I don't think this line of thought is leading anywhere. It focuses mainly on others and their morality while you should focus on what you have the power to change. Stop watching the news and you will feel a lot better, I am sure. Start asking yourself what you really want and focus on small changes everyday. You will feel more powerful and the surrounding society will not matter much.

Better than just standing? Zhan Zhuang is working great for me

It seems Dr Bingkun Hu has a video on Primordial Qigong: http://www.drhuqigong.com/videos.htm "12 Treasures for Beginners". I wonder how the chi feeling from Primordial Qigong is different from Zhan Zhuang (which I practise)?

Anyone with a scientific background and a honest and humble attitude towards life will acknowledge that what they are seeing or knowing is very small part of life. My background is chemical engineering. Everyday we try to model something that seemingly cannot be modeled correct - even then we try. I am honest and will testify that we are sometimes working with something that seems like magic. You believe science is the best way to judge life but what happens when scientists themselves cannot explain everything, like where how was the universe created, what happened before the big bang? Everyone is delusional because what they are seeing is an interpretation of the brain. Just think of 1000 years ago and you would laugh of what people believed in. Science moves on all the time, everyday. Maybe you should try to open your mind more, be scientific about it and experiment with your own body? Science cannot explain why light sometimes behaves as particles sometimes as waves - but you choose to judge science as superior to anything else.

People arent scientific enough to see spiritual proof

Proving The I Ching "proves" I Ching using mathematics. Regarding shuffling cards, professionels use machines to get a "random" sequence. I'm not sure it is totally random, depends on the implementation. -

This is a good topic. Funnily enough, I was thinking of posting a thread here regarding science vs spirituality. There is a real need for scientists to explore spirituality because that's what science is about: exploring nature and document it. I have just re-started my spiritual journey and I see a lot of crap, misinformation and also blatant lies regarding qigong and internal alchemy. This needs to go away so we arrive closer to the truth to enable more people to gain enlightenment or living closer to Tao. You know people will change their habits if they get scientific proof. Also if Kundalini experiences were better documented, maybe people wouldn't lose their mind but we would be able to help them. Many so-called spirtitual people or new agers think science is bad, while it is the morality and values, i.e. the people behind that are abusing it. The scientists in the West need to learn from the Chinese and pay attention to spirituality. Maybe with the opening of China, documentation of Qi-effects etc. we can get Western scientists aboard. -

Falun gong, anyone having any good exeperience with it?

Li TaoRen, I would like to know too. Seriously, there should be public information for ex-Falun Gong practioners to clean them self from this and guide them to real cultivation sources. For wanna-be practioners, the guide for real cultivation would be useful as well. Regarding Li Hongzhi, I saw a documentary on youtube where one of his partners from China said that he didn't write Zhuan Falun himself, which I think is reasonable based on his ramblings where he cannot explain high level content. Maybe he went to evil masters who created the Falun for him? -
hyok, I am a beginner in Tao "cultivation". Could you tell me how you use I Ching, practically?

According to this site: Link the Falun Gong exercises are based on Chan Mi Gong and Jiugong Bagua Gong. Note the above link is probably from a Chinese government controlled site but it is the only one with information on the background. Chan Mi Gong: Chan Mi Gong Whether those Qigong practises are any good, I cannot judge. -

From Scientology's Core beliefs From Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference So this is where Li Hongzhi got this alien story from. Falun Gong is a mix of pseudo-Taoism, pseudo-Buddhism, Qigong and Scientology-alien stuff. In a way it is sad because there are some good aspects in Falun Gong in the improvement of character - however this does not lead anywhere IMHO. -

Sure it is just a concept but I would prefer a theory where the founder does not put himself on a level that is supernormally high. Critical thinking can insulate you from non-scientific thoughts and realities but it also protects your mind from false prophets and "crazy thoughts". Of course the practioners don't deserve it. However, this is a general human rights issue for all persecuted not only Falun Gong. Did you know that Li says that the communist party will disintegrate because they are persecuting Falun Dafa practioners? The gods will punish the party. sure, but the salvation is up to Li, not yourself. I think also in contemporary religion this is bogus. -

I have had a bad experience in Falun Gong, it was as follows. I started reading the book Zhuan Falun and got interested in the Buddhist, Taoist and qigong side of it. It seemed a bit weird but the style got me hooked. However, I started doubting the story of Li Hongzhi. There is a lot of misinformation on him, like first it said he was trained by Buddhists, Taoist and Qigong masters but later he was made into a "divine" being, higher than Jesus or Buddha! This is of course absurd. Anyway, I did the exercises, however no meditation and read the book. The book says: "don't do other cultivation practices, it could be harmful" because the Falun wheel will be damaged. This is a trick in mind control and will force you to adobt his way and no other. I found this disturbing because I am interested in many things, not only one theory. Also, "the Falun Dafa requires a new way of thinking" is also a trick in getting you to give up critical thinking. Anyway, I searched for normal qigong books, ignoring the words from Li Hongzhi, found one on Amazon. On the wall beside the computer I noticed a spider crawling and I got scared! My thoughts were like "is the Master watching me?". I was scared that I started having these stupid thoughts; I think it was caused by the brainwashing by Li's words. Falun Gong is now not a qigong way, it is about salvation, harming the communist party and spreading the "Fa". If you want a unbiased report on Falun Gong / Dafa I suggest reading this: Two Tales of Falun Gong I would advice anyone to stay as far away from Falun Gong as possible, since it is a lot of bogus. It is not about truth since Li Hongzhi lies a lot and twists his own words. Not about compassion since he says Earth is the lowest level, a trashcan of the universe. Not about tolerance since he hates gay people and promotes non-mixing of races. It is true that there are no money involved from practioners, but there is an emotional attachment that is possibly dangerous. It is primarily a mind control cult where Li sits on the top and nobody can replace him.
