I see desire as longing for that which we long to make part of our selves , while attachment is the inability to let go of that which has become a part of our lives - (on the temperal plane) love to all- Pat

Wayfarer64 replied to mwight's topic in General Discussion
I have suggested this before... and I PLEDGE TO FINANCE THE BUYING OF THE LAND & BUILDING THE PREMISSES TO CREATE SUCH A COMMUNE IF I WIN THE LOTTERY!!! If we ALL concentrate on these #s... 05 07 15 34 42 47 for the NJ - pick six... this evening - the drawing is Thursday evening- 8 PM EDT YES!-We can move forward... and if this doesn't work lets plan ahead to do a concerted effort of our collective energy to win a lottery!!! - I need not be the recipient - we can formulate the numbers in a seperate thread etc - but I do believe that if we alll concentrate on such a feat it can be achieved! love to all- Pat EDIT- next day- NOT A Winner! -but I do think that its an interesting approach to building our collective abilities and then build something!- -
There are so many differences between Buddhist and Taoist ways that it is mind boggling how they are so often compaired here as if they are so much the same.....!!!! the goals of seekers change as they mature and develope- use what ever environment you are in and delve into your own sense of reasons for you to be in any given situation...learn from any and every situation...

He crumpled the dash-board of a car... - Sifu was in the front passanger seat when asked to demonstrate his iron palm by a car load of students. The heat was intense from his hand and he suggested to the driver of the car that he pull over so that the energy could be released into a gaurd rail, -the owner/driver said it was ok to hit the dash-board - and soon regreted his desission! Soon after I saw Sifu Chung riding on a stallion that was very wild. He gave a tap/slap to the fractious horse on its' neck. The horse went spread-legged and ears back and pissed a turrent. The horse also became pretty managable after that. By the way Sifu Chung had asked for the most rambunctious horse the stable had and needed to sign a waver to be able to even legally get on and ride the beast.

Thank you for this opportunity to help build something wonderful!!! love to all- Pat

When my sifu "revved up" his Iron Palm it generated an amazing amount of heat... Then he HAD TO release the energy and hit something...-Just tapping an object would crumple it. Love to all- Pat

I am honored that you think of me as capable for representing the Tao Bums in such a capacity. I would very much regard such an incounter as a high-light of my questing! I am not sure that my meager skills would seem like much at all to the sifu. Perhaps my sifu's son who is also a master would concider such an adventure viable - but he has 3 kids to be a father for so .... Also, wouldn't language skills be more important in this adventure? I have little more than "restaurant" Chinese language...

Has this thread drifted into a crossroads where it indicates that we should bring esoteric Buddhists together with Wahhabists? This would be the place to try. Anyone know any fundamentalist Muslems to bring here for a chat?

There was pink light and voices and the feel of my mothers' bones around the womb. -I've written of this here before - I think I'll look it up and see if there is anything to add- soon-Pat EDIT: I found this entry- I'm getting the idea that perhaps we are each correct for ourselves and our view-points. Having whatever sort of mind we may have - gives us each an amplification or dimming of our original inner self to various degrees. I have always felt a connection to my "original" self and indeed remember being in the womb and being born. These are of course rather deep and not as often in my waking consciousness-as say- thirst and the need to piss etc...(Which is to say at least once a day). And dimmed a bit by the following 52 years of living between then and now... but they're still vivid and true memory experiences. This does not make me enlightened. It helps me only to realize that there is a continuum and connection to that which could enlighten me; if I could make the encredible efforts of will becoming non-will, and being returning to non-being , (while still a breathing, singular entity), - that such seeking would seem to intail! Still, I am becoming more ready to delve deeper into my spiritual path and seek a fuller understanding of the Tao. I have already presumed some level of understanding as I became a conduit for a book of Taoist sonnets, and had the ego to publish them! This with only some small understanding of the" Chinese mind"... I am also quite secure in my work being a worthy element within Taoist thought. This is not from ego, but from a sense that the way the poems came through my consciousness as an act of creativity was an inspired response to something within me that used me for its' own expression.

My point is that it seems much more sensible for other followers of Islam to address thier (the Wahabbists)misconceptions than any other group could - If we stand up to the hijackers as it were, like those who died in Pennsylvania did on 9/11...We have a chance of avoiding greater harm done in future perhaps... Due to a lack of wisdom or what ever the cause... it seems to be a real fight. I believe that other Muslems have some responsibility to argue philisophical interpretations etc...The hubris of ignorance has held sway too long...

Back in 1971-'72 my draft # was 1 -yes one out of 365!- They ended the darft about 10 days before my supposed induction. At that time - I said train me and see what happens....I won't fight your war. I was not alone. We were not only pacifists we were also wariors who would fight for what we believed to be right. If you want to be a warrior, deside for yourself who your enemy is, study the enemy. Do not let Governments deside who you will fight. They are often badly mistaken. If in your heart you are a pacifist than make sure that any fray you get caught up in lets you remain non martial in your activities. I am not a pacifist, but I make damn sure I know what I fight for and against!

I'm not so sure that "garbage " is the best name to call those that need conversation and perhaps some new, meaningful ways to become aware of how their system is disaffecting the rest of Islam etc... In other words as a supporter of Sufi wisdom isn't it more helpful to get their ear- or are they equally antagonistic towards Sufis, as any other approach to Allah?
-
This is all well & good. Sufis are not the radical Islamists that this thread is addressing. I believe the question is related rather more to the Wahhabists elements of Islam. These more militant Muslems are supposed to represent some 20-25% of Islam... Do those numbers seem real? What are the numbers of Sufis? Who thinks that Sufis and Ba'hais may be a counter-balance to the Jihadists? Is there any peaceful yet determined effort by Sufis & Ba'hais to prevail upon Wahabis to cool their jets?

This saga is fast becoming an obviously questionable foray, a foible a farce ... Was it ever else?

I can remember back to being in the womb. Anything before that I can not describe as memory.

Please remember that all things change. It sounds like you are due for one and that change may be just a period of relaxation. Take hot baths and long walks in as wild a countryside as you can find near to you. Go there as often as you are able and realize how wonderful life is...
