The name Tao "Scientists" instead of "Bums" might show us taking ourselves more seriously? I love this site and name, but this is just a thought to consider: The tao is cultural and traditional science. As "bums" do we not integrate science? It could be argued that science is the "final frontier" for spirituality and religious hopes. Here in the West, perhaps we should give Eastern science (what I see as Tao) more respect? (Than seriously associating it with "BUMS"? In addition to "bums" being a very polarized aspect of the body and unoriginal in the sense of its relation to Dharma Bumas...not that the Dharma Bums werent the second coming of Christ j/k. I met one at a conference recently.)

This is why I want to study education. The education system needs to be reformed so people can at least study whatever they want. I do not mean this as a way for people to slack off, but as a way for people to get access to true teachings which can bring them deeper fulfillment and evolution. I feel this is the only way... of course people are not going to be striving to study this stuff, but if it is presented to them properly they would choose to study the Tao over 99.9 percent of things which are simply not useful or applicable to their life. Maybe that is a little extreme of a statement, but hey? This is the only way to world peace I think: inner peace. Yes, studying the Tao can be painful at first, it hurts the ego really bad when you learn and practice the healing sounds... getting over that hump, however, manifests ample rewards which I feel could be scientifically quantified.

Who is familiar with this book? One of the few Taoist Acupuncture schools in America, formerly called Tai Hsien (Hawaii) requires new students to read this!!!! That says a lot about the power of this book, and personally, just thinking about this book feels very enlightening - like I am on lsd or something (although I never tried lsd). I just got this book it in the mail today, woohoo! It is HEAVY reading... but just knowing this connection to the Taoist Accupuncture school is intense to think about. I remeber thinking this book was too advanced for me about a year ago, but now I think I could handle it better. Concordance in no particular order: body, even, experience, brain, consciousness, holographic, reality.

Right now I am talking about the 12 primary (not 8 extraordinary/psychic). How do you learn them? Like feel them as you study? Did you learn them? How long do they take to learn? Is learning separate from embodying them? Also, did anyone read Michel Winn's latest newsletter about the inner smile? That was a good peice!

Whoooooo check this out! http://www.radioqi.com/ -
Lol dont get me wrong about the subtle body thing, I meant that this is an unconscious function of relatively subtly unconscious people. I love all subtle bodies.

I was reading about Qi Gong on Wikipedia, and came accross this link to the Literati Tradition. I sent an email to the owner of the intriguing site, and he told me "whence" I read the qigong classics, I will know only then who is worthy to study with... Anyways, this website has some really interesting articles and whatnot. This dude is in Sacramento and appears to be the "real deal" kind of Chinese Shaman Emperor Qigong Master type... http://www.literati-tradition.com If anyone reads one of the many interesting articles, give us the highlight? I will as I have time to investigate...
-
Yes I just saw the ones on there, yesterday. They are very interesting, thats for sure. Something serious happens with the chi when uses a fist... something to play with... I sent him an email aking about the "Qigong Classics" texts and where to start...

I feel you man, this is a good thing to discuss. Master Chen is teaching a week long inner alchemy program in Colorado as he runs Wu Dang Tao.com and represents WU dang In America. The issue with this is, I found out he is charging $2500!! for the week training. That might be the real deal, but...anyways, Winn teaches the oral tradition...the book by David Twicken seems to teach the oral in written form, Chia... Yuanming Zhang, Xongxian Wu, Jefferey Yuen the 88th generation linage dude in NYC (I plan to meet him soon, anyone care to join?) and who else? I know Wong Kiew Kit doesn't seem to be teaching it, nor does most any other teachers... Jerry Alan Johnson does partly - more formalized. The whole Chinese thing is a political mess, shit through-up fart.

I dont think thats odd, very funny but not fully odd. The more pretty woman have better subtle body energy and make the yoga feel more attractive, even if your a woman looking at a hot woman! Obvioust tho. Darrin, that sounds lilke a sweet job? What do you do for a living? Coulnt be as sweet as teaching tai chi, eh? I wont why you dont do that at a different venue. Oh yeah, and I would never want to teach at a hosptial, too many ghosts!!!!!!!
-
Its incredible to see those dudes with the dreads and the balls hanging. Mostly id think of Chia doing that, and people pulling floats in parades with their balls in various countries...but saddus (they are called?) in India? I suppose it makes sense as Bodhi Dharma is from India, you think that dude is trying to wash his bone marrows?

