  1. Mind and the Brain

    Yes.
  2. Why?

Ah! That's a very nice response. I like this. Though... just straightening my spine and sitting erect is fine enough, due to the fact that I physiologically can't get into full lotus. I guess some bad karmas play in there somewhere. My Hindu teacher praised full lotus as the supreme posture, but said you can attain enlightenment merely through direct and clear cognition of the nature of things, no matter what physical position.
  3. Why?

    Awesome!
  4. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Excellent! You can use me in your next discussion on neurotic reactions and psychological avoidance of the main point.
  5. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

You do not understand the experiential meaning of dependent origination, so you don't know what I mean when I say that these are all empty of inherent existence so have no weight of bondage. So no, I do not suffer from any of your projections.
  6. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Wow... I was just making a statement about myself. Everything I say is a form of neurosis for you. Should I admit I'm wrong for who's sake? I don't feel I'm wrong so why should I say that I'm wrong. I've apologized for making insults before. But, I don't find the Buddhas point of view wrong at all. In fact, I find most other traditional point of views wrong in certain ways. That's me... deal with it, or ignore me.
  7. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Wow... very stupid conjecture. Very paranoid I might add. I was not talking about any of this. I was talking about having a set of goals. Having a lineage of Guru's. The things specifically spoken about in the post I quoted. Even having a spiritual ego is a step in the process. Not starting wars, genocide, torture, etc. These are your paranoid ideas about my posts that reflect an absolute refusal to understand the points of view I've posited. A total refusal to step outside of ones own paranoid projections and objections about religion and an absolute lack of objective reading. You subject me to your own hate for religion every time you read my posts. Put me on ignore! Sheesh!! Songs is way less annoying than you are and I'm not easily annoyed.
  8. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Actually... To tell you the truth. I'm quite clean! I like to have everything tidy. Just like my philosophy and spirituality.
  9. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

You too... BOOO! I'm sooo scary!!!
  10. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

All these originate dependently and are empty of inherent existence so have no inherent power of bondage. Even if on a practical level, much of this may be needed at one point or another during an individual mind-streams development.
  11. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

But... Songs, you are the one reacting so harshly. Why so affected?
  12. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I'm feeling compassion inside me when I write. Sometimes great joy and a sense of freedom as well. So, let your reactions be your reactions. You'll find that greatly empowering.
  13. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

    Maybe siblings.
  14. Why?

The reason I took up practice was due to the dissatisfaction with the answers to life's questions given by popular society. "Who am I?", "What am I?", "What is all this?", "Why all this?", "What is death?".
  15. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

It's funny how personally everyone takes an opposing view. I say one little thing, like pulling one rock out of a damn. Wow! Have a fun time!
  16. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

You are right. I do have a hard time speaking directly to peoples capacity, even though there are so many different people reading here. So many, as the Buddha said, just don't have the capacity to understand the Buddhas teachings. Which is why I just said a little something to begin with. But... Songs couldn't just leave it be. So, I didn't leave it be either. If Songs hasn't yet understood my, Xabir or your posts, or the links we have given him as of yet? I think anymore talking with Songs about Buddhism is hopeless at this point. He should just let that be the truth of it and put me on ignore. His capacity for being annoyed is quite unequaled though!
  17. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Sure I have, endlessly. EDIT: Actually... because you don't understand the Buddhas teachings is just so. I wish you the best!

Taking up an experience as proof of an ultimate and self standing existence is considered a clinging and the actual seed to re-becoming through future lives of ignorance. This ignorance is very deep and subtle. The Buddha subverts this very deep and subtle attachment to an ultimate existence deep within the mind-stream through his awakened insight of dependent origination/emptiness as well as his explanation of the 8 jhanas and the 31 realms associated with the different stages of meditative absorption. This insight is not in alignment with the mysticism of Theists or Monism of any type.
  20. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Who is force proving? Other people are stating their views and I'm stating the Buddhas. If it pushes your buttons, then check the wiring of those buttons, they are causing the owner of these buttons bondage.
  21. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

You're pretty angry. Ooo... more super anger. I just see a true liberation. I see that Nisargadatta has a high view, it's just not perfectly clear is all. P.S. I have noticed something about you Songs. You are very easily annoyed.
  22. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

So many have tried here, but without direct intuitive experience the descriptions might escape you. Basically, it shows that there is not a transcendent of phenomena, there is only the insight into the empty nature of phenomena, so it's more grounded and makes no excuses for ignorance as in, "It's God's will", or, "God made me this way", or "It's beyond thought and our capacity to understand", etc. It shows that things don't come from a causeless cause and all other paths describe a causeless cause that is mysterious and beyond our ability to understand. Most paths teach independent origination and that this transcendent all "thing/non-thing" is both the alpha and omega of all things so we should surrender to it. The Buddha doesn't insult the human capacity with such mystic ignorance.

First of all the Brit's are the ones who lumped it all together. There are many definitions and from some, Buddhism could even be considered Hinduism as a tradition from India. But, most consider Hinduism any path that takes the Vedas and Upanishads as shruthi (revealed truth) and since Buddhism doesn't do that, then it's not Hinduism. I don't think Jainism or Sikhism can be considered Hindu due to this fact as well, even though they believe much as the Hindu's believe that there is one god that all things are an emanation of. Basically Hinduism comes under a few categories; Dvaita, Advaita and VishishtAdvaita. After that it gets rather complicated with the Sampradayas.
  24. Shaktipat

What extent do I practice what? Siddha Yoga? I grew up my entire life in the lineage of Swami Muktananda then Gurumayi and I got Shaktipat at Shree Muktananda Ashram in 89'. I lived in the Ashram from 95' to 99' and right near the one in Oakland off and on throughout many years as well, going to it every morning and night to do the practices there. I know and knew many wonderful people who lived at the Ashram for 30 or more years who saw it all and know what's what and who's who and know when people are pulling rabbits out of their hats and when people are just confused, or mistaken in their understanding. I read all the derogatory stuff and asked lots of questions about it because I wanted to know the truth and not be under any sort of false ideals about this path. I uncovered a lot. I'm satisfied. Muktananda and Gurumayi deserve my utmost respect. I've experienced too much beauty through their writings and presence, both internally and externally to doubt their validity. I've seen too many people transformed for the better through their path as well, like night and day in the most miraculous ways to doubt the power of the path.
