  1. Shamatha, Vipassana, Water Method

thanks for the link to the video. The way he spoke reminded me of Bruce Frantzis in his description of the water method, by the way. Maybe it is because they have let go of so much tension that they seem so relaxed
  2. Wikileaks - Thoughts

Metal dog, Personally I don't care much about Wikileaks. News has about zero value for me these days which I why I try to filter everything that do not lead me somehow to enlightenment. I like to be ignorant. TTC 48 "In pursuit of knowledge, every day something is added. In the practice of the Tao, every day something is dropped." TTC 71 "Not-knowing is true knowledge. Presuming to know is a disease." I don't presume to know the truth. I don't care about the "truth" as the truth is presented by one side or the other since this truth is colored by their own limited perception.
  3. Wikileaks - Thoughts

Read my post again. There is a question mark there. I do not judge the link I provided. But if you want to discuss copyright infringement, it should probably be taken up in another thread. Tor is open source, all the community hackers can look at it, so I would trust it more than I would trust surfing without it. That's IF you care about anonomity. What's your source on the Pentagon link and Tor? I highly doubt it. Even though Pentagon employees have hacked on it, does not mean it is unsafe. NSA has provided security modules for open source software, this does not mean that the said software is unsafe. The US government - as other governments - is involved in open source software. This is based on cost, it is simply a cheaper way of doing the work (it has other benefits also). https://www.torproject.org/about/overview.html.en
  4. Wikileaks - Thoughts

it is not a physical router, it's software based http://www.torproject.org/ anybody can use Tor to anonomize their internet browsing with a click of a button (Firefox). I was once very paranoid regarding these things, now I don't really care anymore since it puts me back to square one in terms of clarity in the mind. What S-Curve writes, I agree with. Take a back seat and enjoy the show
  5. Wikileaks - Thoughts

A win for Spanish citizens? http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2010/12/how-wikileaks-killed-spains-anti-p2p-law.ars
  6. Peaceful Disagreement

GIH, your posts in this thread are awesome, Regarding the quote I have snipped, would you consider the Buddha to have been total apathetic? I guess he couldn't be as he chose to spread his teachings which I interpret as not being apathetic. Viewing Buddha's enlightenment and thus end of suffering as an outsider, it seems that for an enlightened individual there is still a will to change things, and care about the world still exists.
  7. Monk Viewing the Moon!

You can find the answer for your question here http://www.youtube.com/user/TheWBBM. Looks like end of December we'll see what the WBBM team comes up with.
  8. Rickson Gracie Yoga and energy breathing practice

    Run, Forrest, run...
  9. How much pain can you endure?

    Kunlun / Yi Gong?
  10. My e-book/e-journal 'Who Am I?'

much appreciated xabir, is this was is meant by your method of contemplation " Is there anything other [than awareness/being the forms of awareness]?', 'What is this?', 'Where does Awareness end and manifestation begin?" I could not find any other description of contemplation in your e-book.
  11. Modern Life

My feeling is the same. Objects like money, food, knowledge feel increasingly empty for me. Mainstream people go for them like there is no tomorrow and I am just "huh" or "bah!". Also I feel that people value their own opinions a bit too much like they want to emphasize the self instead of being selfless. It just seems false and unfulfilling. This is complete contradiction to being with my almost 2 year old son who is delighted at simple things, simple pleasures. Being an Old Child (Lao Tsu) has real value.
  12. A WW2 1 hour Video on how China survived

Conspiracies only exist in the mind. They are a waste of time IMHO when you could do something more useful. All conspiracies share the same pattern: "official history is written like this, but did you know that this or that happened, and the government / etc. is denying it, and how do you explain the following: Apollo mission, 9/11, bla bla."
  13. Monk Viewing the Moon!

Ha ha, I like the way he explains the name especially since Sifu Terry Dunn has named it Monk Gazing at Moon in his Flying Phoenix series. But good explanation. It could be fun to view the moon while doing the meditation.
  14. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong - White Tiger Healing Energy

Sifu Garry, Will you make this system available for purchase? It sounds intriguing. Chris
  15. How is this style compared to Classical Tai Chi?
  16. zhang zhuang and the eyes

Yes, I think you are correct. Zhan Zhuang is with attention on internal phenomenon not only on the lower dantien (this is stated multiple places, Way Of Energy, Yi Quan manuals etc.) and of course attention on your posture.
  17. Basic Ba Gua book recommendation

You guys / gals studying from DVDs and books: do you spar with a real-life partner or how you make sure that you can use the techniques in real life?
  18. Bruce Frantzis Bagua Mastery Program

I agree that this program is too expensive. His 23-page introduction from the program is interesting but not so much that I would pay 1000 USD for a years worth. There are cheap Bagua dvds on plumpub but I don't know whether they are worth it. I did some circle walking before starting Tai Chi and I really liked it. Bagua definitely has aspects I like: more yang, more martially oriented than the current crop of Tai Chi. Maybe BKF will do a cheaper book after this mastery program has run for a while.
  19. What would YOU ask Bruce Frantzis?

IMHO you find the answer to your question on youtube. Just look at some bagua videos.
  20. Which practice to start?

You could try Flying Phoenix qigong, search for it on this forum. You feel the qi from day one, in my experience.
  21. The Virtual Reality theory

Very good articles, please read. Integration of quantum physics, Buddhist no-self, wu-wei (law of least action) and other Taoist concepts. The emergence of the physical world from information processing Simulating Space and Time The Light of Existence Brian Whitworth also has upcoming paper on details on no-self "The "I" illusion".
  22. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Sifu Garry, Very nice video, your moves look very powerful. Is there any internal movement done in this set as in fast Tai Chi? I can see you have mentioned "bridging and compressing" energy. I just wondered whether the mechanics were similar.
  23. Recommened Books On Tai Chi, Qi Gong

I know you said books, but maybe you should also take a look at Classical Tai Chi DVD I: Internal Discipline Stephen Hwa's explanation of Tai Chi is very good IMO. If you like his approach there is also more DVDs with complete forms. joeblast: I have Embryonic Breathing. Although I do not practise it I can see the link between that kind of breathing and tai chi - I only understood it when I saw the above DVD.
  24. Bruce Frantzis Bagua Mastery Program

For those who want to learn Bagua remote distance there is another option which is probably better IMHO Gaobagua.net and Emptyflower you videotape yourself and send it to the teacher. Also meetings with the teacher and other students are possible. Regarding learning Tai Chi from a DVD, Stephen Hwa of Classical Tai Chi thinks it is possible, so why not Bagua? I would say it is be better to learn from a DVD done by a good teacher than learning it live from a bad one.
