HAHAHA!! You're the type of guy I'd like to hang out with... you sound like fun. Anyway... yes, I know the practice it's in ChNNR's Ngondro, or his Tun's of which he has regular medium and long tuns. Actually one of the things that impressed me, of the many even more impressive things about ChNNR was that I had Eczema for years, and my SY practices weren't purifying it, but I met ChNNR and was blown away first by his practices, some of his students, and his transmission of mantra to me in person was the true kicker on that day that made me a Dzogchenpa. But, he did say to me that my water element was off and that when in the shower I should chant the water mantra which he gave me and I should focus on the water element, and do that whenever I drink water... etc. He said it had to do with my liver. So, I did it and in one week it went away and never came back! I had it bad too, my fingers and hand would get so bad they would bleed and scar, they are still scarred from my 7 year bout with eczema, but since doing his Tun's on the elements, nada eczema for the last 7 years. That's my word! -

If the experience or insight is clear, so are the concepts that point to them. That is all. -

Here ralis, this might interest you... which I think is good. As there is a resonance about Sanskrit which I also enjoy! I grew up chanting sanskrit so doing so is easier, but I rather enjoy the Tibetan myself. I don't know why it wouldn't be ok, it's the meaning of the symbols really, and the focus of the mind that one is after. Anyway... check this out... Varanasi to Tibet It's about translating the Tibetan back into Sanskrit and from there into other languages, an effort sponsored by the Dalai Lama. It seems there are original fragments of the original Sanskrit texts scattered in different regions that can be used to get the meter correct. -

I guess you're insinuating that all those Tibetan Masters are wrong because they didn't do it in Sanskrit? What a dogma man... seriously. -

Whatever dude. They have not been destroyed as we still have them, plenty were kept. Most chants with ChNNR are in Sanskrit, not bastardized either. Also... that fact that it didn't feel good to you is your own subjective experience, conditioned by your own mind. I personally feel wonderful with the Tibetan, but all this probably has to do with past lives, karmic connection, etc. You don't have it, I do. So... whatever, you went somewhere else, that doesn't make you right over my right. -

Really, that's what I want to believe? LOL! It's not the language, obviously, because we can say pratityasamutpada or dependent origination, or inter-dependent origination, co-dependent origination, or natural formation and primordial purity, or Lhun drub and kadag, it's the intent that the symbols are pointing to, not the language. It's the internal opening and the experience of the symbols. -

HAHA!! Of course... I feel you dear sister. Love! Thanks!! These kinds of experiences force themselves upon me, I don't have to believe, they just are. -
Interesting, I swear I've seen Mark before. He met Muktananda at the same place and time my Mom did. 1976 in San Francisco. That's interesting.
-
Hi Mantis, Actually you are right... and that's a no. My Shaktipat was top down at 13 or 14? Maybe 16? Which Swami Muktananda said can happen for certain people. I went straight into formless samadhi of absolutely no ground, no eye lids, etc, no time, but purely conscious without an object, beyond perception and non-perception. Then had the various visions manifest until I was in body consciousness again, including the red light suffusing the physical body that Muktananda talks about in Play of Consciousness, which I didn't read until years later by the way. But yes, if Mark trained with the Vajrayana lineage, which Muktananda actually said to some students to go do that. He wasn't all into ownership like some people make him out to be, he did send some people to Vajrayana Masters. Muktananda even did an intensive with the previous Karmapa before he passed on, I think in Colorado? Anyway... yes, Muktananda gave genuine Shaktipat, so does Gurumayi and mine was top down from Gurumayi. I didn't have any physical kriyas, my process was quite smooth. A little bit of shocks, energy spikes, during some stages of meditation over the years but that's about it.

