Why is there so much disrespect in the Taoist tradition?
Wayfarer64 replied to Cameron's topic in General Discussion
Hey - YEAH, only the fraudian/Freudian thing was intentional - the s/d thing was a typo(see keyboard)- but i enjoyed seeing it and relating it to what I was saying - the id has its place in life as does the super-ego- (yet & still some other names for kharma/darma etc etc...) Life has so many aspects to explore I do not put values on these aspects as much as Lin does, so I wished to comment on the hierarchical structure of some values placed on different aspects of our lives ... I have lived a studius/stoic life at times and a fun filled life a time or two as well... Even when under severe duress I had a notion of life being worth the effort and suffering is not an aspect that I abhore...It is one i learn from -

well stated Lin... I can remember many feelings and attitudes from past lives and deal with the karma of past lives as much as the living day by day -consciously as many here do...It is a very important aspect of life that many here realize and work with. We each may also willfully " back-slide" some as well and provoke the forces of cosmic order-just for the kick of adding added zest to this life... That sort of roller-coaster is a wonderful and thrilling aspect of being a human being. I for one have no wish to be calm, serene or passive, at least not as yet in this life... But I sure have slowed down some in the past twenty years...Such is life - I just made a typo-of writing is as id - an interesting Fraudian slip indeed! -

You seem to have more patience than many of us Darin, The younguns will catch us up... in a while these human sprouts will be closer to our ages as a percentage of our time alive... as time goes on all things become closer to eachother in some way... not to worry, not to hurry... now I'm off to get my geritol/viagra fix...

Hey there Leo- I'm turning 54 in early March... Yes emptying is the way to fullness...from being full of stuff to emptying in order to be filled with light...This has been a good way for my own inner space to be somewhat transformed through practices both esoteric and mundane... Here - with our fellow Bums, we may each find new ways to transform our selves in the comfort of friendly supportive seekers... And I am pretty sure that if we can keep our minds open, age will take us onward and inward/upward with ever lighter loads to carry... Congrats on the wedlock-!!! Love to all-PDG

Yes indeedy! Letting go of extrapolated fears and wishes is the root of all goodness in one's heart! BUT, being in the moment with no preconceived notions of wants and desires nor FEARS -just being the best ya can be in the now is not so easy as it would seem, when there are real problems in the here and now... My roomie-(who has severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) wandered off the day after Christmas, without his meds.... He was tracked down a few days ago by the woman who has his power of atty. (and thus can track his credit card)...But he has not communicated with any of his friends or the Christian Charity folks who over-see his meds etc...It is very worrisome indeed as to what harm he can bring to himself- he has no physical strength at all and is the most timid man I have ever known of.. .He needs protection from himself and others quite often, as he has been known to go into strangers' homes and crash-out on their couch until awoken and brought to the cop-shop etc... I can only have been wooried about him, but it is the projected fears of what nuttyness he will do next that is My problem in this situation...and quite difficult to calm. Meditation helps a lot but when there is a "great unknown" factor of some importance in yr life -letting go aint easy! And that is when it is sometimes most needed as we go about doing what must be done to get on with our lives...The rational process can superceded the emotional but there is often more effort needed when troubles arise...

Hey there Starjumper- I'm not so sure of the 1000% thing but yes - discipline works wonders for any attempt at self betterment -be it physical, spiritual, mental or martial etc... I concur that WORK is needed in any case.- But I would also still like to hear from Buddy about his thoughts on these things...- And a very Happy new year to all-Pat
-
Buddy - I appreciate yr scepticism. But, what do you see as spiritualism vis-a-vis cultivation of our inner selves/attributes...? Do you see spiritualism as something altogether different than seeking within?

A Mayan Prediction What do you think, ? According to some extreme interpretations of the ancient Mayan calendar (The Tzolkin), the end of the world is not so far away. To be precise, it's five years from today. Said to be based on human gestation in 260 day cycles, the theory is that the overall calendar (which has a beginning and end) represents species gestation. In other words, it's thought to predict the length of the existence of the human race! Some scholars attempting to correlate The Tzolkin with our modern calendar conclude that it runs from the equivalent of August 11, 3114 BC to December 21, 2012. As such, believers say the world as we know it will end on that day - specifically at 11:11 a.m. GMT.

So it is, at last ... Christmas ! Stay well and happy as the proverbial clams all of you wonderous Taobums- I'm thinking that the world is a better place for this forum and a true blessing for us all- so a special thanks to Sean once again... for this way-cool place to communicate with one-another... And yep- Jesus is still a source of shared love... even if the institutions that were fostered in his name leave something to be desired...(and I can claim no humility in that brash opinion)

Procurator you mention an "energetical body"...correct phrase? Energetical \En`er*get"ic*al\, a. [Gr. ?, fr. ? to work, be active, fr. ? active. See Energy.] 1. Having energy or energies; ... What is it you are saying? My physical body has energy but where is my energetical body?- Please explain this concept to me...Is it the spiritual being of light and reason that I hope to manifest or what...? And since we all have to shit, (even if we will not all be enlightened) - at least in shit we have common ground to grow from... Nurtured of course with loving respect for each other and our seperate ways to cultivate...

