So this image shows that the Spinal Cord ends at the door of life. Very interesting! I guess the Kanda would equate with the door of life/hara/tantien. The kundalini, we say, is at the root of the spine, this are I consider from the adrenal point through the cocycx. Subtle anatomy is very enlightening!!!!! It begs for more attention.

I agree, talking is overated. When arising from within the tao it is good, but it has to be Wu Wei! Not talking is the essence of the tao, sit in silence god damnit! In school the drill this in kids heads, sit and dont move! If only they also taught them how to use chakras/subtle energy meditations? Perhaps attention deficit disorder could disapear?

The Healer Within By Roger Jahnke
GrandTrinity replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
Am I the only one here who read this? The points it gives about reflexology and self massage are worth the price of it alone...the only like 5 qigong moves it shows are very well thought out so that if this was one's only practice theyd have a very nice chi flow. It can be done by the young or old. Meditation, he equates with relaxation, and uses the words interchangably. Jahnke has set up clinics in China and American, he really is a master, an OMD or doc of oriental meds. I think he could have made the breathing practices slightly more taoist, but he purposely cut out most of the taoist influence and terminology in order to appeal to a wider audiance, balance. Therefore Neimad, I think youd enjoy this one! He did a great job, realizing that with any art (esp. self health maintence/super wellness) there is infinite room for improvement. This is really an "integral" work for those of you who are fans of Ken Wilber and such, he talks about how independance breeds more interdependance, much food for thought! When he was accepted to work on accupuncture at a clinic with an Osteopath, the only way the head of the clinic would accept him is if he MASSAGED ALL THE PATIENTS FEET first thing when theyd come in! What a lesson to a budding accupuncurist! Imagine if all of them did this? The book covers abdominal massage briefly but well, an imporant part of qigong practice in my reckoning! As it helped to bring very powerful healing, he observed, as he taught them, also, to massage their own hands and EARS (resmebeling reflexology style). Turns out that massaging the ears changes the brain chemisty due to their strong linkage with the chi flow in the briain (and subsequiently, the rest of the body.) Two thumbs up for Jahnke! Now that I more deeply and diligantly massage my hands, feet and ears and incorperate some of his breathing techniques, movements, self massage and even meditation hints (this guy has studied it all, a real shaman) I feel my blood and chi flow is much stronger! Jahnke does a stellar job at connecting qigong to modern science, commenting a lot about lymph (clears out toxins) and other biological processes. Everyone needs peice of mind, and Jahnke's vision incorperates that physical and mental paradigm of the holistic "revolution" that people desire, most essentialy in these modern times. In my observation, the age of industry has lead to the age of information and now we are headed for a golden age. This is really not debateable. With access to more information people can educate and maintan/self heal themselves with ease. He points out multiple times that 70% of disease is curable according to the Amaerican National Inst. of Health statistics! Think about the trillion dollars spent on health care and drugs per year? Perhaps all that can be re-routed into the holistic market as more people awaken...but the medicine within is really just free (for the most part, we do need training...books and tapes work but take longer.) Interestingly, Jahnke neglects to mention nutrition/diet/food in his work. Another point Id like to make is that he was rather repetative, the book was geared towards the widest audance as opposed to experienced qigongers, although those in the former group definetly could learn a bunch from this text. I think because he was trying to appeal to the widest audiance, nonetheless, props to Jahnke! I beleive he has written what will be considered a "classic" here. -
Whats the scoop with Plato's book? Worth the 25$ and time to read it? kING kONG?

http://www.wie.org/j21/white.asp "In the Judeo-Christian tradition, it is called "the resurrection body " and "the glorified body." The prophet Isaiah said, "The dead shall live, their bodies shall rise" (Isa. 26:19). St. Paul called it "the celestial body" or "spiritual body " (soma pneumatikon) (I Corinthians 15:40). In Sufism it is called "the most sacred body " (wujud al-aqdas) and "supracelestial body " (jism asli haqiqi). In Taoism, it is called "the diamond body," and those who have attained it are called "the immortals" and "the cloudwalkers." In Tibetan Buddhism it is called "the light body." In Tantrism and some schools of yoga, it is called "the vajra body," "the adamantine body," and "the divine body." In Kriya yoga it is called "the body of bliss." In Vedanta it is called "the superconductive body." In Gnosticism and Neoplatonism, it is called "the radiant body." In the alchemical tradition, the Emerald Tablet calls it "the Glory of the Whole Universe" and "the golden body." The alchemist Paracelsus called it "the astral body." In the Hermetic Corpus, it is called "the immortal body " (soma athanaton). In some mystery schools, it is called "the solar body." In Rosicrucianism, it is called "the diamond body of the temple of God." In ancient Egypt it was called "the luminous body or being" (akh). In Old Persia it was called "the indwelling divine potential" (fravashi or fravarti). In the Mithraic liturgy it was called "the perfect body " (soma teilion). In the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, it is called "the divine body," composed of supramental substance.

Cool Wudang Qigong on google video

Oh yeah I'm all about the sweet nectar (kechari mudra/amrit)... One teacher said to me when that sweet nectar flows there is no way you can test it and find a sugary substance scientificly, its just not the issue... Of course the fact that it activate all the "rest and digest" (as opposed to "flight or fight") parasympathetic system is still a good subject for research perhaps... Right now I am studying this stuff full time through a college which gives me freedom to design my own learning, now that I am able to document/be more grounded in my learning... As that same teacher said, a member of the HT board Lama Michael Cornelious: Enlightenment and college degrees are a winning combo.... -
hhmm that rmax powered qigong is prett good I'd suspect. I think we do need to be critical of the so called "guru" as the internal guru is the only one that really matters in the end. Learning how to access that internal guru more/all of the time is essential to progress. I think the more ground we over individuals and as a group, the more internal and global power we gain. I think it is time to weed out the weeklings so to speak and be critical of "gurus" and praise the ones who are doing something good, such as setting up a aplan for world peae and undergoing the rigors of scientific research. The power of "breath exersize" qigong, kriya, mind-body awarness really does have the power to bring the 4th density (transcendance of time...) to all humans on the Earth now, it is a matter of finding and applying the techniques that work. And respecting the sacred feminine! Woo woo!

Agreed. I am all about the fusing of these Eastern doctrines with Western science. What can be weeded out that is useful on a physial level? On a heart level? Whatever. On a mental level? sure...but on a scientific level it is all good. Nietche (hiwever u spell him) said "science is the tree of knowledge of good and evil" in the Anti-Christ. Take for example the TM movement, they are using science as proof their system works. I think this is on the right track.

http://www.roaringlionpublishing.com/store...egory_Code=PTX2 Anyone have an opinion on this accupoint locator? How about Peter Granger? I noticed he is very well like by the Ken Cohen camp. Did you know Cohen has a falling out with his own mother? LOL! Also, anyone try out Dr. Sha's stuff, from the free videos on there, it looks pretty good from the free vids? Well, there is sooooooo many qigong systems, I just want to learn them all! I guess that is unhealthy in a way, but also leading to the best health!? We shall see!

EMAIL FROM YAUN: "Hi Jake: I teach students individually during class, to personalize each one's practice. Then each student practices on their own. Right now, there are about 10 students. We'll be putting some pictures of the rooms soon. The rooms can have an internet line. But there's also an internet bar downstairs. Master Yuan" -
I dont know, thought it'd be fun... good point about digging the well.

I whole-heartedly agree! However, I envision a more comprehensive qigong library where we can get access to all the wisdom, that would be sweet! Not that I desire it or anything, but itd be sweet!
