  1. Advices for evening meditation

Should I point one index finger to the other one ? sorry but I don't really understand even though looks quite simple... Interesting stuff the connective tissue tensegrity. thx
  2. Advices for evening meditation

I cannot learn also tai ji (unfortunately); I'd like to follow some bagua classes but didn't find a good school in berlin yet. I'd like to learn the five animal frolics, do you know some good (and maybe free) resources ? I'm already doing the microcosmic orbit and some healing sounds. I'll also try the bed practice, sounds good, thx. even your exercise sounds interesting. just a question: which hand should I use to point the index finger ?
  3. Cold hands during practice

I also think that yang food would be a good thing. I also need some spleen and heart qigong - your advices look sensible to me, thx @Iskote: relaxation is a subject, I'm going every day a little bit more into it, I need time Updates will follow.
  4. Give up smoking

thanks, I was surprised too. When you learn to "redirect" your energy it's really great I give up at the same time with marijuana too, I was addicted as with tobacco - every day, many joints. The first two weeks I slept very little, but I went ahead doing a lot of qigong and kung fu for burning the surplus energy and balance this unbalanced desire. Actually I just practiced actionless-action, watching my feelings and my desire everytime I wanted to smoke a sigarette or a joint - I've just noticed that I didn't really want to do that; on the contrary I noticed it was just a way to hide what I really wanted, to destroy some energy because you don't know (stress, socially relationship) or don't want to deal (bad feelings) with it. I'm actually far way more relaxed and my mind is clearer since I don't smoke. I hope this post can be helpful for anybody that wants to give up smoking. The most important thing is to do it consciounsly: if you wanna smoke it, do it, but do it with awarness.
  5. Cold hands during practice

eheh, no problem - the qigong practice also healed that point Anyway, maybe it's just deficiency in the kidneys, but as far as I feel I don't think so. But some kidney qigong will give me the best answer thx
  6. Advices for evening meditation

Good advice and good video. Always good to discover new stuff. Walking and sitting meditation are perfect for the evening. Anyway the problem where my feelings, but I didn't realize. Cheers and good night
  7. Cold hands during practice

hi drewhempel, usually I don't drink coffee, just occasionaly. I mainly drink green tea since a lot of years: that's what it has taken me to qigong and kung fu. In the morning I drink low caffeine tea (bancha or kukicha), because I'm already awake without caffeine. I use no sugar at all, and I eat very little sweet stuff, just some self-made marmelade (with sugar) on the bread every morning. anyway, thank you for your post
  8. Give up smoking

Hi all, after one month without smoking (cigarettes and joints at the same time) I can really say that I succeed - and it was easier than I thought, my addiction now it's just qigong The advice that really worked with me, was the easiest, scottys: Smt very simple, but I've never thought about it.... It was also a step forward for my qigong meditation and the starting point to work with my feelings! Thank you Scotty! But also thank you everybody: every person is different and has different experiences, what works for someone, doesn't for someone else. Breath&peace
  9. Cold hands during practice

I actually feel good when I practice, and my qigong is going better in different meanings: better posture, I'm more relaxed, kung fu also is going better. Lately I've eaten a lot of yin food(vegetables and fruits) in order to "clean up" a little my body and less starch, that I use to eat a lot - maybe could be a reason... That sounds good, I'll try for sure, thx for the tip ok, I can try that. Anyway I usually just open the window for 5-10 minutes then close it and afterwards I start practising I'm practising since almost one year, both kung fu and qigong. qigong everyday, kung fu 3 times a week. I can say that I'm rooted and alignment - of course still a long way in front of me, but I feel like I have a good basis now. Anyway I still practicing some alignment work, especially for kung - just standing in sei pin ma or mapu position, breathing in the dan tien for 10 minutes. What do you mean when you say that I have to close the Zhan Zhuang posisition ? you mean put the foots together and hands on the dan tien ? about the shoulder blockage, I've worked on it since may and since september is really better - still smt to do, but now my back is straight even when I work at the computer That's what I practice regularly: - eight brocades - medical and taoist exercise of the book "qigong empowerment", I began with the taoist exercises then lately I'm doing the organ related exercise so I also started to work with my feelings; next step will be the fusion of the 5 elements - I know it's already a lot, but it's a good thing to have a path in front of you - so wai qigong that I learn at the kung fu school - standing position and dissolving blockades from the book "Opening the energy gates of your body" - next step will be to move Maybe I put too much stuff, but I feel really better since I'm doing it. Two events that could be related: - Two weeks ago I had a strong cold after I quit smoking one month ago - it was one week cold, I cannot remember such a strong one. I think it was a way of "put out all the shit" of my body. Now I feel really better and stronger. - I use to have a lot of insomnia before and at the beginning of my kung fu and qigong practice. Now it's almost disappeared, but two nights ago happened again, even though I was really relaxed. I'm trying to watch and understand my feelings at the moment, so it was smt that I've just accepted and observed, a possibility to better understand me. Thank you again for your precious help, my practice is going further also because of this forum and the great people that are here! peace & awareness
  10. Cold hands during practice

