Love this thread. Here's my small contribution. Yesterday, I was doing KAP for about an hour, nothing too intense (was actually watching tv at the same time-just running energy, kriyas, etc.), then went to take my daughter to school. Tried to open the door, but felt a glitch- pulled a little harder and the metal handle/door came off. I walk inside to say sorry and front desk lady was very happy, saying "I was hoping that would happen, the door has been stuck for a long time and we needed it to break or the repair guy wouldn't come out". Her desire, my pull, coincidence, all of the above? Interesting...

The fear I have of letting go is_____;The fear I have of letting go is____? You know if you looked up Shaktipat on the internet a little over a decade ago, you would receive only 6 replies. Now there are thousands. You are in a supportive environment with people guiding you along the way. Relax into the process and it will go much easier.

Hmm...How does somebody "insist" on good writeups? Please be more clear (if possible). I can only account for my experience. I read the book and enjoyed it on many levels. Never met the man in person. Hope this helps.

Just finished the aforementioned book. A Joseph Campbell quote comes to mind: "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are...to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match nature with Nature." The secret of this book is in the energy transmission (if you are open and ready). Many blessings Michael.

Does daily Chi Kung practice reduce the need for physical exercise?
Kameel replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
Blasto, I agree with Mal- overtraining. Same thing happened to me in college (without the energy component). Had to go from 7 day hard w/o's to 3 a week (gym closed certain days in summer). I was so afraid to lose muscle (I was very attached to my muscle in those days), but I actually got bigger, stronger, less DOMS,etc). -
White Tea is less processed (than green or black) and has a higher theanine content with less caffeine. The taste is very subtle and may be an acquired taste for some. I would recommend getting only loose leaf, and not bagged. The bagged doesn't create enough space for the leaves/buds to expand (which is true for most teas, but especially white.) Different varieties are available (silver needle, peony, etc) and are priced according to quality of buds, harvest time etc.

I just finished reading the interview. Great read. Love your honesty and thanks for making it...shall we say, easier to understand. BTW, a great version of the aforementioned mantra can be heard on Kailash's CD Following Sound into Silence. "AUM. Homage to Tara, swift heroine, whose mantra Tutare dispells all fear, and Ture, which fulfills all needs."

At first I was confused how a male could have menstrual pain and endometriosis, but then I see you give credit to another author at the end with an *. I'm not sure this flows smoothly, because it feels like the first person accounts are from you (DC). Overall very good info, though.

Mayan Abdominal Massage, Chi Nei Tsang, or Visceral Manipulation (if you prefer light work).

Tea is a great substitute, but be careful on the mg amounts (if you are sensitive to caffeine). Even though it is stated green= 20-25 gm; white = 15 mg and black = 50 mg, this is not always so. Independent labs have tested some greens as high as 100 mg + (depending on the region grown, use of shading like gyokuro, higher in mountains, use of whole leaf/stem like matcha, etc.). But still better than coffee overall IMO(higher chi value and the theanine helps balance the stimulant effects to create a calm awareness).

You don't. But since this isn't understood in the western context, neurologists have discovered a way to numb the area to prevent discomfort in people with coccygeal pain. Problem is this doesn't solve the...problem. It would be like trying to numb the pineal gland to get rid of a splitting headache...doesn't make much sense.
-
I forgot to mention...google kundalini and ganglion impar, together, for more info. If you just google ganglion impar, you will be welcomed to studies on numbing the nerve plexus.
-
Drew, IMO, while similar to a gland, this is actually a nerve plexus. Specifically, ganglion impar. Probably the least known anatomic structure in western medicine (they always want to numb it).

Little orbit is great, especially with kegel pulsations. Reverse direction works best for me for the majority of my practice, but you can always muscle test to see which is more beneficial to you (it's not always the same for all men/women).

