... Coital sex is more for special dragons and tigers... I think this stuff is decent - not very highly recommended nor would I say it is "full of shit" but somewhere in between. -
THanks for elucidating that DrQi. I was expecting to hear that these things have some kind of internal signifigance... turns out these things are more external than I expected and perhaps I will stop reading Eva Wong's book as I am not getting too much out of it... I know parts of all her books are quite valueble but they all mention this crazy lead and mercury business... perhaps there is some deeper meaning that we have not addressed?

If you could Remake Master Mantak Chia's videos

Wow these are some forceful responses from Trunk. I must stand behind CHIA and say he gave me a lot of wisdom and compassion. I do not like to hear these things, nor do I want to discuss Chia's flaws (obviously been done enough). Say he was to "redo" the entire system from the ground up? What, then, kind of foundation might you see? Can Pop taoism ever take off? Or will it always be a secret discipline that never sees the light of day? True, a live teacher is ideal. Some people live in remote areas however. For this reason I am very thankful for pop Taoism. Now I am moving on to study with other real live masters and reading Eva Wong, but what if I never had access to Chia in the first place? What about the next generation of people who are going to be in my shoes? Is it not a noble effort to fix Chia's system so that pop newbies can have a smoother introduction? I beg to differ and argue that Chia does have an open ear and an unbiased pursuit of truth. If I am going to exceed Chia iny my cultivation, I would rather bring him to stand with me as a friend then "move on." I owe Chia a lot for introducing me to the Universe for my first time - this is more than I can say for any other supposed taoist master or qi gong teacher or anyone else I have been able to find. Yes, Grandmaster Zhang was great to spend time with, but I would not have had any clue about what he offers if I did not read Transform Stress 3 and a half years ago. Now, I even know this non "authentic" master is rumored to be a good friend of Grandmaster Zhang. Who is more authentic than him? Yang Jwing Ming? yeah right. I give props to Jwing but hes a madman too, all the pop Qi gong and Taoist teachers are like madmen. What can we do to tame them? Anything? I am studying the Tao and there is no looking back - how do we move forward with more authenticity and truth? Can we ever recover from our experiences studying Chia's tapes (or with his live teachers) if this is so bad? (I do not really think it is.) If so, HOW? Oh, and when you say "popular culture" I think of like infomercials and whatnot. This is not what Chia has done- his stuff is relatively secret and not advertised. Maybe his stuff should have infomercials? If it is made safer, clearer, and updated from 25 years ago when the practices were less refined! That might help a lot of people. Yes it can be hard without a live teacher - but I think pop Taoism is a postive thing and I support it's responsible evolution! -
This very well could be so. It would be interesting to conduct a study and find out. I sure like this idea.

So far thelearners response blows aways everyone else's in my view. People: if you have issues, please elaborate on specifics. This is our chance to not "move on" but help bridge these practices into the modern age. Darrin, yes, having it at a Taoist Monastery with young monks is one idea that is floating around. I was just thinking, why not include some really hot ass assistants? This thing is about sex anyways! A feature length film as suggested by the lerner is really not a bad idea... Ken Wilber is getting is getting Jennifer Aniston to play his wife in an upcoming movie... Why not get Jackie Chan to play Chia? just kidding Seriously, what are some ideas? How about a movie about world domination - kind of like Austin powers but with Mantak as Austin and Dr. Evil as Sarah Jessica Parker or something... idk bad idea. Anyways, the Atlantictao.com owner is the dude who is in charge of remaking this set. He envisions a global cultural awakening and making these practices common sense for humanity.... if we should "move on" from Chia, what should we adopt? John, of Atlantictao, suggests selling all the basic dvds, in a new set costing like 175 and calling it the "taoist hertage collection" or something like this. I suggested making the price a lot less... some people feel taoist practices should be like a birthright? Also, I might suggest not calling it "heritage" but instead "science" any thoughts on that? Finally, Rob Schnider from Deuce Bigalow and The Animal is a big fan of Chia, why not get him to add some humorous twists to the curriculum? Just a thought. Thanks. -
I heard that the wu dang tao master lived past 130. Some fasting ang qigong (movement and stillness) should easily make one live very long. Those people who are maaad long dont waste their breath bragging about it. I bet there is a number of masters in the mountains or whatnot... idk.... def Karma is something to consider.

