  1. Global Revolution!

Actually I was the one that liked his comment, particularily this part: 'Like I said, when the weight of government is small enough to allow for businesses to operate at very small profit margin, you wind up with a lot more businesses. More businesses, more jobs. Is it anny wonder that a business with a 2-5% profit margin completely ceases expansion in the face of potential 2-5% increases in costs? That almost kills the entire business right there, for if they cant operate at a profit then that necessarily means they are going out of business before too long.' Even if you don't agree with someone's overall philosophy, that doesn't mean one can't acknowledge when they've made a good point.
  2. Taobums Q&A with Kosta Danaos

Many thanks to Becker and Kostas! As a fellow Fallout fan, the mention of New Vegas and leveling brought a smile to my face, hehe.
  3. Global Revolution!

A contextually greater degree of freedom for businesses and capital creation was definitely valid during the period when large levels of expansion and growth were possible. I think, however, that this era has come to an end, and corporations are not going to be able to deal with the realities of peak oil, overpopulation and dwindling resources. Goverment regulation, whether top-down or horizontal, will be necessary. That does not mean however that relative degrees of economic freedom, particularily on the level of small businesses and farms, will not still be needed to create stability and adaptive flexibility. In that context the conservative argument that one should maintain a skeptical additude towards new regulation does hold water, and has nothing to do with being "uncompassionate" or "greedy". Oh yeah, and the Fed should be nationalized.
  4. Taoism and Heavy Metal Music

Indeed. I was quite shocked when I learned he had passed only a couple days after the concert I went to. It was the first and LAST time I saw him.
  5. shaktipat

Sometimes the effects of Shaktipat do indeed show up most starkly when you're asleep. I've had some VERY intense dreams in the past after a session.
  6. For me it only takes a little effort to get back a feeling of strong chi flow, however it tends to feel "dull" and less expansive and dynamic than before the slack off period. After awhile though the sense of expansion returns.
  7. Taoism and Heavy Metal Music

I attended a recent GWAR concert two weeks ago. It sent my earth chakra into overdrive and felt incredibly cathartic. On other days I've also enjoyed listening to light, soothing Native and New Age music, depending on my moods and needs. Both 'light' and 'dark' have their uses.
  8. The most to-the-point way to reduce world population would be a global agreement, ratified by the UN, to limit the birth rate to 2.0 per woman. Over time, the population would gradually decrease and stabilize. Of course, implementing such a rule in reality, on a global scale, would be the hard part...
  9. something's up?

A possible UFO/ET disclosure sometime within the next decade is another possibility I have often thought about, along with the continuing economic chaos.
  10. Very interesting thread. I wish I had read this more thoroughly earlier, I would have tried to guess myself, lol. On a side note it's amazing to me that more people don't give remote sensing/telepathy a try. Some simple ability in such really isn't that hard to gain as long as you can concentrate for a couple minutes and adopt a relaxed, unselfish approach (and you don't need to "open your third eye" either), just that the specifics of what you can sense and when depends on context and the individual. I believe the benefits to learning such skills (especially if it occurs on a collective social level) outweighs the downsides.
  11. Man made structures that are either abandoned or don't have many people around can in some cases be very good meditation spots. They have a strong charge.
  12. Taobums Q&A with Kosta Danaos

In The Magus of Java, is the description of the fight between the two masters that included phrases such as 'it was as if bombs had been dropped' intended to be literal or partly symbolic/figurative? Although I have experienced things like remote viewing and spirits, I found this part of the book a bit hard to swallow.
  13. Is Peace sneaking up Unnoticed

There may indeed be less *physical* violent crime in the world now, but it could also be argued that more harm is done to peoples' inner psyche. The hunter gather who died young due to feuds with a nearby tribe may have suffered less and experienced more satisfaction in life than the modern office worker who puts on a smiling face and tells himself he's happy because he believes he is supposed to be, yet on a psychological level he is dying a bit more every day....
  14. Global Revolution!