thank you for your answers. As I practice since not that long, I was worried about doing smt wrong, even though I feel really relaxed since I'm doing qigong and especially when I do it I'll keep practicing and let you know if it changes. Are there some special qigong exercise to warm up the hands ? could be a better solution instead of energically rubbing my hands at the end of the exercise session
  11. Advices for evening meditation

thank you for the advices! @durkhrod chogori: thanks for the video, I've also check http://www.sirimangalo.org and it's quite interesting. Walking meditation is also included in the book Qigong Empowerment, but I've never done yet - right moment to start I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers and freedom
  12. Advices for evening meditation

ok, I'll try to sit down and still: I can do that but for me it's difficult to stop the thinking mind without movements. I just have to try harder, thank you for the tip! Love and emptyness
  13. Hi all, I'm practising qigong in the last months, in different ways: medical, meditation, wushu and sexual. Everything quite fine, because of my good kung fu teacher and because of this forum In the last days I've got a strong cold, my nose was really closed. I practiced some acupressure to speed up the recovery. Last night and two nights ago I had wet dreams: It never happen to me since I practice kung fu and qigong. I usually do male deer exercise, big draw and testicle breathing. I didn't do these exercise in the last days because I didn't feel like. I'm not that worried about my nocturnal ejaculation, but I would like to better understand why it never happen until now that I'm ill... maybe because the cold created a block around my head and nose ? Every idea is welcome Thanks
  14. Flu and nocturnal emission

that would make sense, as my illness is a moment of expelling (mainly through the nose), I had this wet dreams that apparently was not sexually related - I actually didn't feel tired after that, and I'm recovering. thank you for the answer. Other points of view are appreciated.
  15. marijuana and taoist meditation.

I used to be a tabac and marijuana smoker since a long time, about 12 years. Two weeks ago I gave up both, was kind of spontaneous after some months of kung fu, qigong and meditation. The main problem was addiction and not experience: if you wanna smoke, do it, but try to understand every slightly effect; afterwards try to understand what do you want from it and why. Start qigong or other form of meditation, and then you'll keep smoking or stop it consequently. As the Tao te ching says: taking no action, order wil prevail Cheers
  16. I totally agree with you Scott: even though I mainly buy organic food, I think it's also good to have "bad" things sometimes. It's how our world is, and it's good remember yourself about it. But do it sensible, as Scott suggested, listen your body and how do you feel. @More_Pie_Guy: I didn't wanna say that your information is useless, I just mean: we don't have to take this information like the bible. Cheers and enjoy your meals
  17. Bao Ding Balls

I'm also a beginner at rotating Bao Ding Balls. @Moon Knight: can you please tell us the page of the book about the bao ding balls ? I can take in a library, and I would like to read that pharagraph - and maybe afterwards I'll also read the entire book. Thank you and have fun with rotating
  18. Give up smoking

Thank you people for your advices, I'll try to do my best with them. I'm doing hung gar kung fu three times a week , and it helps. @Blasto: I'm 30 since yesterday, maybe it's the exact time to give up I'll tell you how's going. Cheers
  19. Hi, I'm reading tao te ching in german, in a Richard Wilhelm translation. Now I'd like to have also an english version of this book and an english translation of chuang tzu writings. Can you advice me some good editions ? I know that there are a lot, that's why I ask you which ones are good Also a book that contains these books and other taoist writings would be welcome Cheers and tao
  20. Hi, I'm reading the book 'qigong empowerment' and I've found it really good. I just don't understand some exercise: the first ones of the taoist qigong, says to draw out your abdomen when you exhale and to draw it in when you inhale - can someone explain me why ? I thought that the correct breathing was the opposite, pulling out the abdomen when you inhale and pulling it in when you exhale... thanks in advance for explaination tao & beats
  21. qigong empowerment question

thank you all for the clarifying answers. I actually regulary practice some kung fu, and we also do some qigong - eventhought not that much. Since two months I've started some qigong session alone. I've read quite good reviews about 'Qigong Empowerment', and I've also liked the different point of view - healing, taoism, buddism and wushu. Anyway I also have Spring Forest, and I'll try to compare the two books thank you again, any other advice, idea, opinion is welcome!
  22. qigong empowerment question

I've actually already read in the forum about reverse breathing, and I've known also the possible problems. That's why I asked some explanation in this thread: I don't understand why this section of the book starts with a reverse breathing technique, without even mention it. is there anyone who read the book and can explain me why it uses this method ? thx
  23. IRC chat for TaoBums

Hey! Great idea! I like freenode and it's right place for TaoBums. Anyway would be better if the LiveChat and this irc chat, would be connected: I mean, one chat would be the best solution See you on TaoBums chat channel Cheers
