How do long, slow breaths affect your physical and mental makeup?
lifeforce replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion

The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. I know you like to quote Osho quite a lot, so you may have read 'The Mustard Seed', a brilliant book on The Gospel Of Thomas.

Different people have different goals or purposes, and the methods to reach those goals and purposes are also different. My personal meditation practice involves sitting in full lotus with lightly closed eyes, natural breathing. No counting of breaths, no control of breathing, no 'following' the breath. Just naturally breathing, in ... and out... Very calming and peaceful. I don't like to use the word 'goal' as this implies a final destination for my practice. Purpose is much better. My purpose is to tame the 'monkey mind' and to 'just be'. No dogma, no rituals. Naturalness.

Interesting. I find the concept of virtue to be easier, but to put it into actual practice in everyday life is much more difficult.

Great thread ! Some excellent posts so far. I'd also like to add, from personal experience, that there are different ways in which I feel Qi. For instance, when I do my Xing Yi Nei Gong set, it feels sort of stretchy and fluid like. However, when I do zhan zhuang, it feels heavy, thick and dense, like a dead weight. In meditation, it is light, expansive and seems to have no physical limitation. From my own observations, the quality and sensation of the awareness of qi is determined by whatever cultivation practice I am currently doing.

Thank you for the Taoist discussion forum!

A Buddhist free forum at last ! Yipee -
Just a quick question to the mods. Why has the main forum's name been changed from Taoist to General Discussion ? I realize that there is a broad range of topics discussed, but after all this is the Tao Bums and it is a unique place. Has the saturation of Buddhist posts forced the hand of the mods to change the name ?

Do not let them take your pineal power away

Oh dear. This is ignorance and bigotry of the highest order. Whatever happened to your 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' that you constantly parrot. Seems like double standards. You obviously don't practice what you preach. Just my two pence (I'm English !). No truth offered whatsoever.

Graham Hancock is one of the best researchers
lifeforce replied to Immortal4life's topic in General Discussion
I love Graham Hancock's work. I read 'Fingerprints of the Gods' a few years ago and it totally changed the way I viewed history, or what we've been told to believe is historical fact. Brilliant thread ! -
Once again, Buddhist superiority reigns supreme, while denouncing all other valid paths. Dependent origination this... emptiness that... no self.....no mind... blah blah blah. Your right 3bob, it's robotic, boring, repetitive and suffocating the forums.

My thoughts are with all the families affected by this horrible tragedy. Norway as a nation will pull through this eventually. Wonderful country, wonderful people.

Obviously, with all your interfaith knowledge, you would have come across the works of Thomas Merton. He, in no way whatsover tries to convert anyone to what he believes. He encourages us to look within, as do most open-minded spiritual seekers. It seems to me that it is YOU who has a hidden agenda. Very disturbing.

FD seems to be one really fucked up cult organization, masquerading as a qigong movement. No wonder the PRC are trying to put a stop to it.

Oh dear, this is an absurd theory, and belongs in the Falun Gong thread.

Another thread ruined by Buddhist propaganda.

Welcome star. This is a must read in Dao/Buddhist crossover literature. My link

Nice video. I intend to add some Shaolin style qigong to my practice. This looks like a good set to learn. Thanks

Well this thread has definitely proven that there are fanatical buddhists who frantically cling to their belief systems. Name calling, slanging and superiority claims are very evident. Seems like most of you should actually go back and check what the Buddha taught. Especially morality. It did go to 20+ pages, as predicted, and could well go on and on. These constant Buddhist propaganda threads are ridiculous and pointless. They are becoming very boring and predictable, with the same participants 'back-slapping' and 'high-fiving' each other when another 'non-believer' is put into his/her place. Find a Buddhist forum to do battle in, instead of ruining a Taoist discussion forum.

One of the by-products of spiritual cultivation, regardless of system, is compassion. From what I can gather, it's compassion for ALL beings. I've tried many, many times to feel compassion in this way, but I can't for the likes of paedophiles, rapists, murderers, torturers and all sorts of evil people. I've searched my heart to try and feel something, but all I feel is sadness and sympathy for the victims, and hatred for the guilty ones. Am I alone in this ?