Karl Denninger, a former CEO who has expressed some agreement with OWS, posted an analysis recently of the main demands. (Denninger oftentimes comes across as an ass, but he IS quite knowledgeable when it comes to economics and banking fraud). http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=196201
  15. Taoism and Karma

Action/reaction is the linear understanding most people are used to. It's understandable that Buddha and other spiritual teachers would have described things in that manner for the majority. Resonance is definitely a better description though. The process of improving one's resonance can be quite painful however, just that the detox affect can happen during meditation, instead of affecting your finances and other external issues. >.<
  16. Global Revolution!

Several years ago when I stumbled across Mises.org and Lewrockwell.com I thought I had found the ideological Holy Grail which, while not perfect, would fix most of the worlds problems. Over time though I started to realize that ideological path is full of gaping holes, even if the emphasis on freewill is valid. The tendency among libertarians and anarcho-capitalists to think of individuals and physical "property" as wholly separate entities with inherent qualities is hard to reconcile with the reality of an interconnected universe. Afterwards I started drifting more towards the viewpoints expressed below: http://mutualist.org/id4.html
  17. So What does Tao say about attachment/desire

Learning detachment is good for being able to let go of things that no longer help you. For a brief period when I was experiencing intense internal bliss I started wondering if I really was becoming completely "free". Then I got attached to other things and realized I "nope, I'm still a lustful, spiteful ding dong human". The difference is that inner alchemy makes the process of shifting attachments and detachment smoother and more natural.
  18. Global Revolution!

Wow, Sereneblue I think you and me must be long lost twins or something. O.o My own views are like an exact echo of yours. I lean towards the libertarian-socialist/anarcho-communist side of spectrum when it comes to these things. I no longer identify with ANY of the mainstream parties or proposed solutions for fixing the system. In many respects I don't think they system CAN be fixed, it needs to be entirely replaced with something humanity has never seen. I agree that both centralized top-down government and top-down corporations need to have their influence reduced. The problem with most of the proposed solutions from Liberals, Conservatives and Libertarians is that they equate to only removing the barnacles from one side of a ship, which results in it spinning out of control. In reality barnacles need to be carefully removed from BOTH sides, and then the ship needs to be worked on by highly skilled engineers until it's vastly different from its current form.
  19. DNA Evidence Rocks the Boat

I think many white liberals (generally Baby Boomers but many Generation Y hipsters have absorbed the same unconscious beliefs) have an internalized self-guilt complex that creates double standards they aren't always aware of. This creates situations like that of white people sitting around talking about how evil white people are, along with a picture of a white man in the center of the five races receiving much more scrutiny than one with an African or Asian man in the center would have received. It also takes the form accusations of racism being used to dismiss an unwanted viewpoint if there's even a slight oppurtunity to interpret it as such, as Vortex mentioned. Racism is racism, even when it is directed towards your own "race". IM4L's posts in this thread were NOT racist IMO.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but it needs to be kept in mind as events proceed... How COINTELPRO really works and destroys social movements: Open letter from former Tea Partier to Occupy Wall Street protesters

  22. The Temple of Mu

I'm not sure about the millions of years worth of human history taught in Theosophy, but I have wondered about the possibility of other civilizations existing both before and during the past Ice Age. With a lowered sea level during the previous Ice Age it's entirely possible that there are areas of previously fertile land now underwater, some of which might have been flooded suddently and violently.
  23. Depression Kills, Qigong Saves

Five years ago I started watching a video of Sifu Wong and went into a chi flow just from that. If you're already somewhat psychic and sensitive to energetics it becomes easier to pick up on these things and magnify your own practice. Face to face transmission from a teacher is still best though in my experience.
  24. AlienMind

Alien Mind Website with free download Has anyone else seen this yet? I was quite impressed by it. The author's research comes across as quite rigorous and intelligent, especially compared to some of the other material I have seen in the UFO field. The thing I like most about it is that he doesn't just speculate based on others work, he seeks OUT direct communication with extraterrestrials, and explains how one can do the same via remote viewing/sensing.
  25. Depression Kills, Qigong Saves

Chi flow is not a technique that you 'do'. It 'does' you.
