Maybe my main problem is trying to understand awareness. So instead of keep being aware there is a tendency to try to frame the experience in some sort of understanding. Also a tendency to let the process that says "no I can't do it!" take over. More work to do. Harmonious Emptiness, Useful link

ok, my question was not that clear, I can see in eg. noting while cooking I can note a couple of minutes, gross stuff, and then slip into "unawareness". Then start again, and it feels too hard on the mind, too much stuff comes up while being busy and aware at the same time. I take small breaks to do some walking meditation. My main practise is neigong so side practises for work is what I am looking for. Thanks, I totally agree. I will look into your suggestions.

When you repress your dark side it is very unhealthy to do metta. I have done metta in the past thinking I had a pure heart. Ha ha! I think it is much better to embrace your darkness and see the strengths therein than put a false self up that is purely good. CG Jung "I would rather be whole than good". Fritz Kunkel "The ego is the devil - not the shadow".

Daniel Ingram in "Mastering the core teachings of Buddha" says to first get wake up, then work on your stuff. He said the reason was to see what is your stuff and what is not. I guess one should ask oneself what the most appropriate path is, not listen so much to what others say.

How to heal negative memories- Extremely powerful
johndoe2012 replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
This technique sounds like Core Transformation coupled with EFT. Good with a explanation on the technique, so we don't have to buy the book. Found a link to another description of the technique http://www.eftcoursesuk.com/page/matrix_instructions -
Hi mods, Can you move this thread to General Discussion http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/20822-spiritual-bypassing/ The nature of it is more general than Taoist. Thanks.

Any ideas on tools to avoid doing a spiritual bypass? I would add * Subpersonality identification and integration * Shadow work / Hermetics soul mirror * 12 steps program maybe? * EFT Any psychospiritual work. Though I found subpersonality work to be non-fruitful; I never found out how to integrate all the various personalities. This is too easily ignored in the literature that I found (Rowan etc.). Found some interesting books http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Dance-Liberating-Power-Creativity/dp/1570624445/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1326286631&sr=8-14 http://www.amazon.com/Meeting-Shadow-New-Consciousness-Reader/dp/087477618X/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1326286770&sr=1-9

I would add a number 3 (3) If you in your current practise encounter obstacles that are not removable by spiritual means, maybe you need to look at psychological tools to heal your wounds before you push ahead.

Can you provide some links to this material? Thanks.

MCO - references in other modern systems?
johndoe2012 replied to Helder's topic in Daoist Discussion
I think I have seen the MCO referenced in some of the texts in Thomas Cleary: Vitality, energy, spirit. http://www.amazon.com/Vitality-Energy-Spirit-Sourcebook-Shambhala/dp/1590306880/ref=sr_1_20?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1326138395&sr=1-20 Though I seem to remember it was mentioned in a cryptic manner as in all alchemical texts. I think Chia's system derives from some of the ancient alchemical texts. -
hi, Do you think that if scientists discover no time and undivided light, it will have an impact on the world? Quantum physics has already been discovered and people are still not enlightened. So effort by individuals is still needed; though maybe people will progress quicker due to the increase in vibration.

Good question. Basically at this point, I think internal alchemy is too early for me. Maybe one day when the system has been purged of all the nonsense...and I can sit in full lotus

vortex, did I miss something or did you really go to one of Ya Mu's workshops? What you say about Ya Mu's approach, yeah it is mostly based on feeling the tree's energy body like what you would if the tree were a human being. My impression of the tree was that is was a very friendly being with a huge energy body I wonder how trees do qigong?

Lao Tzu: If you have nothing interesting to share than your silly remarks, please go away.

I know Master Lam writes about it in Way of Energy. I have direct experience with it from taking one of Ya Mu's workshops. I haven't tried it since though. The thing is I don't know if you can "just" do it, since at the workshop your energy level increases A LOT because of the master being there. It can be dangerous if you are stuck in the tree. I think Ya Mu has mentioned it somewhere here on TTB. EDIT: Link here http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/17819-do-trees-ground-energy/page__view__findpost__p__249922

I sometimes have unpleasant images come from nowhere, although it doesn't happen that frequently anymore. All I can say is that qigong and meditation helps. I think it especially helps if you can do sitting meditation until it gets very uncomfortable. That was about 1 hour for me in the beginning. I did a 10-day vipassana retreat (Goenka) that helped burn a lot of this stuff away.

I did a year of standing, really liked it, although my knees started to hurt in the end. I think it had to do with misalignments in the hips / pelvis / kwa and lower back issues. Did a pelvic clock feldenkrais lesson recently http://kinesophics.ca/diyatm/atmrecordings/pelvic_clock that improved the position of the pelvis and standing felt freaking great. Standing is probably the best free method out there.

Yeah, that book is more about the map. The technique is just one or two pages Regarding inner alchemy, I guess it could be dangerous for people playing around with techniques. What book are you using, by the way? If you can share that

Grand Master Wang Liping Ten day Private Intensive
johndoe2012 replied to DragonGateNYC's topic in General Discussion
I wonder why the Grandmaster would need the money, he has already attained the Tao. My hunch is that it goes to flight tickets, hotel and the government. No Taoist organization in China can run freely without someone from the Party overseeing it. Now, in terms of progression on one's path, one should evaluate how far one can go. If this course means about 10 years of cultivation, why not? The question is if one really goes that far with these courses. -
On dharmaoverground, it is mostly about noting (and Actual Freedom), so the techniques are already known. It is a very different approach than qi-based / no-mind practises meaning in noting one is non-embedding from experience at all times - whether this is the result of qi-based practises, I don't know. So the experience here at TTB is mostly non-verbalized, not broken down to elements. Maybe this is why not so much is shared here. -- I agree that reading about other people's experiences can color one's experiences and expectations. At the same time, without any sharing, would people have the motivation to be free of their stuff (karma etc.)?
-
If one never shares experiences, should one even write anything? What's interesting about this: day one 1 hour of sitting ½ hour of movement day two 1 hour of sitting ½ hour of movement and so on. Hey, maybe I shouldn't write anything in my personal forum

Doesn't the price cover mostly flight tickets and hotel? So the grandmaster doesn't actually receive that much money from it. That's what participants say... -

An issue that may threaten the existence of thetaobums and all forum sites based in the usa
johndoe2012 replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
I read the SOPA act as being a proposal being pushed by the Hollywood studios vs Google and other internet giants. Could be a issue of who's controlling media consumption in the future: start-ups like Google - who has Google TV now in many TV sets - or the old media cartel. Personally I don't care much for DVDs since various encryption schemes make it very hard to rip and thus require Israeli software studios like AnyDVD to make DVDs actually useful. Not just government, but also corporate interests are at stake here. Also I have a hunch many politicians secretly admire the Chinese communist party: over there they can just push something and it will be done. Not so in a democratic country. -
Can someone tell me the names of Qigong masters in America?
johndoe2012 replied to Lao Tzu's topic in General Discussion
How is it with Tibetan energy practises? Are the teachers also charging for classes? Personally I can understand why some teachers are criticised; though I also find that many students also project their own faults on to the teacher. In the West expenses are also much higher than in Asia. Just wait and see, in 30-50 years you will probably have the same situation as in the West, when you have "free" health care and pension benefits and so on.
