Indeed it looks like spam to me. No information about the practises whatsoever.

The Way of Energy: Mastering the Chinese Art of Internal Strength with Chi Kung Exercise

Maybe the "Internal Gongfu" blog is helpful. -
I was reading "How to Measure and Deepen Your Spiritual Realization" and it was mentioned that when the body gets relaxed through meditation all different sorts of issues can surface. Bodywork (chiropractor etc.) was suggested as a method for healing.

Thank you for posting this thread. I have started reading the book and it seems very interesting.

Flying Phoenix Chi Kung for Health volume 1 and 2. Volume 1 is standing exercises, volume 2 is seated. The seated exercises make you feel the FP energy quite fast whereas the standing not so much - in my experience. However both standing and seated are necessary I think Sifu Terry stated somewhere in this thread.

Taken Tai Chi classes with Taoist Tai Chi Society?
johndoe2012 replied to 000's topic in General Discussion
Nothing wrong with chi flow as a side effect, but I think it is better for all parties involved to have an interest in the martial side - otherwise tai chi is getting more diluted than it already is. Tai Chi deserves a comeback to its roots Chen Zhonghua and his Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method (Part 1) -
Taken Tai Chi classes with Taoist Tai Chi Society?
johndoe2012 replied to 000's topic in General Discussion
I would recommend to take Tai Chi classes for the martial aspect. Why not take qigong classes if you only are interested in increased chi flow? Of course this requires a good qigong form which is also hard to find, probably as hard as finding a good teacher of Tai Chi. -
Norwegian city offers qigong to all citizens for free

Metal dog: your comments about people needing psychiatric help because they are on antidepressants are way off base. In the Scandinavian countries there is simply much less light than in middle and southern europe which means less production of vitamin D in the body. This is what off the causes of so-called winter depression. The harsher conditions generally makes people more inward gazing and you won't find the craziness of Spain. From october to march I use a lamp with artificial sunlight about 30 minutes every morning and take 700% of recommended daily intake of vitamin D to combat the winter depression. Because of qigong and tai chi and the above I am not as effected as I once were. However I still look forward to the spring especially in december where there is only sunlight from 8 or 9 am to 3 pm! -
Methods for dealing with negative emotions/blockages
johndoe2012 replied to Biff's topic in General Discussion
Wuji is Zhan Zhuang in that Zhan Zhuang means post standing. If you mean wuji as arms straight beside the body, yes this is a good stance. I think holding the ball is more demanding physically but I am not an expert as to which stance is best. Wuji for 5 minutes before holding the ball and 5 minutes after is wonderful, I should say. Regarding vipassana: I don't know. I am going on a vipassana retreat myself in 3 months so I will get some experience in doing both qigong (Flying Phoenix) and vipassana. Regarding the retreat comment from dc: after Goenka courses they recommend two times 1 hour daily meditation so I think it should be compatible with daily life. Why shouldn't it be? -
Junbao raises some valid questions. Gauss: your words "create trouble" for FD is an indication of your attitude towards those that dare go against FD and criticize it for the shortcomings people perceive. I also was warned by a FD guy not to say anything negative about in that it would create lots of bad karma for me. This is the kind of attitude people perceive as cultish. And saying that people buy CCP propaganda because that they find FD cultish is ridiculous. As Junbao mentions there IS an organisation even though you deny it. This is not to say that because there is some organisation to FD that it is cultish. Denying the organisation behind Epoch Times just makes it seem more weird than simply acknowledging it. Also, as Junbao mentions it is quite interesting how Falun Gong has evolved: first there was the exercises and it was named Falun Gong. Two years later when Zhuan Falun came out suddenly there was a whole philosophy behind the exercises. Regarding Fa-rectification: I believe Li started mentioning this after the crackdown in China and when he moved to the States. I could be wrong though. Indeed, as Junbao mentions FD has become political and I think it is slowly destroying the movement.

Well, Denmark, Sweden and Norway are not Socialist per se, but socialdemocratic - ok, I mentioned the word myself LOL. Anyway, let me tell you that the total cost of starting a legal business in Denmark is 0 DKK = $0. Quite easy, no paper is involved, you do it online. -

I'm not sure where I stand on libertarianism / socialism. As the welfare state in Denmark and Sweden is collapsing we cannot ignore the level of economic competition in the world - however with a global economy companies are using slave labor in China and we cannot really compete against that. True libertarians are for freedom not only for capitalists but for everyone. There exist very few people in power who are for true freedom. The game is not played "fair": normal people who get a chance to get money from the state, capitalists who get a chance to profit from slave labor will do so. Nobody can really point the finger at the other party and blaming them for the current state of affairs. The rich blame the poor, the poor blame the rich. There isn't a single country in the world living the ideals of a perfect economy with no deficit because it is simply impossible to make such a calculation as how to fit together pieces of theory so the deficit/surplus becomes 0. And why are we still chasing this idea when it is clearly impossible? The economists will insist on changes, but as history shows very few changes really occur. I'm contemplating everyday more and more that to think even one thought about economy is a waste of time and there is not really a difference of this and that and good and bad. Only that there is. -
Have you done the Advanced and Master levels from the DVD's or just the beginner and intermediate levels from youtube? I am wondering if it is necessary to buy the complete program or just practise the basic stuff.

Isn't Qigong primarily for cultivation of energy? I would recommend ordinary meditation (just follow the breath) or vipassana for dealing with emotional issues.

Sorry to derail this thread: Save herbal medicine. The legislation in EU was probably lobbied by pharmaceutical companies. I am a chemical engineer myself and think this stinks. Even in so-called socialist Europe the money is calling the shots.

People are watching too many bad Kung Fu movies. Regarding internal vs. external and the use of "useless" in describing internal arts: I don't think anybody will kid themselves into believing something like Tai Chi Chuan will be effective after one year of training and just going to classes. Internal arts are useful for the rest of your life granted you practise every day and study hard. I guess something like MMA/wrestling etc is for people under 30/40 since after 30 the body begins to detoriate quite rapidly and the body simply can't handle being tossed around etc. Regarding Dr. Yang of YMAA: I wouldn't hold him as an authority on Chinese Martial Arts. Who has given him that position?

Not sure whether it helps you but there is another book with Bagua Qigong: Baguazhang: Theory and Applications.

Is the Association recognised by any serious Taoists? Aren't the main Buddhist and Taoist association controlled by the government and thus effectively not really serious?

Hsin-hsin-ming is a good text on this issue. I myself have tried dropping opinions and realizing how hard it is since my mind is constantly trying to label everything.

I can't be a hermit in this life, which is why I have started dream yoga. It means 7-8 hours of extra practise every night, granted that you are aware while dreaming.

According to this link, Zhan Zhuang will do it.

My Tai Chi teacher's teacher is Tung Kai Ying I haven't met Tung Kai Ying himself but I have heard many great things about him. Sifu Terry, what are your thoughts about healing others? Can it be done through FP or is FP mostly for healing yourself? Mostly I am talking about healing someone in my family, not doing 8 hours of healing per day.

Preferably one that is as fast-acting as Flying Phoenix
