I usually have a tepid shower after my kung fu lesson and then I turn to cold water(just for one minute or even less): it's quite a shock but after that you feel great If you're in good health just try it out

which edition of "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine" and 'The Web that has no Weaver' do you suggest ?

In the last month I experienced a lot of dandruff, as if my liver unbalanced, even though I don't eat shit. I'm not an angry person, maybe even too much sometimes Anyway I experienced a lot of anger when I was living with my parents. One month ago I stayed for two weeks at my parents home and afterwards I experienced dandruff and quite the same dream about me getting angry with my family, and exchanging that anger between us (as we actually did in the past). I felt it like a setting-free of that stucked anger, that is good, but on the other side the same dream comes again. The same happened the months before with the kidneys, both physically and emotionally - I've actually realized it just today. And this path makes sense (what a chance...) with the generative path of the five elements: Water creates/nourishes Wood Wood nourishes Fire Fire creates Earth (ash) Earth creates (contains) Metal Metal collects (contains) Water So now I ask your opinion about my experience: do you think that this interpretation makes sense ? Any suggestion about specific practice ? At the moment I do 3 times a week kung fu, every morning some qigong with movement (mainly Spring forest 1&2 or Ba duan jin), every evening cross-legged meditation (MCO and emptyness). Cheers

hi, sometimes I do 6 healing sounds and since 10 days I'm following the advice of EternalStudent: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/13346-tension-at-jade-pillow-gate/page__view__findpost__p__171595 it's very easy but effective meditation, combined with MCO. That's it, maybe I should start reading The Fusion of the five elements

yeah, here in berlin too... anyway thanks Biff for the good tip, I'll try next full moon How did you spleep last night ? I did Moon meditation of Chunyi Li and was very nice (as always); then I went to bed and woke up spontaneously at 6:15 (here was fool moon at 7:15), meditated at full moon time and didn't get to sleep until 8: a lot of energy that I was not able to handle, a lot of crazy dreams, but still I'm slowly improving Cheers
-
what do you mean with full moon water ?
-
yeah, and maybe not posting 4 times in a row Very nice energy from the moon these days, have noticed ? So bright meditation for everyone Cheers

Hi, I've found this five elements test on the internet: http://www.yuliqigong.com/Five_el_Test.html Obviously is nothing precise, but can be indicative of our personality. It would be nice if everyone of us does the test and post here the result: then we can discuss how to balance ourselves Here's my points: 13 Wood, 27 Water, 9 Fire, 9 Metal, 26 Earth. I actually have too much water and earth, I already know it before the test, so no surprise. On the other side I can see that maybe I have to reduce earth and water and not increase my fire and metal, as I used to think. Any advice do decrease water and earth is welcome Have a good test Cheers

Thx for the tip, I'll look into it

Hi taomeow, thanks for your contribution, everyone was looking forward it Of course the test is nothing scientific or precise, but can help us to show a tendence of our personality: I wrote it at the beginning of the thread, but it's good to underline it. Another important thing that you noticed, it's that you can recognize an imbalance, but not the relation between the different elements: that's actually really important and cannot be understand just through a test. Anyway we are meeting on a forum and our position is exactly like the one of the blind TCM practitioner that you descbribed, maybe plus a lot of links and information - still we can try to understand us better, sharing our knowledge. Cheers

hey Boris, I've just seen your tea: great stuff! I love green and pu-erh tea, but sometimes I appreciate oolong too. Difficult to help you - don't you have a name on the can or a photo of the tea ? Otherwise is very hard to say...
-
I actually started this thread for finding an answer together, as I'm not fully able to get the meaning just by myself: taobums should be the perfect place for this discussion So post your results, your questions, your expectations. I actually should decrease water and earth - it makes sense for my person, I have to get in touch with my emotions and I think too much.

Thanks for the video. I'm practicing Hung gar kung fu, and we do too some of this body conditioning and qigong, even though not that strong The instructional video stuff on the web looks very interesting too!

Hi, lately I've noticed some tension at Jade pillow gate, the area around Fengfu DU-16 and Naohu DU-17. It's actually nothing so bad, I'm doing every morning spring forest 1&2 active exercises and sitting meditation (half lotus). I'm building balanced energy, and I've learned to move the heat from the lower dan tien, to the heart and latetly I'm trying to concentrate to the third eye area - still I always balance with some heart and lower dantien focus. Last night, I woke up at 6 o'clock and I couldn't sleep; so I used some acupressure in the Jade pillow gate area, as I learned from the book Acupressure's Potent Points against insomnia. In little time I felt asleep. While I meditate, I suddenly feel my head out of place, the chin is not drawn back: I immediatly correct it. On the other side I've always have dandruff, even though I eat quite well, I do sports and I'm not experiencing anger or stress. Maybe someone can find some sensible connections with these happenings and give good advices, I hope so Cheers

I've got the pdf version of Deadman's manual: it's great Cheers
-
hi drew, can you give me more explanation about the use of Cayenne and the situation that I've described ? thx
-
You have some, and not just in this area. Here's the list in the order given by Acupressure's Potent Points : B38, P6, H7, B10, GV16, GB20, CV17 and GV24.5(third eye) I've tried to find a correspondence on http://www.acuxo.com/ but it doesn't work with some points (like P6) - anyone knows why ? here's a link for some point that I didn't find on acuxo: http://www.holisticonline.com/remedies/Anxiety/anx_acupressure.htm The book says that you have to press the point for one minute, while you breath deeply and with the belly. You don't need all the points to relieve insomnia: just try out which one work best for you ... and have a nice sleep

ok, thank you for the advice, I've tried yesterday night and was nice: the energy is overall balanced and I feel confortable with it. I'll keep doing it for some time and then tell you back. What's the name of the system you learned ?
-
Thank you for you answers. It can be that my kidney energy has not been refined yet, but I practice kung fu 3 times a week and that's a good way to build kidney energy - but yep, refine it's another subjet. I don't know exactly what do you mean with external and internal source of energy. I know about the complexity and the specific training for every case, that's why I'm looking for a good master - maybe I've found one, I don't know yet. I do them sometimes, maybe I'll try to exercise them again. I usually do spring forest 1&2 active exercises in the morning, I was thinking that they are a good substitute of the 6 healing sounds. Anyway, I'll just try for some time and give you feedback. Thx!

It's exactly one of the points that I massaged tonight and relieved me from not sleeping. It's one of points that the book recommends in order to relieve insomnia, that was one of my main aliments and now is quite disappeared practicing qigong. I've read that that point is connected with wind too, and actually my skin is often dry, even though I drink a lot of water, eat well and little salt. Maybe I should massage it every evening... Thank you Trunk I actually started to move the energy to the heart because that great heat in the lower dan tien and kidney was unconfortable, especially at night, I was really drying ( I had nocturnal emission too without any other reason...). Anyway, I probably have to concentrate more and learn to handle the energy of every single organ, maybe doing more meridian self acupressure as Trunk suggested in one of his post. Two questions: - which area is the yellow palace ? third eye ? - should I "move" the heat and energy that I feel to every organ, where I want to meditate and just stay there ? Or move the energy around the channel's organ and at the end massage the channel, like I do with the governing and conception vessels ? Thx
-
do you mean the last part, where you bounce on the feet ? Could be, maybe I should be more determined - thanks for the tip, Qigong Empowerment is my favourite book about qigong
-
ok, I'll try to massage the liver channel and do some liver qigong and then report the results - thx for the tip