Bruxism- 3 solutions/ideas 1) Hypnotherapy (suggestive, no need for regressive) You can even do self-hypnosis with free internet scripts (google bruxism and hypnosis), but it is best to work in yr personal situation (ex: personal image stuff, yoga restritions, etc) 2) Botox 4-8 units each masseter (depending on strength of clench) Usually provides 3-6 months of relief; at that point the body may have naturally reestablished new neuroplasticity and relaxation or you can repeat 3) Boris Prilutsky Medical Massage for TMJ Video (I am not sure if he ever released this on DVD) This is basically botox without botox and the added benefit of more range of motion, fascial lengthening. Great if you can get a copy (maybe contact him through his site and see if any are available) Of course other solutions exist energetically...

IMO fasting styles link up according to body types (mesomorph, endomorph, ectomorph or kapha, pita, vata if you prefer ayurveda). So if you really are an inner"space cadet" = vata/ecto; fasting; is usually not necessary, or at the very least, supplement with lots of root vegetables, ginger teas and don't execrise very much during yr fast. If that is just a fun name and yr digestion is much slower, the rules are different. For instance, I am very kapha and can go 5 days without food easy and do ashtanga yoga or muay thai, etc- no problem at all. My wife is very pitta and can barely get through her 5-6 hour nightime slumber without eating. (hmm...this makes her sound rather large , she is actually small, but eats like a house which is the point of her having firey digestion.) Check into bigu fasting if yr so inclined (energized fasting). Or see a naturopath, or Ayurvedic specialist. Having said all this, you can always just experiment, and see what happens; it really isn't as scary as some people make it out to be. Real simple version= think pure thoughts + drink pure water -stop when intuition speaks.

You know...sex doesn't need to be shameful. It's the catalyst of yr existence. It's the reason we can have this conversation right now. Nothings good or bad, only thinking makes it so (Shakespeare). -
You know...I don't always get your sense of humour, but I found this very funny.

This is in no way meant to be disrespectful, but can't you just ask Max what he says to his students. I have no experience with SSTT or Kunlun, but that seems a more direct means of communication.

People say the animation on the DVD's is the best out there...so props to you. Have you done any other animation for martial arts (internal or external) we should know about? Or any plans in the future?

Oh...I forgot to mention that his voice is much improved (more base and resonant) on the Neigong/Tantra CD. This one is studio recorded vs. the live Breath Empowerment CD.
-
So I decided to try a few Primack CD's to give an opinion of the experience. Here's my completely biased rundown. Breath Empowerment is described as Indian pranayama, when it is actually Rebirthing/Vivation/Holotropic Breathwork. You start in corpse pose, doing conscious connected breaths- powerful inhale and no pause between. This lasts for 35 minutes with 2 sections of being "perched" on your elbows for 50 breaths each. The concept is not bad. My biggest complaint is his voice- very nasal, reedy, thin and irritating (IMO). Also, when leading someone into trance/altered states, using the works "cancer" and "tired" are not recommended as the subconscious tends to latch on to the words (even if used in a positive context). I did enjoy the ending section with an earth meditiation visualized in the lower dantien. I would recommend this to someone that has never done any rebirthing and would like an entry point. Of course if stuff comes up (emotional, past memories, etc) you would have to be able to integrate on yr own. Next up is Neigong and Tantra CD. I enjoyed this one much more. It is a 2 CD package with one CD of lecture (describing the practices) and one of meditations. Three meditations are included. The first is 5 breath Dantien where 2 colors (red and white) are incorporated in 4 directions to charge the lower dantien on the inhale. The exhale consists of visualising a yin/yang spinning and then turning into a golden star. I have experiences with a similiar meditation, but his version was good, also. The 2nd meditation was my favorite; swaying in the orb. A chi ball is created and pulsed with hands changing positions (which one is on top) and then hands upright on lap create an arh of chi connecting to one another. Then very subtle and gentle swaying of the upper body (left, right, front, and back). This is actualy more powerful than I made it sound. Finally he does a Tantra practice of overlaping yr chakras with yr lover and works up each one to create a deeper connection (using "bubbling champagne" imagery). Not bad, but I prefer running orbits while facing in Yab Yum position. Sorry if any spelling mistakes, I have to go now. Cheers, Kameel