True, I didnt calculate in room costs (although this might only be an issue in winter.) I think if you master Wu Dang Qi Gong and live in a quite metropolitian area, your would have no probelm retaining his many students: Wu Dang Qi Gong is unlike other Qi Gongs - it is the real deal unlike 99% of the stuff on the market, which is like Winn, Chia, Ducane, NQA people, all that... not that they dont have somethine to offer or are not good to learn, but I find that the most empowering and effective Qi Gong is Wu Dang, be far - meaning authentic, giving rewards and empowerment that keep one practicing...the most, most subtle and effective movements. As for the rift between research and business? I think people who are making a living teaching qigong need to unite better and document the benefits (or lack thereof) people are getting. This kind of accountability is KEY for anything in life. For people to really widely benefit from Qi gong, we simply have to prove its effectivness. Then, insurance companies will pay us to teach people because it will be in their interest to do so. Universities will support research to empower people, everyone will awaken to taking care of their own health rather than relying on other people or death to end their joke of a life which they lost interest in! I would teach qi gong, but I would feel wrong making a living out of it and charging other people for it. Instead, I would like to be payed to research Chi Gong and teach people because its their birthright to have an emancipated body and mind, free of the limitations of sickness-based medicine.

Wow this thread turned into a "who is the biggest bum" compteition. Now we even have people humping beach balls in regards to the Ta Bums Name! You think your cool tortuga? I'll show you cosmic bum action.... VS.

I was just listening to a Robert Thurman podcast. He mentions each world religions leader, and their essence... when he comes to Lao Tsu he mentions the the Tao with reality, flowing with reality.

Are you high on drugs? j/k Your right, my current vision may slightly differ from the Sean's initial conception. I do not like to think I am "trying" to change the name of this forum, it is Sean's forum and if I were really trying to change it, I would call him up or something. Right now I am just interested to see what people think about this question. Maybe Sean will end up agreeing, maybe not. I just get slightly depressed being called a bum all the time, even though I know it is a joke and we, as Taoists are the only people who can potentially save the world. And think about how much suffering there is in the world?

Audio Interview with 86 year old Qigong Reseach Institute founder
GrandTrinity posted a topic in General Discussion
Also, you can check out the awesome interview with the vice president of the Institute from this link. http://qigonginstitute.podomatic.com/entry...T09_42_51-08_00 Imagine Universities, High and Middle schools all studying qigong in their classes? Imagine all the medical schools teaching a serious qigong curriculum? Imagine [all the secrets] teachings revealed through the power of the web? ....a few things Sancier touches on. -
"If you watch enough T.V you'll end up on medication." HAHAHA, thats classic! New Order of the Ages, Ne World Order, New Secular World Order, whatever the translation is (I have heard all these) it is all the same meaning. They see a future of unification between religions. They want to "robotize" us so as to transcend religion. That is the new world order. Perhaps Maharishi's Trandscendental Meditation will take over the world. It sure seems like his New World Order vision is one of the most comprehensive (judging by the breadth and depth of his teachings). However, I think the most comprehensive, overall, is the United Nations and also Ken Wilber's vision. I think Manly P Hall has a vision too, which will and could be important. I am buying a book called Ancient Future which is about this... True, lets not focus too much on the negative "black hole" but rather, see the positive potential that will come out of this. For that, you might want to check out some Ken Wilber action!!!!!!!!!! Also see the Michael Tsarion lecture about 2012 on google or watch any Jordan Maxwell vidio on google video, trust me! Here is a link to a three hour ILLUMINATING Jordan Maxwell lecture: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=83...xwell&hl=en Please note that Maxwell is a pesamist though, he knows about the most corrupt underpinnings of society, religion, government - the bottom of the barrel. At the same time he unites their core... his 42 years of intense research is available to us for free. This is the dude who the researchers research (i.e. David Icke and Zacharia Sitchin and perhaps Ken Wilber.)

What prompted this thread was my thinking about higher education. Education, in the 21st century, is moving towards giving learners more freedom to liberate their mind (if I and other good people have anything to say about it.) The problems I see with the Taobums name (and I only see it as a problem in this context) is that the name is kind of a joke. Do not get me wrong, jokes are good, especially in higher education and all - but in all seriousness, some in "academia" (and the crowd goes wild) will automaticaly see "bums" as being a term implying some kind of evil! I would prefer people see Taobums as working to merge science and religion instead! My point is we need to be careful. In this next century, there is no limit to how much innovative and important growth a website like this can manifest. I am thinking on cosmic levels and I do not think "taobums" is considered a cosmic concept by most any non member who does not have insight into tao (even if they would like to). I feel like a name which implies more explicitly the unification of science and religion, even in a jokingly and good-humorous way is something to seriously think about for the future of neo-Taoism and world peace. We are in a new paradigm in this century, we have to expand our horizons people. I know Bums (well, sometimes) are good but I feel our name could be misconstrued as dualistic too easily. Perhaps my problem with the taobums name is that it resonates in the heart through base chakras? It does not even resonate in higher chakras and barely in the heart at all - maybe with some intellectual shit interpretation of tao. Bums implies laziness and slowness, nothing like "supreme clarity" or "celestial masters" or "complete perfection." Do you see what I am saying? Compare our name to authentic Taoist cults/clans like "heavenly heart" and you get a completely slower and lower resonance in your subtle body. Who can argue with that? I know some of you will, but as Lao Tsu says, arguments are not good!

