  3. Is this uncomfortable sensation chi-related?

Massage your neck at the base of the skull so that the energy can go downwards, Do some self acupressure, make sure the channels are clear and make sure you collect the energy of whatever you are doing at the navel. practice grounding and rooting. Thats what works for me
  4. Thanks alot that is great info! But I am still lost. What is the exact sequence? I would assume that you run the microcosmic orbit, then macrocosmic, the belt channel then thrusting channel. It seems that would that be a good sequence? For some reason he puts the macrocosmic orbit after the belt and thrusting channles in the book.
  5. Buddhism transcends the Tao

what a freaking mind trip! do you realize how in your head this whole conversation is? Guys stop thinking so much about this. It has been said "no size fits all" Need anything more be said? I mean Really? All the best
  6. I think even addults can get alot form it. If you have watched the WHOLE series then you know it can definatley give adults alot aswell. It won a grammy! Mot of the people who watch the show are adults anyway.
  7. Hey this may sound weird but the animated television series The Avatar is freaking amazing! Trust me. It is very philosophical and taoist/buddhist. They basically Bend elements (water, fire, earth, air) The thing is that each bending style is based on a martial art. Water is Chen tai chi, Air is bagua, Fire is shaolin, Earth is hung gar. Very accurate depictions of the styles! there is a war between the fire nation and the other 3 nations. The avatar is th eonly person who can master the 4 elements. But Its also humerous and filled with lessons. It also has mention and aspects of Chi, dim mak, chakras, meditation, yin and yang, gurus and alot more. Very interesting insights on the elements and how they fucntion/interact with us and between themselves! Buddhist philosophy is there aswell. I woulkd have to say the most complte show i have ever seen on asian Energetics/philosophy. It is very fullfliiling to watch. It also won a grammy. One of the few if any animated series to do such a thing. great show i suggest everyone here take the time to watch the whole series!
  8. Raw meat

Well I totally agree, why are plants any less diserving of life than animals? Plants have comple nervous systems and have complex responses to stimuli. If you start killing plants the one's around it will respond and will rember who it was that did the killing. Its quite egotistical to validate a specific type of life because its more like us (animals) and to discount life that is different than us. Also if you want to not kill anything thing then you should die because just the act of being alive kills billions of bacteria, so they dont kill you. that is the reality if you want to live something must die. Vegan diets are not anymore spiritual because they exclude the animal. This whole idea is obsolete. What about the karma from the billions of bacteria? or the gardener? Its more baout how the animal lives (grass fed, free range, pasture, wild) ect than about how it dies as all things are meant to die AND ALL THINGS HAVE THERE PLACE IN NATURE AND DEATH IS A REALITY.
  9. The Peaceful Warrior has a real zen touch to it. Conversation With God is a nice spiritual movie. The Celistine Prophecy (movie) seems to be about Immortality with a very taosit spin in the end.
  10. Just wondering what practices people are doing? Also wondering the How and why of your practice?
  11. What is a good breakfast for a TaoBum?

  13. TAI CHI KNEE

Hey does anyone here know how to remedy this problem. I have funky knees as it is and when i try tai chi they hurt, which sucks becuase dammit i want to do tai chi. Going to a teacher is not an option om learning from a david dorian ross dvd. i have tried chen tai chi and that hurts even more, Bagua circle walking doesnt feel to good. It looks like I cant practice any of the internal arts unless someone can tell me how to remedy this issue. Thanks everyone
  14. You know it seems like a large part of daosim has a large amount of female as opposed to male symbology. http://www.adishakti.org/_/tao_te_ching_do...l_the_while.htm
  15. Taoism and the feminine divine

It is balance, Better yet intergration. Intergration is a more balanced type of balance. In symbology there are things that are excepted a true among virtually all symbologist. That is that str8 lines are male and ANY type of curved line is female. Now what does that mean of the yin and yang symbol? Any thoughts?
  16. Buddhism transcends the Tao

That is SO taoist of you to say! I completley agree
  17. Taoism and the feminine divine

Dude it was not an interpretation but an observation, not femanism just seems like alot of feminine qualities in daoism. whos the female you talking about? Im a guy and why are you so condasending as to call me a silly girl who thinks im mystical?
  18. TAI CHI KNEE

Well yeah what do you mean sit properly? Can you describe it? Also its a dvd or nothing for me and I have been really i mean really wanting to get into an internal daoist for a while now so, I got to try. The martial arts have been a passion from when a kid.
  19. TAI CHI KNEE

Thank you! It seems like bagua with a shorter step and higher kua may not be to hard on the knee?
  20. Buddhism transcends the Tao

I think the last two post a coorect this topic does not even make sense. There are few ultimates just different shades of the same color. Also a large part of daoism is immortality/longevity not really freedom from samasara. Also why cant we turn this around and say that taoism trandsends Buddhism "because they teach the same thing right"? . It can also be said that it is more practical and gives a road map for acheiving immortalty instead of "hoping" for feedom from samsara, it addresses the health of the body and teaches us to intergrate our primal/sexual selves as oppose to denying it. Buddism can be very "go against, deny" With many aspects as oppose to taoism which is more ready to "intergrate". We could say all that but reallly what is the point, each spiritual path has something to offer. And in reality no one is for sure on what the ultimate truth is, so we all must explore the mystery as individuals. Also taoism does not end and begin with the dao de jing, so relying on it so much to compare the two is not really warranted. All the best Ramon
  21. the hidden meaning of relationships

What is true humilty anyway? Are we just going to assume we know?
  22. Joint Replacement and Qi Cultivation?

my knees are still not great but are stable. this guy is amazing with knees, you may not need the surgery. I do not follow this program but I do do ALOT of whta he preaches and boy does it work. The knee is pretty funny, it is usaully not the knee that is the reason behing the pain and dysfunction, but the hip and ankle the ones tha are usually dysfunctional and then that puts extra stress and the knee and causes it to ware out. You wont get vary far if you focus on the knee, its what around it that more than likely is causing the problem. He is very respected in the field of corrective exercise and getting people back to 100%. You have nothing to lose by trying. http://bulletproofknees.com/ This is his blog http://www.robertsontrainingsystems.com/

  24. Taoism and the feminine divine

Nah hey I just thought the whole thing was kind of cool thats all! I find alot this kind of stuff cool. Its hard to deny the huge amount of feminine symbology in taoism.
  25. 115 year old bagua practitioner

I know I know this is an old post but I thought it was kind of cool! Hey does anyone know what type of bagua this is? He is not sliding across the floor nor is he sunken to low, the movements are not to deep (stance) it seems like I could practice that without knee pain. Many of the styles I have seen look like they place some stress there. I ask because a teacher IS NOT AN option for me. so just wondering
