Thanks for the tips dudes. I was talking with her today, and beleive it or not we had a conversation about death. At one point she said "i cannot tell you how people my age are just waiting to die" since the "prime" of their life is over, and they basically loose the will to live, lost hope, think they will die and this is the only way... we talked about cycles, rhythems, and fear vs. anticipation of death. Also, I gave her Tao of Pooh and told her that she lived longer and had a fuller life than most of humanity who do not even make it to 85. She said she has had high and low times in life, and family is the most important thing. Cheers!

Sorry to mention a sad topic, but my friend is going through chemo soon and had a testicle removed for cancer. I understand the 88th generation Taoist Priest Mr. Yuen in NYC and other Taoists help cancered people. If anyone knows of any tips, I just wanted to through this out there, in case there is anything I or my friend should know about on his behalf. peace

Thanks for the information anyone. I should not that my "friend" is actually someone I stayed away from for the past few years as I sensed really negative energy in him. I think this illustrates the legacy of medicine Buddha: he got testicular cancer and is a homosexual. I am not saying anything is wrong with that, but from the view of "laws of nature" I could see how this Tibetan Medicine view is pertaining to the case. Anyways, is anyone here familiar with Jerry Alan Johnson? He is a Qigong master Doc who specializes in cancer treatments. It seems that Jerry's work should be researched a lot more - like his work with preventing breast cancer and whatnot. Any kind of cancer! Heck, any kind of illness!!!!!!!!!! I see such a horrible rift between research and business in the qigong field.

Than you Wayfarer64, this is a very healthy conversation. When I look at Manly P Hall (wiki) I almost see an elite Taoist. He wrote the "Secret Teachings of All Ages" which tries to live up to it's title, exploring the esoteric, occult and "inner teaching"-like material of secret societies: the whole book is about alchemy. Now, you would think such a book would have a chapter on the Taoist secret teachings? That would make a lot of sense, considering Tao is perhaps the forerunner of all the other mystery traditions, no? Still, there is no exploration of this, or Buddhists Vajrayana (which I think is similar to esoteric tao in its power)! There is even a chapter on Native American mysteries - my point is that something is FISHY about hall?! Or maybe I am hallucinating? Manly P Hall is a really interesting character, he is obviously part of the "illuminati" in that he is very connected with Freemasons and such. People tend to have mixed views about the Masons due to their connections with elitism - government, religious, media, finance... you name it! Same as the SKULL AND BONES which Kerry and Bush were both members of! I feel these secret societies (and some are perhaps satanic) are incredible to learn about. On the other hand, these societies gave birth to America! Look at all the founding fathers of America? They did some great things in building up our society, even if it has major faults which we need to address in the 21st century. All the most influencial founders were Masons. Evem the layout of Washington DC is based on Masonic symbolism. Anyways, Hall reveals all kinds of esoteric secrets, he gives up all kinds of sagely wisdom for humanity. He is a prophet and prophetic, he cultivated incredible virtue (you will find, if you study and enjoy his work - at least I think so..). "White Bird of Tao" is perhaps the most Hall wrote about the Tao in one reading, but I might be wrong about that. Also there is a chapter about Lao Tsu in "12 World Teachers" and I enjoyed his book about the Pheonix. He is a prolific writer... I am psyched to listen to his prophetic lectures about the 21st century. Already, I listened to the one about "education" which I felt was incredibly enlightening. Check out www.prs.org if your interested in this stuff...but sorry if I'm getting side tracked now. Actually, I am not getting sidetracked! Hall is a scholar whose work furthers the important integration of spirituality, science and philosophy. Anyways, "tao scientists" does sound boring. On my way to a concert yesterday, I thought of "flying tao scientists." I then thought: If anyone wants to know how "flying" is related to tao or science (in my vision) we'd cite quantum physics and how it's possible to fly and be present on Earth at the same time... the holographic cosmology which "modern science" has yet to integrate fully. So, I am talking about metaphysical flying (like from the daoist call "wing point" on the back of your heart). Our quantum knowledge, even that of ancient societies is way beyond our current "advancement." This Darwinian view of society is wrong: everything happens in cycles, including "golden ages"!!! for more about what Plato calls the "Cycle of the Great Year" regarding this, a nice documentary for your viewing pleasures: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7...e+great+year%22

Highest Clarity, Supreme Oneness, Complete Perfection, Pristine Subtlety

These are very profound words (the names of sects listed above) so please take time to consider them and comment, if you feel so inclined to do so. I know I would like to meditate on these words more! -
It is REALLY easy to get caught up in the Babylon mess. Technology can help and hurt us. WATCHING TELEVISION IS HYPONOSIS. This is why they call it "programming"!!! Seriously! My parents are addicted to TV. I feel really bad about it becuase as a child, I was addicted and they told me not to watch so much. Now, I try to tell my parents but dont want to hurt their feelings. Instead, I try to tell them to study qigong. what a life!!!!!!!!

True, Im just trying to make the point that Tao is the real science, and trying to get the point accross that unfortunetly, materialistic science is the world religion right now. I feel like either we as "bums" (or whatever we are called) are going to change this or it wont be changed. I dont know... I just feel bad for the youth are stuck in science classes (learning about materialistic science) like prisoners. Meanwhile, elite Taoists spiritualy enslave everyone, and we dont awaken to the fact that we could be becoming like those elite taoists and ignoring science as we sit on our bums.