Other than Winn and Chia, are there any good sources for learning about astrology? I was reading about the Hindu views on Wiki, and found this really interesting. Anyways, does anyone teach an "experiential" view of astrology? What would it be like to live as the Earth with the heavenly bodies moving around?

Interesting Wayfarer, and thanks for these very insightful words Treena. I, for one, however, do not like this "Dropout from regular society" idea. I think that is why we do need our feet in both worlds as "scientists" rather than "bums." Like with the rags but the gleam in the eye. Right now it seems like Tao bums is just rags and hasnt broken into potential academic higher education? Like vamping up the Tao bums activities and taking over the world eventually... no joke. Not the there is much of a difference between a "scientist" and a "bum"!!! I just feel like the Tao Bums is perhaps a very YIN name? Then again so is "science" a very yin concept. How does "Celestial Tao Scientists" sound? just an idea to ponder... Every single scientist in the world desires liberation from the depressing materialism. Before they die, all scientists in the world want to understand the tao of heaven. I just worry that the word "bums" is definitely closing doors which are not necessarily in other's minds, but our own.

Cool, I ordered a copy and flicked my ears. I have been having a funny energetic issue with my left ear, which vibrates sometimes - its kind of annoying. I must blame it on my unhealthy environment (living at home with parents who do not study qi gong and watch too much TV.)

Interesting and important topic. That is a good insight about Bahai! That kind of thing is well needed around the globe, although they should integrate with Taoists too! The promisies and potential pitfall of a NWO (New World Order) is something I study a lot. "Novus Ordo Seclorum" it says on our one dollard bills in the USA with the Great seal...(look at the symbolism...) This means "new secular world order" because in the future, people plan to have heart-based spiritual science. Some of these people are evil and some, like Tao bums, are good-hearted people. Overall I think everyone is good hearted and has good intentions. Here is a chart of the supposed illuminati. Doing a google of "council of 13" brings up the supposed website of an illuminati insider named Steww Webb. His website details: Well, it appears I cannot cut and paste due to security, nor copy from the pages HTML, but here is the link: Notice the last, number seven on the list is really interesting http://www.stewwebb.com/Illuminati_Council...ld%20Order.html Oh and Darin, about our TV watching parents? This is really funny and sad!

Hi all, sorry if I'm posting another sad thread after the cancer one! My GRANDmother is getting very old, 85 years old! After giving her a good book on Qi Gong called The Healer Within by Roger Jahnke, I am afraid she has lost her will to live even MORE (instead of less)! Why? Now she feels like she has been a robot her whole life. She even got mad at me for not becoming a WESTERN doc instead of studying Eastern med. When my mom got sick the other day, she did the same thing! Anyways, my Grandma is almost 85 and said this Healer Within book is "mind expanding." Now she is loosing her mind, soon hereafter. What can I do to help her? I have already admitted to myself that she will not reach physical immortality, but how can I make sure her soul is eternal? I think I need to have her read something to make her more comfortable with the process of returning to the source. Please, does anyone know what this might be? Something simple so she can go in PEACE and not suffer??? My friend mentioned Tao of Pooh earlier, and I think this is perhaps, almost perfect! This book stresses effortlessness and non-interference which is what she needs to here. She also needs to here that my path does not contradict with her life or something, but is in harmony with it because that is the truth (although I wish she reached physical immortality.) She does have money left, and can spend this. Should I tell her to meet with a Taoist healer? I think this might make things almost worse. On the other hand, I am sure the Taoist healer would have much experience with such situations and could advise as to how to proceed. This is really a weird situation. How do I strike a balance between helping her and letting go? I want to spend time with her but its really depressing for me, she is loosing her spirit. Do I need that spirit to enter me peacefully and live on, or something like this? I am working on it. Any advice? So she can deal with the bardo as a nice Christian old lady who learned about the Tao way too late? Sorry for rambling, I am going to give her Tao of Pooh tomorrow.
