Saddam had not complied to the NATO resolutions since he got his ass kicked the first time for a decade. Basically flipping off the world saying "what are you going to do about it?" Besides he put a contract on George W's dad. Who better to make an example of. Damn right our enemies had an awakening. Next time NATO lays down the law, leaders will comply. O.K. I'm off the soap box.

If we had no military, which language do you think we would be speaking? It is not the solider in the field that gives the orders, it is your elected officials, namely the commander in chief War is political. Don't shit on our military personnel, question the government. When the bullies start getting serious such as 9/11, you must kick some ass or else the world will think you are a pussy. That would make us vulnerable and would leave our allies doubtful. Iraq had it coming.

He should be grateful that someone else is doing the dirty work protecting your freedom. Some are ungrateful that others are willing to literally put their ass on the line so you don't have to

The body is merely a vehicle for our spirit to navigate this world in. When we die, the "driver" has abandoned said vehicle. If someone can use the spare parts, I think that would be good. In the natural world, dead organisms are eaten by live organisms to survive. Transplants are a high tech way of doing the same.

The first crops ever cultivated in recorded history was barley by the Sumerians. The primary purpose of said grain was for the making of BEER! -
How humans are not physically created to eat meat
Bum Grasshopper replied to Jedi777's topic in General Discussion
Humans are opportunistic eaters. Our greatest trait is that we learn to adapt very quickly. Early humans were largely vegetarian when vegetable matter was available. Meat was consumed only on the rare occasion. Even in the early modern era, meat was a rare (no pun ) treat. As the world became industrialized, the thought became "wow! by making ranching an industry, we can eat meat everyday and make a fortune doing it." Now we are finding that that too much meat is not a good thing and we are once again evolving. I feel that being a vegetarian is just as extreme as someone who only eats meat. Sure you can live that way but why? It is the dead of winter here in Michigan. I am sure that the natives of this land lived mostly on deer, rabbit and other game as well as fish caught through the ice. The cold weather provides natural refrigeration. Root vegetables, winter squash and dried grains rounded out the diet. In the spring and summer, fresh fruits and vegetables take center stage and with no more natural refrigeration, meat and fish are the supplements. This diet is in accordance with the Tao. I try to adjust my diet to the seasons and eat local food whenever I can. -
I am prone to SAD and depression. I find frankincense a very powerful antidepressant. I usually burn it at bedtime, not when practicing.

No offense, I'm not too far behind you! Just some posters here are in their teens

I have no knowledge of the nei kung system of c.k. chu, so I can't comment. However, the Kunlun system is so udderly simple, and results come quickly. Seeing that you are getting a relatively late start, that would be a great advantage.

I do know that if you step in guardian shit, you will have bad karma for many lifetimes!

The bad luck can be also scraped off your shoe by doing a chi kung movement called "sliding foot" in a sideways motion. I don't know about pomelo leaf, but maple leaf and a stick can get in those deep treads. A sole cleansing with a hose is the best method for removing all traces of the bad spirit. If you are a taoist who do poo, you can wipe your ass with a cleansing FU. If you are a taoist who don't know poo, refrain from posting like you do. Then that will be fine. Sorry about having a little fun at you expense Mak, but some of your posts just scream for it

Case study -Camping - Night Pee-ing
Bum Grasshopper replied to Mak_Tin_Si's topic in General Discussion
All beings have been peeing outside from the beginning of our existence. Just humans pipe the urine from the inside to the outside, and that from only a hundred years or so. Pee to a tree is nothing more than water. It is doing them good. Mr. Si, where would you have us pee then? -
The alternative would have been the dog would be destroyed or sold to science for experimental purposes. If man had not domesticated and bred dogs, surely my dog would not even be in existence. Was it not the way of the Tao and the virtue of man that dogs have come to be our companions? No, we do not understand FULLY what they need and how they feel, but we do not know FULLY what anyone needs or how they feel, including ourselves. I know when my dog is happy and when he is sad, and when he is melancholy. I think he knows the same from me and wants me to be happy, just as I want him to be happy. Sometimes my dog tells ME to listen to his instructions, such as when he barks at the door when he wants to come in. He drops a ball in my lap demanding that I play with HIM. So I suppose that it is a balance of sort. If I am having a bad day, my dog still loves me no matter what. He motivates me to take walks in the woods or to go swimming in a lake. This is fun and healthy for both of us. I see my relationship with my dog to be a gift of the Tao. I can see this a cultural issue with you Mak Tin Si and possibly the Taoist religion, coming from a country that still views dogs as food.

I have a Golden Retriever I purchased a little over 3 years ago. I thought it was great virtue providing this loving animal a home, food and veterinary care. In return, he gives me love, entertainment and exercise. I pick up his poo and give him a bath. He has brought much joy in my life. I think those who step in dog poo must already have bad luck, otherwise they would not have stepped in it!

Sounds to me that such excessive pounding of the pud has resulted in some nerve damage. The burn you feel is nerve endings regenerating. This can take 6 months, to over a year to happen. The good news is that you will have renewed sensitivity in your little friend. Hope you learned your lesson.

Dealing with a parent with dementia
Bum Grasshopper replied to ToP-fan's topic in General Discussion
I have a brainwave entrainment program that may help. It speeds up cognition of the left side of the brain with beta waves while sharping the right side with SMR waves. She would have to sit quietly with headphones on for 30 minutes once or twice a day. If you think she would be cooperative I can post it for you. -
What are your views on which order- Kunlun followed by Tai Chi, or the other way around. I originally thought that playing Tai Chi after KL would distribute the energy evenly. I now prefer to do Tai Chi first. It loosens me up and makes my KL session more powerful.

Water should be 180F. Boiling water releases too much tannin and makes tea bitter. Add a little water to your leaves, swish around a bit, then toss out before making your first infusion. This washes off oxidation and powdered leaves which can throw off flavor. Enjoy!

What is the best martial arts?
Bum Grasshopper replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
Sure would be great to see one of these "masters" demonstrate their art against someone who is really trying to do some damage while keeping from getting hurt themselves. Since the popularity of no holds barred competition, the only "master" that has been willing to do so using only their respected art was Royce Gracie. Even Bruce Lee got his ass beat when he put too much faith in Wing Chung. I'm not saying these arts don't have their merit, they also have their shortcomings that a sensible Taoist must realize. In my opinion, the best MA is consistently changing like the flux of yin and yang. If there was one that was any better than the others, we would all be learning that style. Until another style exploits it's weaknesses. look at BJJ. Everyone thought it was the best. Now we know it's weakness and can defeat a BJJ artist who is not proficient at other arts as well. -
What is the best martial arts?
Bum Grasshopper replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
Why is it that when these "artists" enter the octagon, they favor haymakers and double leg take downs rather than their fancy techniques? -
I had much success with brainwave entrainment as a beginner. It is a sound with beats or pulses embedded in that guides your brain to produce certain brainwave patterns. Alpha is produced during light meditation is conducive to imagery, theta when you are in a deep state is good for connecting with the subconscious mind. My problem is I would "play" songs I heard that day in my head. Listening to brainwave music helped stop the songs from playing.
