question about nonduality and sex
Vajrahridaya replied to Old Man Contradiction's topic in General Discussion
Some of the best hands to be in, during life and after! -
LeonBasin, You might like to start out with getting advice from E-Sangha in the Mahayana section as there are a few who consider themselves Toaist Zensters or Taoist Chansters. Your hardly going to get much good advice on Buddhism in this board. Though you already did get some good advice. This book answers many questions from a perspective of many traditions. It has a good rating on Amazon too... Essence of Buddhism Buddhism for Beginners by Thubten Chodron Also if you are really interested in Zen... check this out. Also, read the ratings on it. The Three Pillars of Zen If you want to know more about Chinese Buddhism or the tradition that pre-dates Zen called Chan in China... Check this out! Attaining the Way: A Guide to the Practice of Chan Buddhism

It seems to be a mix between Taoism, Buddhism and theism. It's kind of an odd way of mixing it though. The main teacher seems to have a huge idea about himself.

No, that's Television your talking about. Well, I don't know about the best, but it's darn good advice... that's for sure.

The Last Lama Warrior: The Secret Martial Art of Tibet
Vajrahridaya replied to Jedi777's topic in General Discussion
I'm pleased to say that after getting the book today, that it's mostly a Vajrayana philisophical approach to Martial Arts and just very few pictures of the guy in stances, which look quite real. It looks very genuine and even talks about how the Martial gestures can reveal teachings to yourself. -
It has some interesting methods that work. It has fame due to Chinese prosecution. All in all though it's pretty cultish and the leader claims to be "The Buddha" of our time. He kind of mixes his version up a bit in a new agey way. I would not at all recommend it.

question about nonduality and sex
Vajrahridaya replied to Old Man Contradiction's topic in General Discussion
Enlodged means stuck in, or having an emplacement there. No, I'm not a fully liberated Buddha. Thanks for being softer though. I felt better reading your post. In Vajra brotherhood. -
Mmmm, well worded! Bravo!!

The Last Lama Warrior: The Secret Martial Art of Tibet

Yeah right, there are lots of warrior styles and tribes in the district of Kham, as they are known for that. -
I would have thought the names would give you a sense of their function. Oh well.

From some of the reactions and the authors other books. It seems like a New Agey interpretation of things. It can make you feel happy and inspired. I'm just assuming by the reviews though. So, I don't know for sure.

It just means your turning the wheel of your dharma. Your on your way...
-
I used to do all of these and more, spontaneously, when I first started really practicing kundalini yoga. This one is the Dharma chakra mudra or wheel of the Buddha. I would do this lots myself. This was probably my most common one in fact. It feels centered and blissful!! This one is open space, or Akasha mudra. Also one I did quite often! Still do... it feels good, balancing and opening! The other two I don't know the names of right off hand. There are lots and lots of mudra books though. You can put that word into the Amazon search engine and get tons of selections. I guess you should pick the one with the best reviews? I'd go through it normally, but I'm just going to bed now. Maybe some others will chime in?

Yes, but we really need direct experiencing that blows our 5 sense perception assumptions out of the water too. Which is I think what many high level Guru's are working on with us. Including ChNNR of course with his Rigpa transmissions.
-
Honestly... it's possible. You'd be surprised, if you actually put tons of time into researching how it's done through yogic science. It can be learned. But... of course, maybe your too science and 5 sense dogmatic? No really... I like the happy medium. I just know what's possible outside of popular consensus through direct experiencing. Your reality is my fantasy. I do agree! It's kind of a popular Western disease, thinking that I alone AM, and it's I against the cosmos. Or, I..... no, IIIII will find the TRUTH!!! That I is interdependent and thus dependent on all others for existence to begin with. Where in history does anyone truly exist on their own merits? ... not one person! If you want to be a good cook, you learn from others, and then integrate it individually of course. It's the same with spirituality. Except it's more profoundly true how much one really needs some objective information from an outside source that see's right through one's own hidden pride.

I do agree Michael. At the same time, the teachers shouldn't cator too much to our immediate gratification syndrome that resembles raging, craving crack heads surrounding TV in fluxed spoon fed addictions like moral rape music and self generated, simple happiness decay (as in falling for happiness through complex desire). Our Western Popular culture does need to be eased into a higher standard of spiritual education on a faster level of informing, because of what we've been influenced by in the modern market speed of life. I guess it's happening in different ways. Also Michael, just because you got nothing out of "Words of My Perfect Teacher", doesn't mean someone else here in the West did not. You know? I as well found it hard to read past half the book though.

LOL! Ok... sounds like fun.
-
Yes, to me it's more about renouncing ignorance and craving, rather than fun. I'm not 100 percent successful at this, but I've had enough glimpses and fruit of the inner letting be and seeing free, to know what it's like to engage with the world without identifying with it.

So wait, you believe in ghosts but not an after life?? I'm somewhat confused here. Or are you having sex with mental projections or astral bodies of the living?

question about nonduality and sex

From a Cat on the Wol? Wait... what? Ohhh... Crystal and the Way of Light. Of course.. yes no it's true, especially in inner alchemy practictioners (Tantrics). There are way's to hide attainment so that one doesn't stick out. There are ways to black out your auric field and hide your energy in strictly personal dimension. They teach these things in Vajrayana. I can't remember which book I read this in though... sorry. Oh, I don't doubt that. I attained great peace through Hinduism. I have also met some really spiritual Christians and Catholics who have a wonderful vibe and peace about them. I was just talking about Ralis who has done nothing really other than criticize me without any real insight and without any real debate. Mostly just name calling and put downs. Pretty funny really, some of these people in here. Not all, but some. Thanks Pero, You too! It's been a while. What are you transcribing? -
Markern, What you consider fluff is actually the result of intense practice as well as part of the integration of spirituality with world. Much of the fluff is methodology as well, which is very positive if you have an understanding of the meaning. As well as many tools as symbols for contemplation and realization. Most all of the methods of Tibetan Buddhism are from India. Just some of the beliefs and systems are Tibetan, like the Tulku system and the Dalai Lama system. But, if you don't understand these systems, then I can see how you would make false assumptions concerning them. Just like any spiritual tradition, there are far less masters than wanna-be's. Vajrayana is no different. But, there are plenty of highly realized Masters in Vajrayana that teach an authentic path to liberation. Lots and lots of them, and many of them are here in the USA or Europe. Australia... etc. This guy Garchen Rinpoche was in Chinese jail for 20 years and all he did was practice. He now lives in the Arizona desert and teaches world wide. This guy spent most of his life in cave retreats doing intense practice until he said the Dalai Lama came to him in meditation and said that it was time to come down from the mountain. Then he started teaching until he passed away recently. Dilgo Kyentse was an amazing Master who was a Rime scholar and saw how every system within Vajrayana was beneficial and complimentary and didn't think that one system was ultimately greater than the other. He passed away recently, but not before writing an Autobiography. Actually the list of great teachers in Vajrayana is quite endless. Of course the list of not good teachers is probably even more endless, but I don't know about many of the not so great teachers. I only know plenty about the great teachers, because that's where I look and that's where I turn my attention. Markern, It's really about how you focus. Your making broad generalizations that are reflective of very little personal experience, or study. Be honest with yourself.

question about nonduality and sex
Vajrahridaya replied to Old Man Contradiction's topic in General Discussion
Yes, could be entirely subjective.