True I got to meet him once. HIs teacher at Harvard was Tim Leary, who was also his wifes former husband. Anyways, who has opinions on his teachings? I know with the "flame out" website people were talking smack in the 32 signs of a buddha thread.
-
Jahnke actually talked smack about Winn and said that he does teach real tai chi for enlightenment. He said Winn only spent a short time with this teacher while he spent much longer and got the gull transmission. He said he should have asked me to bring Winn's dvd of it for him to borrow. I aske him how is the form. He said the form is magnificent. Spectrum: this is both nei and wei but it is moving - like push chi out to each finger. kinesthetic events should occur sometimes and the other points you ask about are not really addressed... he goes around in a circle to each direction a few times at least.

I just have to say that when I ate the Fly Agaric Mushrooms, my mouth would not stop watering for 7 or so hours. Now I know this is the Golden Elixir, at the time I was not an accomplished Yogi, but now I have an almost constant drip of (this is related to the tibetan "tigle" in that it emulates the soma...) sweet nectars. Just thought I had to share that, i dont know why... I been drooling like a dog lately but swallowing it before it drools.
-
When I met Roger Jahnke he said he learned it from this dude. I wonder if Grandmaster yuanming zhang knows this form.
-
havent had time to really spend with it, although it does seem niceand subtle

Trunk what do you mean by this? Booby traps? 2 strikes?

That is real true... I could see how having poor students drains a teachers energy.... And having diligent students will invigorate one's energy... The problem with world education these days, is that its just filling a bucket with water...we should let the buckets be filled with 100% organic fruit juice. At the same time, empowering people to BE OF SERVICE to earth, humanity and thie higher forces. Which in turn purifies the karma or whatnot...comes back around.
-
I know Wu is a serious teacher and I enjoyed his form and book. Still, Zhang is like 7th in this lineage with Wu is lilke 18th or something(?)... This, Zhang's teaching of this form is much more invigorating an subtle, and it also takes me a lot less time to perform. I did not mean to offend anyone, I am just saying that I wish I handt wasted mad time on that less authentic form. Of course, if I saw the original original fom from Lu Dong Bin or whoever supposedly have it to Lao Tsu or whatever, I would be saying Zhang duped me!!!!!!!!

Consider what Qidr is saying... He is talking about the state of Accupuncture Higher Education. The fact is, accupuncture education in this country is a communist farce!!!!!!!! For me to get an accupuncture degree, I would have to study all kinds of crazy courses like biology and chemistry an whatnot... it is no longer based on traditional taoist culture and science. How messed up is that? I would have to memeorize 365 herbs and learn about sticking needles in people? Qi Gong is the highest form of Chinese Medicine but the communists piss and shit all over it, while Americans are hypnotized by TV. Luckily some of us are trying to awaken the West to Qi Gong and anti-communism.

Anyone seen the I Ching-M.C. Orbit correlations in this book? Enlightening!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I had a digi cam or scanner I'd show you...

Hmm I will have to read that. I ALWAYS thought Sonnon goes WAAAAAAAY too fast on intu flow (interesting about the flexability point) an should slow down. Too bad he didnt do that in the first place, or include both a yin and yang form like with THe Universal Form (available on ebay for like bucks, a Shaolin Qi Gong). Can you point out these articles? I think this is the latest volume and edition link: http://www.rmaxinternational.com/home/inde...&Itemid=393

So I was talking to a Wu Dang Qi Gong teacher in Long Island recently, a student of master Tseng who moved from NY to CO. She teaches 13 classes per week. It just struck me that if one charges a modest $10 per classes and has only 10 students per class, one could easily make over $50,000 a year and only be "working" some 13 hours per WEEK! What a life? I am always thinking abou the rift between business and research...

Take it easy Buddy, your implying that you "know" when feel like you dont know much if your saying DrQi's statement is "stupid" when I think that is a genius way of looking at this. Qi Gong teaching has nothing to do with "other profesions" anyways, as it is a sacred are and not whatever you do for a living? What do you do? Nevermind, I dont want to know. Or do I? ...taking five steps back...