LOL! Yes, you are right, I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to Kabbalah. I like the Bal Shem Tov, he was interesting. I've read a number of things, and I've been influenced by people who know Hebrew on readings of Kabbalah and it's teachings. I know more than you think about it, remember that NYC has many very devoted Jews who read Hebrew and many of them practice Kabbalah and Siddha Yoga as well, which is how I got into it a bit. But sure, I'm no pro. Still... what do I need it for? I've got Dzogchen that leads to the Rainbow Body. That's enough for me. I think you're scared of Buddhism, as it doesn't reify existence for you... as Nagarjuna said, "Other paths take one to the edge of Samsara." It's a very high edge, a good place to be. Who knows, maybe some Kabbalah practitioners attained the Rainbow Body? I'm not attached to either answer. I know Dzogchen does lead to Jalus, and different types of Rainbow Body at that. I don't have to learn another language to get those teachings either. We have a living lineage right now, right here that knows all about it. -
I'm so sad for those poor people, victims of recklessness. I stopped speeding once I hit a deer in upstate NY, it rolled over my car and I got out the car and walked over to it, I saw it take it's last breaths, I was so hurt by this. I couldn't believe it. I killed this poor living being. I have been far more careful ever since. I cried for some of those people in the video you showed us Sloppy. That poor pedestrian slaughtered by the car that got hit and the last one, and the balloon going into the sky, I guess it was a parent and the kid that got hit?

Wow, get the intention of her wish for you. Don't get all dogmatic and reactionary. That is a nice prayer you mentioned though... Yes GIH, I do wish those aspects of reality for you... and me as well! Actually... for everyone!! -
In Dzogchen, the Buddhist tradition from Vajrayana Buddhism, most closely associated with Tibetan Buddhism, you get transmission of Rigpa, which is primordial awareness which is more of a top down approach than the bottom up approach of Hindu Shaktipat traditions. I recommend this better as you will not go through the harsh physical crap from the bottom up approach that happens to people who aren't physically purified in order to get the kundalini awakening. Having had both, I think the Buddhist tradition of awakening the energy and getting it into the central channel is safer, personally.

In my experience, Shaktipat. A living catalyst. It's freakin' powerful. Then again, I don't recommend it. Here... http://easternhealingarts.com/Articles/KundaliniTibet.html

Hey thanks for that link CowTao... very nice! Here's a forum you might like to join! http://www.dharmawheel.net it has all the names from E-Sangha but doesn't seem to be as harsh with it's moderators.

Belief in a single god has not done the monotheists so well. I like Buddhism better, no supreme godhead, just a creative matrix, no supreme will... just us, co-creating. I like Taoism as well without Theism, much like Marblehead, except I do believe in the mystical side of life, that is not generally detected by the 5 senses. I think most Taoists do fine without putting a supreme identity over this creative matrix.

The teachers at these schools in the states are still authorities, they are just better at conducting peer to peer studying and group projects which count as grades towards many different subjects. Even the different teachers share information with each other as a group effort, instead of just one teacher, one hour for one subject. There is more of a spherical holistic approach to the different subjects. Of course plenty of us used the group study time to smoke pot, but still, we were more creative and always ended up doing the projects and getting good grades. I agree that the words Authority and Teacher are not bad words. A person who feels this way has bad experiences with authority figures and teachers, suffered abuse and this is the impression in the emotional body of the person. -

Every state has a few of these schools. The kids from these schools are much softer, smarter and open. Less angry, impatient and with less tendencies towards rebellion, because they just don't feel so imposed upon. -

Exactly my own experience Juju. Also, this idea of we can just listen within, assumes an atman, an eternal essence? Most people just have a bunch of impressions and more subtle impressions clouding their consciousness, which is why people are not fully conscious and have to sleep. Enlightened beings don't lose awareness in bed, they are aware lucidly 24/7 because there are no more partitions between conscious, subconscious and unconscious states of mind, they are fully illumined. But, the vast majority of people are not, they have secrets within that they are not aware of, and it takes guidance to sift through this junk. To do away with all Guru's is B.S. simply due to bitterness of having had a negative experience with one or two? Or reading about false ones in the paper? Generally, really good Guru's aren't going to be in the paper, because the paper generally makes more money off bad news than good news, sadly. I'm just saying.
