Stillness Movement Neigong and Michael Lomax's 'Light Warrior's Guide' Book
johndoe2012 replied to mjjbecker's topic in General Discussion
Ya Mu, A question for you: would it possible to create static stances (zhan zhuang) that incorporate s-m energetics? In Gift of the Tao I there is a stance where you are standing still for some time, I wonder if there are more "out there/in the future"? Though there is the question of efficiency if you don't have your hands on the dantien as in ordinary standing s-m. Chris -
Stillness Movement Neigong and Michael Lomax's 'Light Warrior's Guide' Book
johndoe2012 replied to mjjbecker's topic in General Discussion
I have experienced embryonic breathing a few times after starting s-m even in ordinary Zhan Zhuang. These days my breath is getting more subtle and I hardly feel any need to actually breathe when sitting. It seems the Qi is taking over. -
Joeblast has written a number of posts on improving your breathing. It might be helpful. From reading your energy you also have some emotional and psychological issues that could hinder your progress in breath work. My meditation does not rely on the breath for progress as anapana does but since I am still breathing it triggers what you would call "life issues" - so I am working on my breathing to iron out those issues using the Yuen Method. Scott Sonnon just released a breathing program, maybe you can use it http://resiliencebreathing.com/ EDIT: there's a app for iPhone / Android called breathe2relax which you can use to lengthen your breath.

combining qigong and tai chi? + a question about computer use
johndoe2012 replied to Wajak's topic in Daoist Discussion
You have some weaknesses around your job coming from your spirit and your ancestors on your mother's side. Corrected. Also some issues from past spiritual experiences. Corrected. Corrected you for sitting in front of a LCD screen all day long. -
What's the best & fastest method to all this Tao business?
johndoe2012 replied to snbeings's topic in General Discussion
Many people have success with Flying Phoenix for health. Myself I do Yuen Method and Stillness-Movement. It seems like a good combination. Health, intuition, compassion has increased including remembering past lives etc. -
I also get these numbers when I ask about the level of certain individuals. I would say 1000 is not the end of the scale though, there have been people with higher realizations than that. Another thing I seem to get from the numbers is there is a difference between energetic development (energy body, qi etc.) and level of consciousness. Maybe the key is understanding the Self whatever that is.

If you have William Bodri's ebook "How to measure and deepen your spiritual realization" is there any useful stuff found in Working Toward Enlightenment and To Realize Enlightenment by Nan Huai-Chin?

The thing is - what is the ego really? To me it seems like a sum of impurities - ill will, selfishness and so on. It's what brings you suffering which is why some people want to "kill" it. Whether it is possible or not, I don't know. I guess it is up to a test whether it can be done. Basically if you want to have a clear and stable mind, the ego needs to go IMHO.

At least to enlightened masters there is something to do and not just pretend we are already done. I would say it is more a recognition than a process of getting rid of.

This is a good book. Contemplation of the four thoughts is a powerful practise in itself.

White Eyebrows - Red Dragon Hei Gung Practice
johndoe2012 replied to Warrior Body Buddha Mind's topic in General Discussion
Not Garry here, but I guess Red Dragon fits in with Bak Mei http://internalkungfu.blogspot.com/2012/04/red-dragon-energy-cultivation-practice.html and the Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gung is the internal cultivation system for Bak Fu Pai? Garry, correct me if I am wrong. -

Some questions about Taoist yoga & Microcosmic Orbit
johndoe2012 replied to amoyaan's topic in Daoist Discussion
Creation of the field in the lower dantien can be done manually so technically one could end up doing internal alchemy over time if one is just doing lower dantien breathing I guess. Long Men Pai uses a lot of visualization I read - is it true? What is interesting is that Stillness-Movement does not, so I wonder how much the methods have in common. -

In search for true companions of the Way
johndoe2012 replied to fatguyslim's topic in General Discussion
Seems like Liu I-Ming's cultivation technique is more mind-focused which is the strength of the Buddhists IMHO. Buddha's 8-fold path could be used as an implementation guide, the Pali Canon for further study. All free on the net. This was posted in http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/23027-will-the-real-healing-tao-please-stand-up/page__view__findpost__p__329009 Of course any view will be biased. Breathing exercises from "Relaxing Into Your Being"
johndoe2012 replied to onebir's topic in Daoist Discussion
Cool joeblast, looking forward to it. EDIT: found one of your posts with good pointers in it. http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/15334-question-on-breath/page__view__findpost__p__206477 -
Flying Phoenix Qigong is also from that mountain :-) Anyway, I felt the qi start up and felt inspired by the text to do good deeds. Maybe I can go there one day.

cool, found something interesting here http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/23405-emei-qigong/page__view__findpost__p__335734

I wonder if the information in that book is mentioned in any sutra or other Buddhist teachings?
-
But... There is no soul according to Buddhism, right? So there seems to be a contradiction here. I have heard rebirth been explained as the birth of being moment to moment.

Any books on Ngondro anyone can recommend?

He has another website http://www.kujiin.com/index.php I remember reading one of his kuji-in books but didn't practise it so I can't say if the techniques are effective.

A lot of people doing Goenka and Mahasi vipassana also run into difficulties like extreme lack of grounding, constant ringing in ears and so on. And these techniques are not even secret. If one listens to one's own body and go slow when needed everything will work out fine.