Are we talking about inner-space walls or livingroom walls here? I have crumbled many a wall will my noodle-but they were only in my mind to begin with...
-
thanks pal!- But I prefer an over/under say a 30-30 over a ten guage for a little versatility... and canned food sucks so its back to the farm for fresh eats... The whole missing planet thing is just wack... thanks for yr insights.

If I ever get Varruccaed I shall be a step ahead on the right foot and ready with potent piss... By the way, does anyone know about a nasty plant found in the jungle of Costa Rica - that would leave a burning acid when brushed up against...that needed to be pissed on right away or it becomes horribly painful -enough so tht demure hikers were known to ask with some vehimence for anyone to piss on them... I never encountered this plant myself but there were many stories... So pissing away bad flaura/fauna has some other instances . -
I'm just flumoxed by the supposed exactitude of this thing. The certainty it holds for some folks I've met, (mostly on line)...the 5 year thing... It strikes me as much of a hoax as some other trips offered here and elsewhere... But there is also an element of expectation from a pretty wide demographic... and what's expected often enough does get manifested... I for one say a revolution of consciousness may be forthcoming eventuated by the web -a broadening of perspective that does become truly global . In any case, the world as we know it is changing so rapidly already, and even if we sit and do nothing but meditate for the next five years or take up any new direction and find new goals and asperations- Both in our inner lives of meditation and/or our outer lives of chopping wood and carrying water... It seems certain that we will be living different lives... in one way or another, no matter what the cosmic alignments bring our way...

I eat a head of garlic EVERY day- it goes in salads, and anything else I make... I suppose my piss will be even more effective as an anti-bacterial... But it doesn't seem to bother folks breath & body odor-wise... -I don't get comments-(but I do shower every day & clean my mouth alot- But, I seldom piss on my feet ... I may start to do so if possitive reports come in on this Moddona advice... Happy holidays to one & all- -
Those AS cigs are a fine smoke -I've had two or three over the past year. But I prefer a fine cigar about once a month-less than $10. CAO or Don Pedron... And why ask us what you should do here !? I of course would prefer that I read yr good cheer here at times... if that's a vote so beit... I'm not so sure I want that responsibility...so- do not give us yr choice to make! be a mensch and take what time ya need... I'm wondering why plan an action (and make oaths about choices?) In the future ... yr circumstances will change and you may regret making an oath on a whim, oaths should not be taken on a whim. That cheapens yr word. So I hope to hear from ya here as usual- PDG

What administration? the Freakin' GWB -sure -That administration deserves severe admonishment !!!but Sean has a right to express himself here as much (if not more) as anyone... I sense that the revival of some of these issues is done by supporters of DSV at this point...(maybe not you Nutting but why belabor the points we have shared already)? I will at some point always jump in to say I think the manner in which he has been touted here makes me want to puke. Shilling is a great art in many cultures for many items and isms...I am a capitalist with socialist leanings ...I can respect salesmanship, when it is honest... but- I smell hucksterism in everything I have seen /heard about DSV -even as I wish it were not so... But please do not mistake Sean's personal attitudes with his administrative duties - In this community he has earned great respect. Far more than DSV -because many here do not value the glitz/hype presented to us with arrogant protagonists promoting "feats & powers" as a commodity... I for one ain't buyin it.- nuff said-happy holidays to everyone !-Pat -

The reminder stings - and I am humbled by the memory- I was -(Nutting et al newbies)- one of those who were provoked to make angry and beligerent response to Denty's arrogant claims...I felt he needed to be grounded in a serious manner and demanded his appology which was accepted -much to the chagrin of some TBums etc...It was about as flaming as I've seen here -(but I am post Jeremy...) -A bit of histerics over history perhaps...But I was very Pissed off... And Sean O. has been truly amazing running this board (Growing so huge it is!) always fair and wise and helping us be at our best - and ...About that link to IvyLeague coeds - I have some experience here -but from back "in the day"... When we were all having sex as much as possible (70's n 80's ) I had sex with girls who attended both Princeton and Harvard. They were each virgins when I met them... but they had little inhibitions to speak of... And YES girls who major in art, and drama and dance -are also usually open-minded about sex in general - and those dancers -my god the legs change the whole sexual dynamic sometimes, a force to reckon with don'tyaknow ... Madonna ( the once sexy singer/cabalist )...says to piss on yr feet in the shower to kill bacteria -and she probably has some other insights as well by now...No Martha Stewert but she's been around some...