What do you mean by "medical info" such as on the ear and kidneys?
-
I feel you. Part of what prompted me on this thread was that a dude from MIT is here. I do love the name Taobums and wouldnt want anyone to get the wrong idea, but I forsee that less wise people might be turned off by bum as opposed to like idk, your right word scientist is really baggageful. Because we have been indoctrinated with false science our entire lives. Taoists are real scientists and engineers and them are just materialistic scientists.

From a taoist view, is this a legit idea? Are they suffering from leavng the penatal? And helping us return to it? The source, primordial, creator? Do taoists even see the world as suffering? Manly P hall says no, in his writings on the Tao, while Alex Anatole says Daoists do see the world as suffering. Perhaps becuase Anatole is associated with organized taoism? As in religious.

Yes? No? Maybe?

I did not know there was a difference. Now I'm wondering if Jesus Christ might be consdered a bodhi-whatever you call it.

Leaning, Embodying and practicing the MERIDIANS
GrandTrinity replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
I understand, yes...the outlines in the lesser kan and li book are pretty good for this meditation on opening them... I understand that all the points are on the surface? Not really within? But they flow within from the outside? When you mention shoulder, that is more surface level but of course relates to inner hear and lungs, triple warmer... very deep stuff. The reason I want to learn this more is to "know thyself" ...of course. -
Are you a Mason or something? What prompted you to make this distinction? If nothing else, thats fine. Are you mason? Do you consider yourself a taoist? Also, I said "What do you mean by bodhi savas have good kung fu?" Bodhi savas are pretty funny things...

Leaning, Embodying and practicing the MERIDIANS
GrandTrinity replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. My point for learning? Jus to be able to feel and work with them more fluidly in qi gong or meditation, so as to release their blockages. Like for example, if my shoulder blade is acting weird, that means I should clear out my triple warmer, eh? I find that Yang Jwing Ming's books are good, and so is Chia's Tao Yin yoga book... other resources? -
Your the one who made this distinction between masons and taoists, I am interested to see what else you know about it. I do not know much other than what Hall wrote, but its questionable if Hall was even a mason although surely he enjoyed tao. Check out the book 12 World Teachers to see his writing on tao or White Bird something from prs.org as both are very interesting. What do you mean by bodhi savas have good kung fu? I think, if I meditate on tara's eyes or chenrezig's arms it could def help my chi flow/gong fu...

Great job with this article! It is hard to know what is going on with this is China right. Perhaps many people wish to study but cannot? This gives me more motivation to cultivate stronger... very good job on important subject which really needed a clearer expounding.

know of any resources that are not do in-depth? That book is $130. Does it even use 5 element theory? -
lol satvas have good kung fu. ...Spectrum, your still being really vague!
-
I do not prefer either! If you could expound on any of this further would be nice. How do Masonic and Taoist practices differ, then? He sure sounds like a Taoist in his writing about the Tao practices - he says there is a simple breathing practice. He defends the Tao a lot as if its the closest thing to his heart, perhaps more than freemasonry? I do not know as I have studied little into his writings on freemasonry.

Anyone practice the Wu Dang orbit as taught at wudangtao.com? It is unlike what Chia or Winn teaches and very powerful and enjoyable and liberating, but certaintly builds on Chias and WInns in that you need to know the points to really do it. Very enjoyable. here is the link: http://www.wudangtao.net/wuji/meditate.html Can anyone actually do this? I can do it similar but not exactly as desribed, yet. I wonder what higher teachings are??? "Sit in a chair with feet shoulder width apart, the back straight without touching the back of the chair, both hands on the knees. Hands facing up, fold your thumb into your fist and close it. Touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of the mouth gently and close the mouth. Drop the eyelid and leave a slit of the light the eyes looking at the tip of the nose; subconsciously the eye looks at the dantien, seeing and not seeing, looking out seeing no object, look side see non-self. All you see is emptiness within emptiness, it is the void. If you see the void you are back to square one; if you identify the void, you have accomplished nothing. From the stillness rises the motion, yang chi rise, from the stillness rise the yang chi, when you have the sensation in dantien, do nothing, be an observer. When the yang chi is a like a dragon ready to fly take a deep inhalation, eyes look at the chi, mind direct it, follow the governing channel (du). From the Du channel up ascending to the heart palate, breathing out, eyes look down, mind leading chi descending in functional channel (ren). `This is called ascending yang fire, descending yin water. Total three microcosmic orbits. Then mind observing one circle without consciously breathing, repeat three times, rest one, until you reach 36 cycles totaling 108 breaths. There will be lots of phenomenon happening in the stillness, please remember to see and not see. Do nothing, let chi take its own course. Do not have any attachment to any concept. Continue diligent practice for 100 days. If you have any questions you go to consultation or to the on line class for further more advanced study."

Anyone know where to find it? I am sure it exists but where? I recently found this institute at Harvard: http://www.johnemackinstitute.org Please, I am on a serious search here! Where is the true wisdom and compassion in higher educations?

Enlightenment in higher Education?
GrandTrinity replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
Freeform, this is not exactly what I am looking for, more like programs universities with enlightened people/curriculums. However, I find this Brain Gym program extremely interesting. What else can you share about it? -
The cards suppliment the other learning, which ism ore specific, but will definetly help you if you have a foundation. I definetly support your checking out the cards, they will help make you very proficient in advanced Taoist meditation. Why are people raggiing on Mantak Chia? yes some of the books are edited poorly and that is unacceptable but I accepted it - blame it on evil babylon. Chia rocks! Anyone want to diss Chia? Yes his teachings take too long to study and are too expensive, but other than that he is the only one teaching them, these advance formulas.
