Wow, I am! A lot of that was due to my own self loving, but only about half. I've used up my positives for today it seems. Other than that, I think a few members here felt bad and starting giving me some positiveness!

Holy Shit! I almost swallowed my tongue!! Has hell frozen over?? Is the lion and the lamb canoodling each other in the meadow???

Can you reform the spice girls into a do anything tag team of sluts? Only then would I consider changing my opinion on British pomposity.

But, Buddhas view is the viewless view. The idea of a constant eternal is a fixed view. So, I don't have a fixed view, I have a view empty of self and self support, thus dynamic. That is the point. It's neither eternalist, nor is it nihilistic. It's the middle way. Yes it does... yes it does. You know I was joking when I said that... right?

It's very necessary for a Buddhist who has taken the triple gem. Buddhism is a full on religion. If your a Buddhist, you are a follower of Buddhas teachings as well as all the Buddhas that have come after him. For me as a Vajrayana practitioner, that includes people like the Dalai Lama but more specifically my current Dzogchen Master. The Buddhas teachings are not 2,500 years old, they are alive today through so many wonderful masters and teachers of different current Buddhist lineages from around the world! I actually don't read much of Buddhas original teachings anymore as I find myself more into Dzogchen teachings these days and reading translations of works from reputable Dzogchen Masters of old and new. People in this century are still attaining the ever coveted Rainbow Body (Jalus) through the teachings of Dzogchen. So, that's that!

 I concur... hear, hear!

That's hillarious. Made me laugh outloud! Thanks everyone for the support by the way, Creation, Scotty, CowTao, Marbleizing Head-wrap, Apech... But hey! Praise and blame, it's all the same, equilibrium ain't lame.

Well... I'm clicking a whole bunch of positives of people because I think it's just better that way.

Only it's medicine really. It's mostly the other way around that Bon was influenced by North Indian Buddhism when it came into Tibet, though yes, many of the Bon deities were recast as Buddhist deities and many of the dancing ceremonies, ways of dressing and certain other things are new, but the core teachings and practices are exactly the same as they were in North India before it went to Tibet. It's still very much Vajrayana of North India. Yes, that's interesting... Thanks for that!

Well, it's volumes! It's all the first teachings of the Buddha that contain his life story, experiences, insights, debates with people of different traditions including Jain and Hindu views. It contains his rules of conduct for monks and lay practitioners. It's huge! I wouldn't know where to send you really. It would be good to just pick up a book that translates well, skipping over the repetition that is in many of the Suttas.

It appears so... thanks guys!! See... my mood has been altered due to the rating system, which is pretty sad. Just kidding... I mostly find it funny. But, I say down with it!

Yes! I had -33 a few hours ago... now it's down to negative 13, LOL!

Seriously, I'm sorry I accused you of that Stigweard. I feel bad. All the best to you!!

Yes, I'm really not caring too much. I'm having a wonderful night in fact, watched "The Last Airbender" with my beautiful... I mean... "HOT" new roommate and we got into talking spirituality and it was really fulfilling. Not a single time did I even think of my negative rating on here. So, be it! Yes, I could very well be. I'll concede to the possibility that me being wrong might be closer to the fact of the matter.

Yes, I wish more people could be as even minded as you when it comes to debating differing points of view. I think it's subjective. Anyway... your even minded speaks more to me of the depth of your relaxed repose than people who take things so personally and turn to personal attacks rather than just saying, "fine, we disagree... so what?"

It's just interesting that you mentioned it, then I look and it went from 2 to 33 in a very short period of time. But, whatever... I don't really care. Ciao...

Like I said... volume. I post more posts than any other Taoist challenging Buddhist in threads like this.

It has everything to do with people feeling insecure about having their views challenged and that's it. Most everyone does. So, it's to be expected. Also, sometimes when I'm on here I have lots of time to post so I post very frequently at times and I think it has more to do with volume than content as I don't come at people personally, I merely debate the view at first but then people get frustrated and go straight to insults. You've tried to tell me this before, but I just don't agree. I think people are just naturally insecure and get their feelings hurt when you don't agree with their philosophy. So, I did pretty much stop debating, but this thread came up with that specific purpose to talk about the differences.

No one really knows. We can all just guess. There are takes that he died of dysentery and takes that he was poisoned intentionally, and others accidentally. I've read all three of these versions.
-
No Songs, it's not my fault that people get insulting and personal. Not one bit.

I know you weren't Scotty. I didn't feel that way at all. According to Buddhist tradition, there were previous Wheel turning Buddhas other than Shakyamuni from 20,000 years ago and 40,000 years ago, so on and so forth. I don't actually remember the exact number of years and I was really just pulling those numbers out of nowhere. But, according to tradition, these Buddhas started a path of Dharma, then when it died or got too polluted, another wheel turning Buddha comes to start an entirely new Buddhist tradition. Someone said that there was one such Buddha in Australia thousands of years ago who taught the Aborigines dependent origination/emptiness. I don't really know if this is true though I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Wow... seriously? Ok, time to leave this thread, the mean people are coming out of the wood works.

No, only the really good ones!
